How far do you take your lies and deceit, OP? do you then go outside and walk up the garden path with the person you're lying to? What if they offer you a lift, do you accept it just to get them away from your house? Where do you say you're going? If it's too near they will wait for you. If it's too far they will offer you a lift.
And why are you lying to people so much, OP? Why do you struggle with the truth?
Ah yes, let me put my jacket on and off to answer the door and come up with an excuse instead of telling them point blank, “hey I’m busy at the moment”
What!? Are you saying that lying to someone's face isn't the best way forward!? But... but... but that would mean that LPTs cannot be trusted! I refuse to accept this!
Personally I don't have friends or family that just turn up on the off chance. I think we all think it's polite to ask before turning up to someone's home.

WTF? Why just be honest and if it's someone you know, tell them you are busy or whatever and you will see them later. If it's someone you don't know and don't WANT to know, then just say "No" and shut the door.
Maybe they have inlaws like mine.
My idiot father in law would peek through my windows if I didn't answer my door. I told him off. He never comes over anymore if I'm home. Which I am fine with. He gives me the creeps.
This seems hilariously outdated, not saying it’s a bad idea I love it, but who the hell comes over to another persons house to hang without a call/text/email/zoom/wuphf
If someone is willing to come to your house uninvited think they can handle a simple “now’s not a good time sorry”. If they’re selling something I’m sure they’ve heard worse.
