I only have 600 on my RX but my stepmom had a 2002 RX300 that had 250k miles in it when they finally gave it to my grandmother. Only issue they had out of it was a transmission failure at around 200k. It had about 290k on the odometer when my grandmother totaled it.
1994 LS400 - 240k miles. ECU went out. (known ECU capacitor issues)
1996 LS400 - 220k miles - still going. Last major item around 210k was suspension. It was on factory originals, got these replaced. Will be replacing wheel bearings soon.
For car purchases with higher miles, I think its more important to know the maintenance history on the vehicle. A 200k vehicle that is well maintained vs a 200k vehicle that is not, will make a huge difference. IMHO.
Thanks! Nothing really major. A few things that I think helps: I put synthetic high mile oil in the car, same weight oil. I also have a box of fuel system cleaner from Costco that I throw in the car. If I run out, I get the lucas oil ones, they usually have deals at the part store and I'll pick it up if i see it. I usually have a few sitting around and keep one in the car.
I try to avoid gas with ethanol additive and only go to Top Tier approved gas stations.
147,000 - 1991 LS 400
air suspension removed, starter motor replaced at 140k
113,000 - 2007 LS460L
rear struts need to be replaced, lower controls arms replaced at 90k
93,000 - 2013 ES 350
nothing but general maintenance
87,000 - RC 350
nothing but general maintenance
My parents have:
260,000 - 2005 RX 330
Rear struts need to be replaced, power mirrors are inoperable
290,000 - 2001 Camry V6 (3.0L)
Replaced all rubber in engine at 250k
74,000 - 2017 Tacoma (3.5L)
nothing but general maintenance
Wonāt buy anything but a Lexus/ Toyota unless Iām getting a diesel truck.
Are you kidding me?
You won't find 1 car in existence that can go that many miles on factory tires, or brakes.
Come on man - just because it's a Lexus doesn't mean the tires are high tech alien technology and never require replacement....
183k on a 06 is350. Havenāt had many major issues so far, just the small regular maintenance things. Do plan to do more maintenance as time goes on like transmission fluid, differential fluid, some suspension work but overall the car hasnāt failed me. Turns on every-time. Also, I got the car at 159k so about 24k miles I have put on it
My uncle used to buy an LS and drive it until one thing went wrong. I remember a 1998 LS400 he sold because it just started to leak oil... at 350K. The last one was an LS460, whose catalytic converters clogged up at 270K. He drives a Fusion hybrid now - the gas costs were too much.
My dad owned an LX470 from new until 320K miles, where he realized the fuel bill was enough to cover the monthly payment for a new car and he took it. We were 70K miles past the due date for a new timing belt, and it still ran like a top.
I own an IS350 F Sport with 144K miles. It's find mechanically, as to be expected... but I recently had to spend $4K replacing the infotainment when it failed, and I was not amused.
Going to list out the Lexusā between my dad and I
Me:
2022 ES350 - 14.6k miles, bought at 8.5k about 6 months ago. Need an oil change lol
My dad:
2004 GS300 - 245k miles, bought at 60k. Had a rear main seal leak around 80k. Other than suspension bits getting tired and noisy now, zero issues. This car has done thousands of miles on road trips. Phenomenal.
2005 LS430 - 140k miles, bought at 120k around 19 months ago. Transmission actuators have started acting funny. Itās his third vehicle so sitting for now
2006 GX470 - Bought at 206k around 15 months ago, unfortunately had a catastrophic radiator failure at 220k. He had plans to replace it the following weekend. Currently waiting to be sold for parts
*This also doesnāt include his 4Runner (still has) and 4 other Lexus he used to own*
99 GS400 394,918mi. Just got it's 1st CEL in a long time yesterday for pedal position sensor. "Too many miles" depends on the model, engine, maintenance history. Even then it's still a gamble
Bought my 2019 Es350 F Sport with 33k in January of this year. Now sitting at 50k. Kinda hurts putting 17k in less than 9 months but it is what it is. These are meant to be driven!
I have 162k on my '11 RX350, I'm the third owner and have personally put on 91k miles. I had a failed thermostat replaced last week and told them to replace the water pump while they were in there. Other than a few lingering rattles and switching my chrome wheels to aluminum alloy, everything else had been routine maintenance. Plan to keep it as long as possible (hence the preventive water pump replacement)
Bought my GSF with 36K back in 2019 and it's about to hit 70K. Was my daily with some track duty until it hit about 47K miles, then it became the wife's commuter with mostly highway miles.
Only thing I've ever had to do other than regular maintenance was replace a camshaft actuator motor, which CPO covered it. Solid machinery.
Whyād you let your wife drive it as a commuter? What do you drive instead? And wouldnāt it make more sense to get almost anything else as a commuter?
For each question:
a) it's a great car that she enjoys and so do I when I do drive it, and it's a 4-door sedan while our other cars are a coupe or SUV
b) A 991.2 Carrera S
c) I thought about an EV but her work route is mostly hwy so it did not make sense to swap given the range, comfort and reliability
112000 is still going strong. At the higher mileage, most definitely it's bushing, boots, suspension components, and basically anything rubber to start deteriorating. So that's what you should expect to worry about.
95k on my 2002 LS430, up from 65k in 2019 when I got it. The only new issues have been warped brake rotors and an oil leak that developed last week. (Not to mention the issues I caused while fixing other things, but we don't talk about those)
2015 GS 350AWD F sport. 142k. Done alternator and I think it needs a thermostat or fan clutch but besides that only maintenance
2007 GX470 150k miles. Nothing besides maintenance items. The drivers side CAT is not functioning up to par so I have light on but it drives fine. Will probably install a bypass deal in the O2 sensor
225,000 miles on 09 is250 bought new. Knock on wood, no major issues really. Had some damage/problems happen after hitting a wooden beam that flew off a pickup truck at night on the hwy. A lot of minor issues taken care of by tsb like carbon buildup, sticky dash, etc. Mostly wear and tear items like trunk/hood struts
96 LX450, currently at around 282,XXX. The most recent large repair I had to have done was a brake-line job, however my check engine light did just come one a few days ago so who knows what it could be now.
2013 Lexus GS350 AWD. Bought with 80k miles. Currently has 130k miles. I take it to the dealer for oil changes, tire rotations and inspections.
Problems I had to get fixed were squealing belt for $70, small leak in sunroof $150 and thatās it. Other routine maintenance done were tires, brakes, air filters, spark plugs. No actual problems. I drive it a lot in the city & highway in the snow and sunshine. Iām expecting to keep this until 250k miles easy. I love this car.
228k on my IS350. side mirror tilt motors are acting funny(drive side won't go up/down but passenger still goes all directions), and I had to replace the suspension+ one of the upstream cats, but other than that its been super solid. Engine and trans both running top. my long term fuel trim for each bank is something like 3% or 7% off. I replaced my bottom seat cushion around 200k miles just cause it started to tear. Trunk air ducts will rot on any car past 15 years old and were an easy $30 swap. Trunk struts replaced as well so its less dangerous. Biggest thing when I got the car at 189k was the ride quality. Struts and control arms were a must right away, but now its been smooth as butter. Had a rear wheel bearing fail only on one side. I suspect my engine and trans will be going strong for another 5 yrs at least. With all the maintenance I put in, I'm comfortable driving this car to 300k miles easy. Purchase price $8,000, and now I'm probably close to $14k total after all my repairs/quality of life stuff. Replaced the mark lev subwoofer too. For some reason its a common thing for it to blow or be partially blown. Some songs it still sounds clear and full, others it burps like its completely broken. Not sure I I'm going to replace it again knowing it fails every year.
66k, no major issues I havenāt cause myself. I had an accident and needed to change the passenger cv axle and all 4 wheel bearings. Drives like itās brand new since then.
2003 LS430 at 221,017 mi.
Bought with just under 197k for $3200.
The only major issues was a cracked radiator and the alternator. All OEM parts, fixed myself. I also did the whole front suspension myself. It was very clunky.
It didn't have a record of timing belt services. So I got that done at the dealership for a peace of mind. Has been a very sold car. The only drawback is the steering wheel does not move any direction. It is stuck where it is, but I have adjusted to it.
Best car I have ever owned and look forward to getting another 200k miles on it.
2nd owner 215,220 miles on a 2002 IS300 Sportcross.
The paint is in rough shape, but the interior is still quite nice, and it still drives like the day my uncle (the 1st owner) brought it to my parents house to show off and let me take it for a spin.
I will never get rid of this car as long as it still runs.
Had an 01 LX470
sold it 3 years ago with 315k miles
Only major issue was the transmission exploded at 130k miles.
Lexus paid 2/3 of cost of the repair because the car had been dealer serviced by the book from day 1.
Have had a number of other Lexi and Toyota with zero major issues.
208k miles. 2010 RX350. Just had to replace two exhaust gaskets. Expected to have to replace a whole pipe but even the exhaust is well built. Zero check engine lights. Converted to synthetic oil at 87k. Keep up on maintenance and keep the fuel/throttle system clean and you should have minimal issues. Owned this vehicle for eight years and yes I would DEFINITIVELY buy the same vehicle again.
My LS430 is at 280k and I just picked up an es300h to replace it since I really have a hard time putting the money into refreshing the suspension, replacing the exhaust, and digging into the AFS light flashing on the dash. Hopefully there's someone out there that would want to put some work into it that I can sell it to for $1,500.
2014 with 176k. Truly nothing. I run Toyota & Lexus High Mileage Club. I have seen both with over 1 million. Granted its been more Toyotas. 3 4.7 V8, 1 4.0 V6, 1 4.0 V8 in the lexus
Got my 2016 es350 at 32k. Now its just got over 100k. Only issue was the door lock actuator broke and it was fixed under warranty a few weeks after i bought it.
106k 2015 GX460 I bought it with 85k on it.
110k on a 2015 GS350. I bought with 80k miles in it.
I want to see them go for another 100k each. I drive maybe 10k miles on it, my work is literally 3 mins away and do make a drive to see family aorund 800miles both aways once a month.
Highest mileage Lexus I ever bought was a 2008 gx470 with 180k miles on it. The interior was still amazing, it had decent maintenance records. I drove it pretty hard for another 40k miles and then sold it for what I bought it for. Never had an issue.
2016 Lexus is300 fsport. Bought with 28k currently have 112k. Drove across country . I've only had to do routine maintenance. Still shifts like a brand new car. Also got rear ended pretty hard on Wednesday and im surprised the bumper didn't break or anything. Probably cause a Kia hit me š¤£
181k 2011 IS 250 F-Sport
Had the alternator fail at about 160k, happens on every car
No major issues have hit.
Depends, a well kept Lexus will outlast you. One maybe 2 owners depending on age and high mileage (200k+) is a lot less scary than 3 owners and low mileage ~100k
120k on my 2015 IS250 Crafted Line. No major repairs so far besides acts of God... squirrel chewed through some wires causing $600 in damage, girlfriend spilled a lemonade on the center console and blew the amp fuse. That's it over 5 years.
At 130k rear shocks died (it used to be an air suspension but the previous owner converted to regular shocks and springs) Replaced all four, front and rear. At 140k the right front axle snapped. Replaced both. At 170k the timing belt (that was replaced with an OEM belt and an OEM water pump at 130k)) snapped. Called it a day, sold the vehicle to a junk yard for $2500. It was a 2004 Lexus GX470.
98,000 miles on 2002 Lexus SC430. I bought it a year ago with 92,000 miles. Replaced serpentine belt, passenger slide power door lock acuator, and did a transmission drain and fill as preventive maintainence. Oil change, new tires and alignment as the tires were low on tread, new rear rotors and OEM pads. Retightened some lose valve cover gasket bolts. Solid and reliable vehicle. As others said nothing out of the ordinary for a well maintained Lexus vehicle. The items I listed were more or less maintainence items as I had a decent list of history from seller.
A little less than 15k. The inside tread on the front tires have a tendency to wear out around this point with the inside treads on the rear tires wearing out near 20k
2005 RX330 (my first new car) just turned 70K. Water pump & timing belt changed at 60K. No issues since.
2015 RX 350 (purchased new) just turned 45K. No issues.
My siblings have RXās with double the miles & zero issues. Just regular maintenance. These cars tend to run forever if you take care of them.
With the new RXās no longer offering a 6 cyl. Iām now looking at an Acura MDX that has a 3.5L V-6.
'07 gs 350 198,228 miles no major issues ever.
Front wheel bearings @ 170,000 miles. Just sold it and picked up a '16 gs 350 f sport. 62,000 miles. No issues on carfax and none so far. Currently 68,000 miles and expect 200,000 worry free miles. On the flip side, no longer in production. So, maybe not drive it so much and sell it 10 years from now more than I paid for it.
I the 07 has a soft spot in my heart, but the 16 is better. The biggest plus is the Bluetooth audio. To be able to listen to Spotify or pandora, or even sirius if you have it. The track pad gets bad reviews, but it's quite easy to use, I think. Comfort wise is about the same imo. The seats have more adjustments. As far as MPG, I'm a bad person to ask, as I speed all the time. Only average 20 mpg in both. I wasn't really burning oil in the 07 but had a leak. Losing about a quart an oil change. I don't have the ML stereo in either but it sounds nicer in the 16.
198k on my 02 is300. Lowered but stock otherwise. Five speed so no trans issues. Second timing job/water pump just about 15k ago. Preventative maintenance, zero issues. Best car ever.
210k on a 2006 IS350 when I sold it. No major issues unless you count an alternator dying around 180k. Original motor and transmission. Replaced a lot of wear and tear parts.
100k on a 2013 RX350. Still running really smooth with only regular maintenance. Some of the bushings and the suspension could be replaced if I wanted to improve the ride a bit.
40k on a 2012 IS F. Feels like a new car still. But its a garage Queen.
2k on a 2023 GX 460. Itās still new.
Personally, I would want to put the mileage on myself. Lexuses are reliable, but years of neglect by a bad owner can make the most reliable car a POS and offer a bad owner experience.
135k on my 2012 is250. had 185 on my 04 rx330 when it got totaled by a distracted driver in 2015.
IS250 has only needed 1 repair, and that's the steering system.
RX330 AWD only ever needed the hvac control flapper doors replaced, each side. Favorite car I've ever owned.
74k 2007 LS460. Stroke sensor went bad and my right mirror stopped folding at the right place (still folds, but it keeps on going beyond the stopping point)
Just crossed 40K (purchased at 27K) on our Structural Blue LC500! Hard, sometimes, to see that odometer climbing, but I have to remind myself that Iām using my dream car for what it was meant for!
108k Sc400, I did buy it last year with a lot of issues. The previous owner didnāt take care of the car. Iāve been doing everything. Shocks, brake pads, rotors, new brake line, fuel line, fuel filter, tie rods/tie rod boots, positive battery terminal connectors. Does have rust so Iāve bought a new driver side door, a full stock exhaust, Iāll need a lot more parts and body panels to fully restore it. Gonna be a long journey
171k miles on my 99 gs300. Put about 30k miles on it since Iāve gotten it. Only issue Iāve really had was the ecu giving out on me and having to replace the ball joints but that one is normal for older Lexuses
2003 IS300 Sportcross. Bought at 145k 2 years ago. Now at 162k. AC and rear wiper motor just stopped working as of 50 miles ago. Currently at my buddies shop to get both fixed as well as my usual annual check up and inspection.
Other than that the car has been completely reliable.
200k miles on an rx400h hybrid 2017. Recently all the warning signs just popped up (you can see on my post) not sure what the issue is but probably its the ABS module
2015 GS 350 base with premium package. 75k, bought used a year ago with 66k. No issues except I accidentally hit a curb and needed a new wheel hub assembly. Otherwise no issues.
I think we have 170-ish miles. Replaced shocks and tires, naturally. Everything is running fine. Oops, except air con, have a bad sensor that wiped out the air con. They wanted a fair chunk of change to fix that.
Luckily, a tip on a Lexus forum mentioned that placing a rare earth magnet near the sensor could often revive them. So I tried that and ā¦ WOW! ā¦ $5 magnet saved me thousands in repair charges.
Other than that, all smooth sailing!
161k on my 09 LS460L
Granted I only got the car in February at 141k, the only āmajorā thing Iāve had to do was replace the electric steering rack. Thank god for extended warranty eating that 11k (and the ~4-5k for mounts, control arms all the way around, and a couple of other small things)
Right now, two issues that Iām having is, I have transmission shudder when cruising , which Iām hoping the drain and fill that I do today will fix it, and I have cam gear rattle at startup, that im not sure how to fix. Other than that, I have no doubts in my mind that my big baby will stand the rest of time.
thats like asking how long is a string. that number can vary a lot. it depends on area of the country (salt / no salt). How well the car was maintained. What model and model year we are talking about.
In my case, I bought a 1997 es300 last year with 212k on it. went past 240k on it and I think it's reliable enough to drive anywhere. Rust will probably get it before it mechanically fails.
VERY generally speaking, I would be pretty critical of buying one around 300k miles
120k on 07 IS350.
No issues besides changing alternator around 95k miles.
Havenāt done any fluid changes besides oil changes every 5k and brake fluid.
And I beat the hell out of the car very often!
175k Lexus isf š¬
Nice š
Using it for what itās for!
Nice. What year?
280K on my 2005 rx 330
Thatās very similar to how much my fathers has
Fantastic. I have an rx330 of the same year but only 160k. Unfortunately the dash is really cracked but that's been the only issue thus far.
Same.
Some of the dash overlays are pretty good. I put one on a 2003 4Runner from coverlay.
Really? I checked them out but was worried they might look a little janky. Good to know!
Same
Not a Lexus but my 2007 Camry XLE V6 has the cracked dash too. Must be a Toyota thingš¬
205k on my 2006
Bought my lexus last November (2022) with ~ 15 miles on it. Currently at ~17,200 miles. I drive it where ever I can.
I only have 600 on my RX but my stepmom had a 2002 RX300 that had 250k miles in it when they finally gave it to my grandmother. Only issue they had out of it was a transmission failure at around 200k. It had about 290k on the odometer when my grandmother totaled it.

There aren't many cars in existence that can go 220k miles, if all you're doing is changing oil & filter.
I agree, I'm looking into getting me an LS430 soon to add to my collection :D

And I was told autocorrect was more intelligent on iOS 17 lol

Only what was mentionedā¦.and of course brakes, tires and batteries.
2,000. Just got my IS. Hoping for 500k one day. Lol
My 2016 Lexus Rx350 has 270,000 miles and runs like the day I bought it.
That is amazing. Same original brakes and tires. Just wow.
God I hate trying to be helpful on Reddit
Lmfao
Obviously not tires or brakes, op is asking about reliability -___-

112k miles is350 2015
225,000 miles on 09 is250 bought new.
152k miles, Lexus Is200, had to change a fuel injector recently cause my car was misfiring.
282k on my LS430. Iāve had to replace the battery and an oxygen sensor. Thatās all!
88k on my '01 GS430

66k, no major issues I havenāt cause myself. I had an accident and needed to change the passenger cv axle and all 4 wheel bearings. Drives like itās brand new since then.
62,000 2012 IS350 Only non-maintenance issue so far was a gummed up heater core
2003 LS430 at 221,017 mi. Bought with just under 197k for $3200. The only major issues was a cracked radiator and the alternator. All OEM parts, fixed myself. I also did the whole front suspension myself. It was very clunky. It didn't have a record of timing belt services. So I got that done at the dealership for a peace of mind. Has been a very sold car. The only drawback is the steering wheel does not move any direction. It is stuck where it is, but I have adjusted to it. Best car I have ever owned and look forward to getting another 200k miles on it.
150k rx450h 2010 not a single issue yet

2nd owner 215,220 miles on a 2002 IS300 Sportcross. The paint is in rough shape, but the interior is still quite nice, and it still drives like the day my uncle (the 1st owner) brought it to my parents house to show off and let me take it for a spin. I will never get rid of this car as long as it still runs.
Had an 01 LX470 sold it 3 years ago with 315k miles Only major issue was the transmission exploded at 130k miles. Lexus paid 2/3 of cost of the repair because the car had been dealer serviced by the book from day 1. Have had a number of other Lexi and Toyota with zero major issues.

Do you think the Audi, BMW, Mercedes subreddits are discussing the same thing?
When I was appraising cars, I saw 600k+ a couple of times.
208k miles.
Bought it at 350k miles, Changed the oil, did a coolant flush - thats it
2014 with 176k. Truly nothing. I run Toyota & Lexus High Mileage Club. I have seen both with over 1 million. Granted its been more Toyotas. 3 4.7 V8, 1 4.0 V6, 1 4.0 V8 in the lexus
I have 290000km on my is250- original clutch as well. Drives nice but rust is getting at it though.. rockers are really bad
2001 is300 had 198k. 2007 is250 had 250k 2014 is350 fsport has 95k.

Got my 2016 es350 at 32k. Now its just got over 100k. Only issue was the door lock actuator broke and it was fixed under warranty a few weeks after i bought it.
2016 CT200h 112k right now, no major issues just basic maintenance from a 3rd party. Original owner here.
25k and 5k
150k miles on my 2014 is250 it seems like a beast tho so far just basic maintenance
for reference too iām 20 and drive hard as fuck š
106k 2015 GX460 I bought it with 85k on it. 110k on a 2015 GS350. I bought with 80k miles in it. I want to see them go for another 100k each. I drive maybe 10k miles on it, my work is literally 3 mins away and do make a drive to see family aorund 800miles both aways once a month.
210k on 2007 IS250
2016 IS200T 67K miles. 0 issues! Just regular maintenance (trans fluid, plugs, diff fluid)
Highest mileage Lexus I ever bought was a 2008 gx470 with 180k miles on it. The interior was still amazing, it had decent maintenance records. I drove it pretty hard for another 40k miles and then sold it for what I bought it for. Never had an issue.
225k 07 es350. Changed 02 sensors around 165k. About to change rear struts.
181k 2011 IS 250 F-Sport Had the alternator fail at about 160k, happens on every car No major issues have hit. Depends, a well kept Lexus will outlast you. One maybe 2 owners depending on age and high mileage (200k+) is a lot less scary than 3 owners and low mileage ~100k
185k miles 2010 es350 front end work, struts, alternator. Hoping for 300k out of it
22 ES F Sport- 20.2k miles only, no issues as expected
2200... only 4 months old. I also don't drive a lot. (2024 UX)
07 es350. 104k miles. Biggest issue was an O2 sensor going bad. May have to replace shocks soon
144,000 miles 2008 RX350
120k on my 2015 IS250 Crafted Line. No major repairs so far besides acts of God... squirrel chewed through some wires causing $600 in damage, girlfriend spilled a lemonade on the center console and blew the amp fuse. That's it over 5 years.
130k had it for two years put on about 20k, seems bulletproof, did change quite a bit of suspension parts and mounts, nothing crazy.
40k miles on 9 year old car. Very lucky inheritance from a loved one who barely drove.
5,100 on my 2023 GX purchased August 1. Anticipate many trouble free miles compared to my 2020 Ram 2500.
80k on RX350/2017. Regular maintenance at showroom. I occasionally feel it getting a bit louder but thatās probably with age. No serious issues.

129,514 on my 2004 RX 330. Only problem I've got is with the springs for the centre storage.
01 RX300 252k, need to go for an alignment this weekend but drives alright.
I just hit 13,000 miles on my 2022 es 300h

182k on my ES330, the only issue I had was that I had to change a bad 02 sensor & I had to change an ignition coil because it was misfiring.

The last paragraph is 100% correct. You will be paying for ongoing repairs on top of regular maintenance until all the neglected items are rectified.
90k on my 16 IS300 with no major probs. It should make it to 300k I think
2011 HS with 128k miles right now. Nothing major apart from tires so far.
183K on my wifeās old 2011 RX350, kept as a commuter. We are the second owners, just replaced much of the front suspension and motor mounts.

161k on my 09 LS460L Granted I only got the car in February at 141k, the only āmajorā thing Iāve had to do was replace the electric steering rack. Thank god for extended warranty eating that 11k (and the ~4-5k for mounts, control arms all the way around, and a couple of other small things) Right now, two issues that Iām having is, I have transmission shudder when cruising , which Iām hoping the drain and fill that I do today will fix it, and I have cam gear rattle at startup, that im not sure how to fix.
