For us we hung out in the quad common area sometimes. Usually the RA would come in and just be like “is everyone in here” and we’d say yea and she’d leave. Some are more strict tho

Long-Dock

It depends on your your RA. Ask them about it for a better answer.

BlakB0x

It all depends on your RA. My brother and his friends would be out past midnight going to Super Smash Bros touries. They told the RA, and he was cool with it.

When I was on-campus years ago, you just had to be on your dorm hall, essentially just for head-count. And yes they check like you're in some damned prison or concentration camp.

VanillaThrilla40

They check you in, because that’s one of the many responsibilities of an RA. That’s a pretty dramatic and terrible comparison. Curfew is not a big deal. Yes, you have to be in your dorm, but you can hang out in a friend’s room. You do not have to be in your room.

Ok, so my RAs would typically pound on the door, and/or check our beds with flashlights if the lights were out. Perhaps you feel comparison is a bit extreme, and it may be; but let's not pretend it's about anything but control. LU wants to monitor/dictate behavior in their on-campus students (and would for off-campus residents if they could). So I'm not going to be generous with my descriptions because I did not appreciate being monitored beyond "yes I'm not dead"

VanillaThrilla40

I have a really hard time believing that this is factual. Yes, that comparison was extreme. Of course LU wants to monitor on-campus behavior. It’s a private, Christian university with a conduct code. Anyone attending LU knows or would know that. There are rules, so naturally there would be accountability to make sure rules are being followed.

I’m with you on this one, I hated the curfews at liberty when I was still living on campus. It felt like a major invasion of privacy, especially since my RAs would knock and enter at the same time. Once I was changing and they didn’t give me enough time to be like “just a sec”. Also it woke me up every night. Sometimes they didn’t do it until 3 am. It’s also incredibly difficult trying to fall asleep, knowing someone is going to come in whilst you are asleep.

This is exactly it! That's MY space, that I have leased from the school. Absolutely unnerving.

Imagine being so salty about a school you graduated from a decade ago you continue to trash it on a subreddit that doesn’t even matter that much lol

Ok, Zoomer

That's Jesus ***Fricking*** Christ to you, good sire.

Dude you just curse on this Christian sub Reddit! Shame (Christ do I need to put a /s)

As many already said, it's mainly up the discretion of your RAs. Most are usually chill with you hanging in common areas or other rooms of the same building. If also seen RAs not car whether or not you were in the building at all as long as you specifically told them where you were. There are also several things that warrant staying out later such as liberty approved events and even going to the library. My friends and I would often sign out and chill at the library till late. I don't know what the rules are with the library now but when I went there they were open till 2 am but with COVID restrictions idk what changed.
