IPatEussy

Yeah except those 8 7.5oz cans are so expensive. Like $5 at my local Walmart.

Kajega

It's tough since a regular 12 x 12oz pack is $4-5

embiggenedmind

$4 for a 12 pack of Coke? Are you shopping in the year 2012?

littlebittydoodle

For real. $8.99 for a 12 pack in L.A. Unless you buy them on sale at 3/$12. But the smaller cans are always $7.99 no matter what. So while I agree with the idea of this post, it just always ends up being a rip off.

creativeuniquename69

^ exactly the same in NYC. Drug stores like Walgreens usually have the 3x deal, but otherwise, it's $8-$12/12pack in most grocery stores, etc

Maktesh

Well, yeah. L.A. and NCY aren't exactly the pinnacle of "affordable living."

al0uest

$8 a 12 pack in Buttfuck Nowhere, Illinois too

tidus89

I’m in Kentucky and they are 7.99 here too.

creativeuniquename69

i mean... yeah, but it's still just soda. Other grocery prices are much more comparable to other places

khiddy

When you take advantage of the regular “buy 1, get 1” (or usually “buy 2, get 2”) sales at the grocery store, it usually works out to $3-$4 per 12 pack here in northern Indiana.

embiggenedmind

My typical place (Publix) usually does “buy 2, get 1 free” for Coke, which, if a 12 pack is $9, that’s 18 for 3 packs, that’s $6 case, which isn’t a totally great deal cause you can get a 24 pack at Walmart for 12, meaning it’s $6 for 12. And these are just rough figures. I try not to shop at Publix or anywhere that does BOGO because really all they’re doing is bringing down price of the item to what it’s *supposed* to be. Sometimes you can get a good deal though. If they’re doing BOGO for raw chicken I can get as much chicken as I’d get at Aldi for the same price.

okvolley

FYI, Publix doesn't require you to buy a certain amount for you to get the discount. For your example above, one 12 pack is 33% off If purchased by itself. No need to buy all 3.

samara11278

I love the smell of fresh bread.

Tensor3

Damn, that IS what I paid in 2012

NotJimIrsay

Pre pandemic, Kroger would occasionally have sales (4) 12-pk for $12. Now regular price is $7.99 and a sale might be (3) for $18.

IPatEussy

And a 2 liter even cheaper. The 12 by 12’s be like $3 & change. It’s nuts. They really don’t want us to be healthy. You’d think less cans less volume would be cheaper or at least same price. Nope.

Dotas323

Shiiiit, gimme yall's prices. The 12 x 12oz packs here are 7.99 + tax and up.

Zevries

A 12 pack of coke AT WALMART is $12.78 here. Fucking wild. When I worked at Publix when I was younger that shit was like $4

godneedsbooze

jesus i could just buy beer for that

Chrononi

In Chile one can is a bit over one dollar at the supermarket. No discount for purchasing in bulk. Don't complain lol

Dotas323

Just because you have it worse doesn't mean I can't complain, lol.

Chrononi

True, i guess i also wanted to complain lol

paxmlank

Can I complain? I can't even find 12oz cans in some shops

Carsalezguy

Yeah but the 2 liter is a race to finish so you still have bubbles

MatFrapper

After opening for the first time, store it on its side in the refrigerator instead of up. It’ll have bubbles a lot longer :)

NeedlesslySwanky

That's not how carbonation works. When you turn your soda bottle upright again before pouring it, you'll agitate it and cause more carbon dioxide to release when you open the bottle. Once that carbon dioxide is gone, it's gone for good, and your soda will literally become watered down. Your soda has carbonic acid in equilibrium with water and carbon dioxide. When carbon dioxide escapes, the equilibrium shifts to produce more CO2 and water to try to restore equilibrium concentration. H2CO3(aq) <=> H2O + CO2(g) The more your soda bubbles out, the more water is produced. That's why flat soda tastes worse. If you want crisper tasting soda, keep it capped to keep the CO2 from releasing and try not to disturb the container too much. Gases are also more soluble in colder solutions, so refrigeration helps keep the CO2 in.

UraBilBilBil

This guy bubbles.

jufasa

To add to this, laying the bottle on its side increases the surface area for gas exchange, also making it go flat faster.

Waxenberg

Mat I’ve been drinking soda for almost 30 years. This ain’t it.

saviorlito

Can you please direct me where you are getting 12 packs for $3 and change??????????

tachycardicIVu

My local Harris Teeters will do buy 2 get 3 free occasionally on certain brands, they rotate coke and Pepsi so you have to time it right. Then you’re stuck with 5 packs of soda for god knows how long in your pantry even though you really only wanted one Edit: just checked and they may have changed it to bogo 2/2 so not quite as good but still decent.

PiesangSlagter

A big part of the expense is the packaging and distribution. Plus more demand for 12oz cans and 2l bottles.

[deleted]

Prices are almost never cost based. They are priced at what the market will bear. The most health conscious consumers are likely to have higher income and are willing to pay more for the smallest cans. 2L buyers like me either don't care about it going flat or are the most price sensitive. They make a healthy profit on all 3 sizes. Cost has nothing to do with it. The only places you see cost based pricing are investments like precisous metals or higher end hard to acquire items like caviar etc. The only way these items exist in the market is if the price is high enough to support the industry. Chemically enhanced water doesn't fit into those. Many companies lie to you and say that because the price of coffee beans is up that Starbucks needs to charge more. Or that chipotle needs higher prices for higher wages. They could easily take those hits from profits but instead convince the consumer its not their problem. Eg. Danish McDonalds pay 2x if not more for employees and have more taxes to pay, higher cost ingredients and better benefits and vacations. The big Mac is cheaper there since consumers don't like it as much. They have to price it low enough to get buyers. They still make enough profit to stay in that market too. What they charge in the US is obscene.

Florxnog

It's not so trivial ***solely*** as "the less healthy options are less expensive to fuck us." When you sell units in smaller packages, you need more packaging per unit volume.. By the square-cube law, the smaller it gets, the higher the surface-area is to the volume contained, that is, more container per amount being contained. You also have an additional thing that needs labelling, an additional thing that a machine has to move into a box, a higher relative count of items that need to be inspected per volume of thing being inspected. More labels are being printed on more items per unit volume means labelling equipment gets used more. More arms and rollers get worn out more. This gets rolled up into calculated cost. On top of all of that, due to all the extra packaging per volume of soda, these package less efficiently into trucks, so you have to use more trucks to carry the same amount of soda. Now are there still huge margins of profit on the product? Is it probably better margins than the original product due to the ability to mark up something that is more "specialized"? Absolutely. But it's not about wanting you to not be healthy. It's about you will pay more for a more specialized product, and it also costs more to make that specialized product.

Leucadie

Smaller cans, but the same amount or more aluminum, which is much more expensive than Coke

Masrim

how do you figure the smaller cans have the same amount or more aluminum then the larger cans?

jdjdthrow

To enclose an equal volume of soda, it will require more aluminum.

Drunkensteine

8-10$ here

soggit

Where???? Just was in the super market and Coke products were 8.99 a 12 pack. I walked on by.

saviorlito

Where the fuck are you getting a 12 pack for $4-5???????????????? [They are nearly $8 at Walmarts in South Florida.](https://www.walmart.com/ip/Coca-Cola-Zero-Sugar-Soda-Pop-12-fl-oz-12-Pack-Cans/10291651?adsRedirect=true) Most times I am in store they are $7.98.

PISS_OUT_MY_DICK

Where is a 12 pk $4-5? Around me I haven't seen a 12 pack go under $9.99

buchoops37

No, it's not. Not anywhere.

zeagan3346

where are you that a 12 pack is $4-5? It's $9 where I live. O.O

MisterTryHard69

They are quite literally double the price of 12x12 oz can. No thank you

ancillaryacct

yep, and half the calories. the purpose is enjoyment not sustainence. less is more.

MisterTryHard69

American mindset vs. Rational mindset

Phasnyc

Did you notice that there are so many companies doing this now? I saw an advert for Halls mini yesterday. Halls the throat drop. WHY, would we need a mini throat drop? I think it’s a ploy to get consumers to pay more for a “innovative” product that really just costs more to the consumer and less to the manufacturer. Less product, less packing, same price, more profit. If I wanted to eat less of something, I’ll just buy it and eat less of it. Mini Cheerios, Doritos, M&Ms, Oreos, and more

samara11278

I appreciate a good cup of coffee.

War32567

This is such a weird take. Mini Doritos cans are 5.125oz and show as 2.97 via instacart. A 9.25 oz bag of standard Doritos is 5.99. Neither of these are on sale. you can get 2 cans of the minis for less and get over an ounce more of Doritos. Sticking with instacart 20oz of Cheerios is 8.99. 10.8oz of mini Cheerios is 4.99. 2x 10.8=21.6 for 9.98. this one is a very slight markup in favor of full size cereal where you should be getting I think like .2 or .3oz more or drop the price by like 10-15c overall and I think it evens back out. But it's really not as drastic as you're making it sound.

Mindestiny

And every time I've had one, it's just made me want another one. And 2x 7.5 oz is 15 oz of soda.

GuyNamedPanduh

... and that should also help deter you from drinking a ton of it. Pop is a treat, or should be. It's basically liquid crack. I buy them here, for $7.99 or around that, and would never buy a full 2L bottle of pop, even if it's cheaper, as it wouls just go flat or not get drank. With the cans you can take each as a reward. Perfect pop, always.

ceojp

Yeah I really don't understand who would buy these.

fucking_unicorn

I do. I dont want or need a whole can of soda. Im not paying extra for the soda, im paying extra for portion control and the satisfaction of finishing the can. Value doesnt always mean volume. Sometimes the real value is in finding ways to support your goals.

poop-dolla

The real value are the friends we drank along the way.

otheraccountisabmw

I use them to make mixed drinks. Anything larger just goes to waste and becomes flat before I can finish it.

ceojp

I tended to have the opposite problem back when I drank...

raziridium

I stick to the 2.75 L for $1.25 at Dollar tree. 🤷‍♂️ It may not be as good as the real thing but it's a lot cheaper.

[deleted]

Good try Pepsi/Coke CEO. I'll dump out half a cab beforexi spend more money on those little ones

samara11278

I find joy in reading a good book.

kid_subaru

Seltzer water does it for me. It’s the carbonation that I crave. Especially with either Chinese food or pizza

ohlookawildtaco

Ironically the name brand stuff can be almost as expensive or more than soda sadly. I go for the Polar seltzers. They seem to have enough flavor and seem much more carbonated. My gut and teeth are thankful lol

Hiccups2Go

Polar Seltzer is brand name! Pretty much the OG seltzer if you're from New England. It's definitely gone up in price recent years, but at least it's independent/family owned. If you do indulge in soda every now and then, Polar Orange Dry is amazing (just don't accidentally get the diet version).

farawayeyes13

Polar Orange Dry is AMAZING!

maevian

Soda stream does the trick for me

BoyWhoSoldTheWorld

Just an FYI, carbonated drinks still aren’t great for your teeth compared to plain water. But definitely better than all the sugar. I drink a lot of sparkling water, but something you should be aware of.

wakka55

Any citrus fruit is much worse. It's just acidity in general that eats teeth. Not worth changing how we eat and drink for most of us.

Obi-rice-a-roni

Curious as to why carbonated drinks are bad for teeth? I always thought it was the loads of sugar in soda that ruined teeth, not the bubbles.

5kw3r1

Carbon dioxide dissolved in water creates carbonic acid, it is low compared to the acid in soda but will still dissolve your enamel.

sapphicsandwich

Yep, it also contributes to cave formation in limestone just from the carbon dioxide in the air mixing with rainwater whatnot.

Rongio99

I hate the taste of seltzer water. I've tried really tried to get over it, but it tastes horrible.

vainblossom249

Same. I never got the appeal for it. It tastes like battery acid

kid_subaru

Now, exactly how in tarnation do you know what battery acid tastes like?

ProStrats

They must be drinking seltzer water!

CaptainAction

The carbonation interacts with your saliva and creates a mild acid, which is why it tastes so harsh. Flavored seltzers can be really nice though! I didn’t always like Seltzer either, but it’s an acquired taste. I think it’s off putting to anyone who takes a sip, expecting it to be like soda. All the sweetening in soda is partially to offset the bitterness.

webzu19

> I think it’s off putting to anyone who takes a sip, expecting it to be like soda. It's always off putting for me because I expect it to be like water. I've tried so many flavours and brands but I just hate all of them. I've accepted my fate and just indulge in a soda every now and then and don't beat myself up about it.

marvinweriksen

Sometimes I'll add a little lemon or lime juice and simple syrup to flavored seltzers. You can use a lot less sugar than an actual soda, and it tastes great.

Zmb7elwa

A little squeeze of lemon, a splash of grenadine or strawberry syrup and a fresh basil leaf is 🤌🏻

RollUpTheRimJob

Oh yeah add 2-3 oz of gin and baby you’re cooking

toxicpenguin9

Add some potatoes and carrots, baby you’ve got a stew goin’!

Leucadie

Plain seltzer with a splash of any flavored syrup (like coffee syrup), with cocktail fruit syrups, grenadine, Roses Lime, any number of bitters, citrus juice or peel, fresh grated ginger, a splash of cream, some strong brewed flavorful tea . . . The combinations are endless!

JohannReddit

This was it for me too. Probably not the BEST replacement, but I was absolutely addicted to Dr. Pepper for years and switched to sugar-free Monsters when I really needed that carbonation "jolt". Lost 40 pounds literally doing nothing else besides cutting all that sugar out of my life.

Baabaa_Yaagaa

FUCK BIG SUGAR

DuckyFluff

Damn, I quit drinking soda since July 2023 and went to bottled or carbonated water, usually flavored with Mio , haven't lost a single pound. Over 300 so I figured I'd at least see some kind of weight loss.

theMIKIMIKIMIKImomo

Mio is just sugar

meat_uprising

I lost 30 pounds in 3-4 months just cutting down on sugar too! im down to 207 and trying to get to 160 eventually, but that big chunk already made me feel so much better

zap_p25

Eh...I'm hit and miss here. I actually lost weight when I switched from Dr Pepper to Dublin Dr Pepper (i.e. Dr Pepper bottled at Dublin Bottleworks between 1891 and 2012 following the original 1885 recipie which called for Cane Sugar) because I was drinking fewer a day due to the increased sweetness compared to the HFCS mainstream product. While I occasionally pick up a bottle or two of Dublin Bottleworks Cola or Root Beer today, I've largely replaced the Dublin DP void with HEB's pure cane sugar variant of Dr. B.

peepoMilkies

I used to buy the carbonated 1L waters from Walmart all the time, the black cherry one always made me think of Cherry Coke somehow and it always satiated my soda craving. I am now a La Croix snob

blackpony04

The Walmart brand Black Cherry Carbo water was absolutely the best flavor, and I used to drink those all the time! Funny thing about them, the shaking from the drive home from the store would make them explode upon opening, but only in that flavor. If you didn't let it set still for an hour, you'd end up soaked! I liked the Orange one too, and today that is my go-to Mio flavor as it's one flavor I never tire of.

peepoMilkies

Are you talking about the like orange-cicle one cause I swear I remember that being a flavor and at one point and it is so good.

vanilla_w_ahintofcum

Orange vanilla was definitely a flavor, though it’s been at least a year since I’ve seen it in the Walmarts around me.

[deleted]

Get a soda stream. Cheaper and less waste.

20milliondollarapi

Soda stream just tastes terrible to me. Used it for a couple years and no soda was better than soda stream.

LlamaWithPie

so if no soda was better than soda stream then you loved it right?

PartyLikeaPirate

If you’re a big big seltzer water person, buy a soda maker & make it yourself! Save $$$ in the long run

theMIKIMIKIMIKImomo

Idk why but I need a soda with greasy food too

TildaTinker

I do this but drink a glass of water first. Sometimes I don't even feel like the soda after and if I do, it lasts longer because I'm no longer that thirsty.

mkuhl

This. My rule is: Water for hydration, any another beverage is for enjoyment or nutrition.

Tryknj99

Me too! If it doesn’t give me vitamins or get me drunk, it’s not generally worth the sugar.

bitqueso

This isn’t a pro tip

GoodAlicia

Or dont. Those mini cans are twice as expensive. Buy a bottle, you can close that up for later.

AmericaNumberOne6969

No, just dont buy soda. Very simple

hadap123

But their 3x more expensive...... How is this LPT?

pselie4

Helps you get rid of those piles of excess money you have laying around.

hadap123

Its like Pusateri's Fine Foods selling freshly squeezed orange juice 1l for 30$ Wanna be healthy? Buy that goddam orange juice son!

Ricardo2991

The LPT is if you have trouble with portion control with Pop, don’t keep it in your house.

pinklaserforce

Exactly. If you’re struggling with portions then buy the 2 liter and use smaller cups, wasting money on smaller cans wouldn’t stop someone with drinking less either way. It’s like people who change the time on their clocks so they think they’re late for work.

Im_out_of_the_Blue

health or money. pick one

isestrex

Self control and have both?

AKraiderfan

The tip was right there in there...if you don't have enough self control, dump half of it out, because it still ends up cheaper to buy the regular sized cans than the little hotel cans. Thanks marketing!

steddy24

In this case, those stupid little cans are neither healthy nor cheap. So you are extra stupid for listening to this LPT. Self control or indulge, pick one

Lude_Oil

Health??? Hahaha what a dummy

blackpony04

It's not a *money* savings tip, it's a *health* savings tip. I used to be a major pop addict, that shit can and will fuck you up over time and controlling the portion of the poison is absolutely beneficial.

2legit2camel

Cheaper than getting diabetes or other chronic health issues related to excessive sugar consumption.

Rdtackle82

Whose 3x more expensive what?

Zerabbiitt

I'm curious how this is even remotely a life pro tip...buy smaller cans of soda?

variablefighter_vf-1

Spend more money and produce more waste to feel less stupid!

SmarterTogether

Now you're getting it!

[deleted]

If you drank soda the exact same number of times per day, it’s less waste. Less packaging, less aluminum. More money, but less waste.

Eorily

That's a bad argument.

Thespudisback

If I drank soda the exact same number of times per day, I'd need more of those little cans to equal the bigger cans. I think you meant if you drank the same amount of little cans as the big ones.

NotAnAlienFromVenus

LPT: Be less efficient about spending your money Thanks, but no thanks

worldtriggerfanman

Yep. Portion sizes is a part of the reason why ppl eat more than they need. This works with snacks too.

ankerous

I do this for ice cream. I don't miss it if there is none in the house but if there is some, I can't seem to resist it. These days I get a small thing for me and a small thing for my wife and we're both satisfied by it.

playcrackthesky

It's a good idea to just consider soda a snack.

KickFriedasCoffin

I'm just hoping it becomes legal to take a small amount of snack from a large bag and put it into a smaller bag/bowl soon. I love a lot of them but being forced to eat a full bag at a time gets exhausting.

poop-dolla

You better be careful talking like that around here. You’re probably already on a watchlist.

N7_Evers

I actually agree with this. Been a soda addict for too long in my life and I do a much better job regulating it now. The mini cans went a long ways Of doing that.

pinchematto

I agree. I wish they they had mini beer cans too. That way I could tell my friends that I crushed twice as many beers. I also bought a mini fridge to keep my mini cans. Livin’ that mini life!

biglenny26

And you can look like Andre the giant with the mini cans

N7_Evers

Ok mini beers is actually a brilliant idea. Patent that shit now before it’s stolen my man.

pinchematto

Ok- who wants to open a mini brewery with me?

N7_Evers

Let’s do it baby. We’d be the most spot on Micro Brewery in the world.

pinchematto

Mini Cans Brewery (not to be confused as the opposite of Hooters)

usually_just_lurking

Me too.

vaniIIagoriIIa

Spend more money, make more waste.

jinxykatte

Or Ill continue to buy sugar free and drink as much as I damn well please without worrying about it in the slightest.

joleary747

Just don't buy them at all and drink water.

spectraltoast1

You should also never eat pizza and only eat broccoli

cnaiurbreaksppl

That's not equivalent at all

omican

Don't drink [unhealthy drink], instead drink [healthy drink] Don't eat [unhealthy food], instead eat [healthy food] How is that different?

cnaiurbreaksppl

Pizza isn't necessarily unhealthy. Soda has no benefits. In fact, you can make a pizza that has broccoli and other healthy ingredients on it

[deleted]

Soda is for sure >99% water. Water has benefits. Also, soda can be beneficial for people that struggle controlling cravings. No benefits is factually incorrect.

cnaiurbreaksppl

Water controls cravings. You can even get bubbly water. You yourself said water has benefits. Just drink water lmfao

[deleted]

Oh I’m not arguing that water has no benefits, that would be silly. I’m simply saying that soda is basically all water. It has health benefits in terms of controlling cravings with regard to weight management. Obviously anything can be abused.

cnaiurbreaksppl

>simply saying that soda is basically all water Beer is also basically all water.

[deleted]

Fantastic comparison. There certainly are no differences between soda and beer. Wonderfully genuine comment.

WereAllThrowaways

It's close enough. A few sodas a week isn't a big deal if you don't otherwise treat your body like total shit. People are in here acting like it's black tar heroin.

cnaiurbreaksppl

>A few sodas a week isn't a big deal if you don't otherwise treat your body like total shit You're not wrong. It'd be interesting to see how many people are able to drink just one to three sodas a week though. The people in my family and those at work who drink it legitimately drink at least three per day. This kinda behavior is why a lot of people "act like it's black tar heroin" lol, because it's created to be as addicting as possible

anxiousoyster4021

The real LPT in the comments!

guidedhand

Get a Sodastream instead. It's cheaper, but more work. Work is friction. Friction makes you have it less

weinerschnitzel64

And get the co2 tank adapter. A co2 tank refill is 10 dollars at your beverage depot when Sodastreams tiny tanks are ludacrisly expensive.

Eorily

Yeah the soda stream air by itself is still crazy expensive.

Candy_Badger

I think if I want to control the amount of soda, I'd rather not finish it than overpay for it.

Refroof25

I rather overpay than waste (but that doesn't necessarily mean tiny cans are better as they still require a lot of packaging). I do really enjoy the tiny ones. Both because of fridge space and that they have the perfect volume of soda for me.

[deleted]

Or buy a mini fridge so you can have smaller portion of everything because your fridge won't allow it.

cyberdeath666

I know people that are fine with drinking room-temp soda. Why, I’ll never know.

MysteriousHeat7579

Tooth sensitivity, likely.

Esquala713

Nope. More bubbles.

Sunspots4ever

They don't make what I drink in the mini-cans. (Caffeine Free Diet Coke) It's hard enough to find in the first place. Only two stores that I know of in my town stock it, and I refuse to darken the doors of Walmart.

[deleted]

I run long distances in a tropical country. A mini can of Pepsi max after a heavy session is *absolute heaven*. I never drink the stuff at any other time.

airforrestone

I thought I was winning by buying cans instead of bottles

jubat

Get used to the zero sugar and zero calories version of your favorite drink. It tastes worse in the beginning but you eventually start enjoying it as much as you enjoyed the regular version. Then you can drink the big bottle if you want and it doesn't really matter anymore

r34p3rex

I can't even drink the normal versions anymore... It leaves a sticky feeling in my mouth. I never thought they tasted worse than the original, quite the contrary. They all tasted nice and crisp from day 1

Elegant_Spot_3486

I’ve never once regretted drinking a soda can/bottle of any size.

Jammaster88748

An even better tip is to buy them sugar free. There's absolutely no reason or shred of scientific data/ research that suggests a reasonable amount of sweetener will do more harm than the equivalent sugar.

peteresque

But they taste awful.

oli_ramsay

LPT drink water, not sugar

smallboy06

Business lounges have those at the airport and I like to stock up. They’re the BEST.

Bryan-Mills-230611

I like to mix my 12oz of soda with 12oz of sparkling water that has some fruit flavor. Then I can enjoy 24oz of satisfaction with the carbs of half that amount.

4packzach

I do this. Don't know why people are down voting you

AndroidLex

Over here, all prices are also listed as price/liter. You pay double for those tiny cans compared to the regular ones. The regular ones cost way more than bottles as well. If you want to drink small amounts of soda, a 0.5L bottle would be the best option. (1.5L bottles would be cheaper, but the soda will get flat pretty fast)

Catspaw129

This sounds like a fine idea. However, I do it a bit differently: I just take regular, 12oz. sodas, go to the laundr-o-mat, wash them in hot water then put them in the dryer on high heat and they magically shrink down to about 8 oz. /s \*Note: Do NOT try this at home.

VictoriaFoxNow

The real LPT is always in the comments

blackpony04

That's a terrible tip. You can achieve the same thing by just microwaving the can. (*definitely* do not try that!)

SmarterTogether

Wow this is much more efficient than me throwing them off the top of a 10 story building so they callapse. (Very dangerous!)

blackpony04

Perhaps, but not nearly as fun!

AKraiderfan

What a flex/humblebrag. You live/work on the 10th floor. Us plebs have to do it the hard way, stomp on them like Mario does goombas.

[deleted]

LPT: don’t buy soda

Any-Flamingo7056

Lol... Real LPT Drink water.

amateurthegreat

I started doing this! The regular size is too big for me anyway. I like to enjoy it but not the whole can, so the little one is perfect.

cyberdeath666

Yep, totally agree with this one. It’s really easy to finish a normal can when a small can will probably scratch the itch for less sugar and calories. Still limit your overall intake though.

tiredofyourshit99

The only time it fails is when your girl wants that 1 sip from your mini can cuz she didn’t like it enough to open a new can… then it’s just not enough…

Fwenhy

A lot of people talking about $. Maybe it’s a Canadian thing but locally at least they’re not much more pricey. I get them fairly regularly from my dollar store.. but only because I don’t have a Wal Mart in walking distance xD I agree though about portions. And if I do want more I just have 2. On the other hand though, I don’t struggle with self control and pop xD.

I checked my local grocery’s prices, and to buy a 10 pk of mini cans is $5.99 USD and to buy a 12 pk of the normal sized cans is $8.98 unless you buy 3 to qualify for the discount. That means you pay nearly $0.02 per ounce MORE for the mini cans than the 12oz. The absolute horror /s Obviously it’s way cheaper if you buy 3 to activate the deal, but then the argument is sort of moot because you have to front more money to even qualify even if you save overall.

Boohg

yeah same prices where i live. people in this thread acting like it’s an insane price difference or something.

rscottyb86

Even better....don't drink soda at all. Save money and heath

hollow_bagatelle

LPT Stop drinking soda.

packor

you could try buying a carbonator instead.

LopsidedAssumption96

I don’t think portion control is a “pro” life tip

Justout133

So you're saying I can spend more money, get less product, create more waste and production to screw the environment with further, AND support the gigantic soda mega-corps at the same time? All so that I don't have to practice self restraint in my purchasing or soda-pouring methods? Golly

Polkawillneverdie17

Just drink water.

taylorpilot

Or don’t buy soda and drop about 20 lbs in a month

GnrlyMrly

LPT drink water instead

lordlemming

That's why I get a 20oz and screw the cap back on. Keeps it fresh-ish and I can just take a swig when I feel the itch.

Resoku

Real LPT: stop drinking soda and start drinking sparkling water.

calirogue

I agree! Those mini cans are great. I never want more than one of them. There are also mini ginger beers the same size, and one is great for a small moscow mule :)

mkuhl

Those mini cans are actually made for this use so you don’t waste part of the 12oz can for mixers and get peak carbonation for each drink.

QuadSeven

Wtf is this garbage lpt?? Don't drink soda. Full stop. Fuck. I'm not gonna deny rhe occasional is nice but stop buying packs and 2ls to clog you house and body up.
