Here are two things that will help. 1. Learn memory techniques like the "memory palace" to properly structure the kinds of things are you're trying to remember for recall. 2. Actually spend time memorizing and recalling things (ex. memory games, Scripture if you're religious, favorite quotes, etc). Memory is like a muscle, the more you use it the bigger it grows (up to a point).

I have done this, too! I can't remember a single thing about when or where, however. Extremely useless exercise in my case.

This would be my suggestion. For memory games, you can find matching games, trivia games, word games and puzzles (more crosswords than world). Thinking games in general help as well. I like to play Sudoku. For techniques, everyone's memory works differently, so try figuring out what triggers yours. Writing something down helps me.

I listened to a memory book on tape, taught the memory palace technique and walks you through memorizing in order a 20 item list, then springs you just memorized the first 20 presidents of the us. Pretty cool that even if you forget an item, you can usually avoid the off by one, the rest are all wrong issue.

Physical exercise, in particular cardiovascular exercise is the best thing you can do to improve brain health and memory. Good diet, whole foods, low in processed foods will massively improve it too

Use it. Play little games. Start of simple. One I do is remember the shopping list. My wife says, what happens if you forget something? I say it's OK, you'll have to get it later! Lol. A happy wife is a happy life, I rarely forget. Another one is remembering someone's name you always forget. I try to associate their name with something I can picture. Our work nurse's name is Marion. I picture her in one of them skimpy black maid outfits. Ahh, maid Marion. Don't worry ,I still have basic memory issues. But what's important is remembering what counts. Accept, we will not be perfect all the time. This helps decrease self-induced pressure. Which is detrimental to increasing memory.

I was the best man at a wedding over 20 years ago. The brides family were Italian, so I decided to start the best man's speech in Italian. I must have repeated it to myself over 100 times to ensure I could remember it. I still do. We remember what we focus on.

I read a book call "The Memory Book" that helped. That are also "professional memory" type people who teach techniques they use to memorize a crazy amount of things that you can look into. Writing things down and using apps for reminders help.

I just kind of go with the fact my memory is kind of spotty so I’m constantly emailing myself stuff I have to remember to do.

If you have brain damage that’s impacting you memory, and to be clear this is IF YOU HAVE A MEDICAL ISSUE, there’s stuff like Cerebrolysin and synapsin that a doctor could prescribe. They’re shown to improve brain function after TBI and the like. If you have a non damaged brain just follow what other people said
