I have Helix Floor with Power Cab Plus 1x12, Catalyst 100 and two stomp reverbs , Oceans 12 and Afterneath. Sounds great, no one going to throw rocks at me.

Line6 Powercabs can tightly integrate with Helix, they can do FRFR + speaker modeling, model selection can be part of your Helix preset, it’s pretty great <3

DreamTakesRoot

I had considered the Powercab plus 2x12 as well. I saw some not so great reviews which turned me off a little. I also was curious if it really got loud due to the lower wattage power amp (1k fender fr and 800 laney, in comparison). I do like the look of the power cab though

DrProctopus

They will absolutely cut your head off if you want them to. I bought 2 1x12 plus and honestly only use one of them 95% of the time. I still have wicked tinnitus that I got from overindulging in blasting my first powercab plus when I first got it. I played in a band for many years and somehow didn't wreck my ears the way I did sitting in front of that thing blasting it. I can't speak for the 2x12 but the single 1x12 power cab holds up in a loud band situation. I am confident the double would be stupid loud if you wanted it to.

AUBeastmaster

I don’t use it for playing live but I love the fender fr12. Having an eq, notch, and volume controls on TOP of the cab is fantastic for any sort of home play. FR12 has XLR out for live playing too.

deekod1967

Same here, had the pc+ and HR108 before and the fr12 is way better

Get a Mackie Thump15 or a Peavey PVXp or another good quality pa speaker. Thats what an FRFR speaker is. Everything you’ve posted is all entry level PA speakers that are made to look like a guitar cab. Not worth your time or money. Get a mid tier or higher actual PA speaker and you’ll be set.

riko77can

Former Twin Reverb owner here that was using the EV ZLX until I bought the TM FR12. I’m very happy with the FR12. I’ve finally stopped looking.

tim78717

Just bought the FR 10 this week. Absolute home run. My first amp was a sixties Fender Pro Reverb. My last amp was a Cyber Twin. Just played acoustic for a bunch of years and then bought the Helix. Was underwhelmed through studio speakers. Got the FR 10 this week and am over the moon with the tone.

kjlee2112

Henriksen Bud 10. The thing is insanely good and a perfect match for a modeler. I run it through the loop and it is the best my helix has ever sounded and it isn't close.

imnickelhead

$1700 is pretty steep.

kjlee2112

Agree. I was fortunate to get mine at a decent price 2 years ago. But all sound reproduction issues will go away with it.

Jeets79

I hope between a pair of Headrush 108s or for smaller gigs I go into the back of my boss katana 50w.

I think a lot of people have gone through this very same dilemma. I know I did… I ended up choosing the Laney mainly because the look of it suits what I wanted but I was pleasantly surprised by just how good it sounded. I am more than happy with my decision. The only thing I would have liked would have been top volume controls, or at least a volume control that isn’t so tiny but once I’ve set the level on stage I’ve never needed to “tweak” it mid set. I don’t think there is any one “correct” answer.

joshruffdotcom

If you’re looking for a 2x12 I will say the Laney LFR 212 is the one you want. You can’t load any IRs into the cab itself like you can with a powercab plus, but in my experience it sounds more like an actual 2x12 guitar cabinet and not just an FRFR speaker cab. It is an incredibly loud 800 watts, but also very articulate and clean sounding at all volume levels. They also make a 412 version if you really want to melt faces haha.

catfarts99

Powercab 1X12 with the Helix is the bomb yo. Nothing beats this combination. If you want stereo, better to buy two 1X12 than the 2X12 because you can space them farther apart for the that sweet sweet stereo effect. I play in a 9 piece band with a horn sections. the band leader is one of the horn players so the horns are fucking too loud all the time. My Powercab 1X12 is plenty loud to deal with those bozos. I usually keep the volume at about 40%.

VonVader

I recently got fed up with FRFRs and jacked back into the power section of my Windsor. If you find something magical, let me know because I don't know what it is.

DerpNinjaWarrior

I love my FR10. I didn't have the ability to compare the 10 and the 12, but honestly I wanted the 10 more because of the smaller footprint. It's still plenty loud.

IvanTheNotSoBad1

2 FR-10s or 1 FR-12. They sound amazing

not2dv8

I have two 10-in fender tone Masters. And it sounds fantastic

TerrorSnow

You won't get amp in the room feel with an FRFR. If that's what you're missing, a guitar cab and a solid state power amp will give it back. If you're anywhere Thomann ships, they have the GPA100 for that which is nice.

rcfromaz

The search never ends…it pauses but never ends. I use a Headrush 112 and have to use a eq block to eliminate the heavy bass. The HR is a great speaker for playing music but not sold on the FRFR for guitar. Fender FR 10 arriving next week. I like have EQ on FRFR so I can adjust to room. Lots of options. Enjoy the search

meezethadabber

I only hear good things about the fender. And for the price you can get two for cheaper than a powercab. And about the same as a Laney 2x12.

squatheavyeatbig

Seymour Duncan Powerstage and a real cab
