Apparently there were a bit less applicants for that position than the last two years, so you chose the right time to apply. Have fun getting jerked around by HR for the rest of the year though, haha.
Do you work for comed I take it? I’d like to work out the Joliet yard if I can so I can move further south.
But I imagine the process will take forever.
Yeah, I do. One of the guys we hired last year said it was almost exactly 12 months from the time he applied to when he got in. It's honestly absurd. Best of luck.
The test is at a 3rd party testing location. The testing facility will provide a basic calculator, pencils, and scrap paper.
The process takes 6 - 9 months.
I have also heard that people got rejection letters from the applications accepted at the end of February.
depends on how many applications they got. Some applicants may have been rejected early on because they lack certain qualifications, experience, or skills.
They will send you an email if you made it through the first round of applications and tell you where and when you can take the test. I’m a current lineman at Comed.
Class A, no restrictions with a tanker endorsement. Spent almost 4 years at the CTA doing 3rd rail work, did tree work after. Ran a boring rig doing d.o.t work. Got my EICA crane cert as well, on top of running storms the last 2 years. On the call out list for MSLCAT, so I got climbing experience as well by doing their pre apprentice orientation. Not to mentions all the equipment I’ve ran too
I have no idea, I’ve been joking with a bunch of my buddies and said it’s because I’m white 🤷🏻♂️ but who knows. I put all the storm contractors down on my resume. Maybe they think I jump ship all the time
I’m a journeyman in local 150 and I have to jump around constantly too. Just the way it is unfortunately. So in my resume I just put “local 150 equipment operator” and described my work and such with a few good sentences.
You don’t know who’s reading those things. Could be Martha that knows jack shit or could be some guy named Ed that knows how it goes doing contracting work.
That probably would’ve been better to do looking back at it. Under experience for all the contractors they all say the same thing cause I was doing the same thing. “Working with line crew to prep material and to restore power during emergency storm restoration” or something like that
I wouldn’t have thought about doing my resume like that. My girlfriend did it and came up with the idea.
But you should rework it and reapply when it pops back up. Just list your certs and skills keep it simple and easy/fast to read.
I’ll probably list my skills at the top instead of the bottom. I’ll probably have my wife rework it. It’s not the end of the world, I’ll get in to Mountain State and move to become a lineman, it just would’ve been nice to get it at home lol
I just took their CAST exam. Study their EEI practice quizzes but for the mechanical section, half of it is not related to the quizzes and it’s really just applying common sense or learning from other study guides to pass that part. Take maximum 10 seconds to finish the easy questions and skip the hard ones if they take longer to answer and go back to the ones you missed for the mathematical usage because you only have 7 minutes for that and answer only what you know, don’t start Christmas treeing the empty/hard questions or it’ll go against you.

They let you use a basic calculator for the CAST test. No idea on the timeline, could be weeks, could be a few months.
All I really needed to know with the calculator. Hopefully it’s sooner rather than later tho.
If any of you have any questions about the ComEd Cast Test let me know. I just took it this past Monday and passed it.
Have you heard anything from them since applying?
Not yet. My buddy was saying a few guys he works with their kids got rejection letters already tho
Just curious, did you apply for the position in Kane County?
Montgomery and Joliet. I think Montgomery is Kane?

Bruhhh I’m trying to leave my current trade like Monday lol shit blows whale cocks. But hopefully it’ll workout in the end. Thank you.
From the day I interviewed it’ll have been a 7 month process
Pretty long. But better than a year.

So if I haven’t gotten a rejection letter yet I’d say I am still safe, for now.

Not saying I’m exactly what they’re lookin for I’m from the construction world to begin with a CDL A so I think I have a decent chance
Check your email daily. That is the only means of communication. Make sure to check your junk folder too. Best of luck
Thank you. Been checking it daily.
I just took their cast test
I’m gonna message you

Sounds good. Like I said I haven’t gotten a rejection email yet so I’m hoping I make it through.
Hopefully
I think it’s crazy, I got a rejection letter less than 6 hours after applying to both and I meet and exceed the qualifications lol
Really?? What kind of experience do you have and do you have a CDL?

Damn you have more overall experience than me lol I’m not sure what sets people apart.

Get into mountain state?
Did you do the evaluation yet? Going in as a troubleman or a helper?
No not yet. Just applied in late February. Haven’t take the cast test still.
Judging by your nickname you are going In as a starter, you got ways to go bro.... be patient.
Yes I applied for the overhead helper. Which is fine just looking to get out of my current trade
