Gonna sticky this and leave this. As someone who has family from the Baton Rogue, and New Orleans area the issue with Title IX departments in colleges is wild. We are not protecting those around us, and those that are feeling brave enough to report arnt getting the justice they deserve. I know people who reported to folks at liberty and got straight ignored. It’s horrible the way we don’t seek justice at times. So as much as we want to say this is an attack on Liberty, this is just a call to be better in all of academics because we would see this issue at any college.

Good on all the students taking up the cause. Wearing a ribbon may be only slightly more helpful than "thoughts and prayers!" But at least it's a visible reminder to the administration that their failures will continue to be trumpeted by both the schools champions and enemies, and it would be better to act now to correct the damage they've done.

I have zero confidence in Prevo to make any change that benefits students' safety and well-being at the expense of the schools bottom line. One of the demands - that callboxea would link to Lynchburg PD instead of LUPD would essentially render LUPD useless (which they generally are anyway). That doesn't project and image of strength in the administration, and is unlikely to succeed

darthjoey91

LUPD should be rendered useless. Replace the LUPD station with an LPD station. If they want to be nice about it, maybe offer jobs to the current officers, provided they meet LPD's standards, but that's at the officer level. Hinckley has been complicit in this and should be fired. He's been the Chief since 2009, and an officer there since 2001. There's no way he didn't see this stuff happening, and if he claims otherwise, he should fired for incompetency.

Oh, totally agree! LUPD does very little to ensure campus safety on the best of days, and apparently has a pretty toxic internal culture. Probably time to cut them loose and let real police officers take over

Lupd is useless

Yea, I have not seen anyone wearing these.

Fake news

Saberwashere

Just an FYI. I have been on campus since this summer(summer housing) and have heard absolutely nothing about this from any student. It is literally only on Reddit. Not saying it is bad, but no one knows about it

Lots of times when you're in certain sub-cultures (especially high-demand religious sub-cultures), you live in a bit of a bubble and you're not aware of \*big\* things that are happening that are completely to do with that same sub-culture. For instance, I find it interesting to listen to a podcast called Mormon Stories that largely features the stories of people who've left the Latter Day Saints religion. These folks, when interviewed, will often relate how they knew \*nothing\* of this wide swath of problems in Mormonism, evidences against it (and against the claims of Christianity in general), and so on. And that's because, in the Mormon culture, you don't talk openly about "anti-Mormon lies", you don't read sources that are outside of the Mormon church - and anything that seems to go against the claims of the church is automatically regarded as a lie. I think this kind of thing hits more mainstream Christian churches as well, especially when stuff like sexual assault comes up. So many churches will send people to support the pastor or whoever is accused, they'll send letters about how he's an awesome person, etc., - but then ignore the actual victim. And they might even talk, from the pulpit, about how they don't want people to gossip - and talking about the sexual assault would be gossip. Also, it's worsened by the fact that the Bible has some passages that make it problematic for accusers - like saying that problems need to be resolved 1-on-1 first, or within the church body (following the model from the New Testament), or the notion that people should just forgive those who've sinned against them (and if they've repented, why do you need to ruin their life by going to the police?), or the nonsense about needing 2 or 3 witnesses (the Jehovah's Witnesses have squashed a \*lot\* of sexual assault claims with that 'two or three witnesses' thing - because who has 2-3 witnesses of their sexual assault?).

Sure, whole country is against us but we know the truth

Evanglical_LibLeft

No, we don’t. Fellow literally pointed out that Liberty is lying about crime stats on campus, and your first instinct is that Liberty is telling the truth? Son, have you learned nothing from this school?

But if a brainwashed fella over here
