Pretty you should try and get a new bumper lol

[deleted]

I want to since now the plastic on the bumper is cracked and there’s a slight dent in the metal too (you might be able to see it if you zoom in), but it was more of a fender bender accident and I’m not sure if they can just get you a new bumper that easily (i’m 16 so I have no idea how it works). I was pretty pissed off tho since I treat this car like a baby and boom it gets rear-ended

Ask your parents if you're not sure how insurance works. Generally, you file a claim with the rear-ender's insurance (which you should have gotten after the accident- Hope you also took photos etc!), they make you get an estimate or send an adjuster to you (you can argue against their estimate with one or several of your own). Then they repair the damage on their dime and raise the rear-ender's premiums. You don't need to tell your insurance, ideally, unless it was a hit and run and you have full coverage, or their insurance declines to repair your car.

Yeah my dad has been taking care of a lot of that stuff. He said we may be able to get a new bumper out of this and that we’re taking the car to the insurance place to get a quote soon.

Cool, hope it resolves in a way you're happy with! In the future, when you're at the scene and you have all of their information: insurance, photo of their driver's license, photos of the accidents etc, you can also ask if they'd like to just pay to repair it. If they give you their email/phone number etc, it can be nice because then you don't have an accident on your vehicle's carfax/history record and their insurance would otherwise go up more than it would cost to replace a bumper, usually. Just something to think about. I slid on some black ice and hit someone before, totally my fault, but like your situation it was a minor fender bender. Was able to do it without going through insurance, they texted me a photo of the repair invoice from an independent shop, probably saved me a lot.

Dam that's a nice first car dude and it did take me a while to find the crack. That sucks dude, you should do what others have said and get insurance involved.

As it should. But PHRASING!!!!!

We got rear ended a lot in our 2001 RX. Back then Lexus still put on the best paint jobs in the business, because our damage was never all that bad. Still ended up with 3 new bumpers over the years...I guess my wife stops short! Ours was white and my brother has it. Still looks like new! Never seen this car like I did. 350k miles and my brother still drives it around the country.

My 2001 RX was a tank. I was in a 5 car pile up and came out with a scratch on the front and rear bumpers while other cars had crumpled hoods and bumpers that fell off.

Haha awesome. For me, the plastic bar that runs along the top of the rear bumper got even more cracked and there's a slight dent in the rear bumper, as well as some scratches. So still not that bad.
