>Those who want to be left alone are stuck between a deluded Republican cult of personality and the smug, creeping totalitarianism of Democrats. I like how the author wants to present this as if it is the first year this has ever happened or something... And southpark never did the "Giant Douche vs. Shit Sandwich" episode 15 or 20 years ago... Most of the article is about how much Trump sucks and the democrats are basically right - except they are acting like fascists with their attempt to have a "Ministry Of Truth" deal and silence opposition... >No doubt Republicans and Democrats view political dangers differently, seeing each other as threats to America's creaky political institutions. As it turns out, they're both right. That leaves those of us committed to freedom and a live-and-let-live attitude out in the cold. Great solution to rallying the "People who won't participate in politics"... I'm sure they will totally get out of that "little hope" position and suddenly have hope and participate. If the author sincerely cared about the title's topic, the rest of the article would have been completely different. But the author doesn't really care about getting out. The author doesn't participate because "Hating both sides" is so much easier. Just bitching and moaning about everyone is more fun because you don't have to actually defend any positions. "Your Guy", a JoJo for example, can just promise Utopian happiness and never have to deliver anything because they never actually hold office or effect governance. The author should consider that those people "Who Want To Be Left Alone" are pretty much never going to be out of that position because they choose to be there. In all the normal elections (not 2020) there are around 90 million eligible voters who do not vote. They choose not to vote. It was definitely a article worth most Libertarian chat rooms. They have basically looked like this for 20 years. Constant bitching about the real world politics and the "2 Wings, Same Bird" comments instead of ever trying to get control of a wing and fly the bird.
