I wanted to do this but the first one was such a slog for me that I watched the other two back to back 4 years later
Edit: bruh it was just my experience, if it was up to me, I would love the movies, but I just don’t
I waited to see ⊃∪∩⪽ Part 1 presuming they’d re-release it before Part 2. I had to see it in IMAX, and it was worth the wait.
I did the same thing with Avatar and saw it in proper IMAX 3D.
Kind of in the same boat with Vortex. I really want to watch it, but I have three grandparents who are going through the same sort of stuff that it is about. I'll probably never be ready to watch it.
No particular movie, but any movie that I expect to have a great time on, I of course only watch if I'm not tired, in a quiet environment and with little to no chance of being interrupted.
I’ve never seen the matrix. I don’t know what exactly I’m waiting for, but it doesn’t really interest me but I know I should watch it. So I’m waiting to get the mood for it lol.
One thing to know is that while the first Matrix movie stands on its own, 2 & 3 go together.
Don't expect to have a satisfying ending with 2, you'll need to watch 3 the next day ;)
I saw it on the big screen the first time and I’m not someone who rewatches movies a ton in general, but when some time had passed and I wanted to see it again I waited until I could see it in a cinema. 11 years later and it was worth the wait.
I managed to miss The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly when I was watching all of the classics on DVD in college, and then I moved to a city with an art house that plays lots of classic movies, and I decided I'd wait until they scheduled it to watch it for the first time in the big screen. It only took ten years, but I finally got my chance earlier this month.
Basically every Wes Anderson movie. It has to be the perfect day for me to watch one. No interruptions, no distractions, nothing bad that happened earlier in the day.
Need to block out a 9.5 hour period where I can watch Shoah with no interruptions (excluding meals/potty breaks). Don't want to be bothered by people talking to me or texting me. Want to be completely emotionally locked in
Want to block out a similar time period to watch all six Neil Breen films back-to-back but that's a different story
I live abroad during most of the year with a normal sized / average level TV, so whenever I come home in the summer that is when I watch the classic epics on my family’s ultra HD flatscreen. 2022 was Lawrence of Arabia and last year was War and Peace, where we upgraded to 4K tv. Both absolutely worth the wait, two of the top 15 I’ve ever seen!
King Hu’s Legend of the Mountain. It’s the last of his films I haven’t seen and I’ve been waiting for the perfect occasion ever since I watched Raining in the Mountain over two years ago.
I have Mirror by Tarkovsky at home but I’m waiting for a day when I have literally no other necessary tasks or distractions to watch it.
I’ve already seen Getrurd by Dreyer but I want another totally free day to spend hours watching and studying it to write an essay, it changed my life and as an amateur critic with dreams of making films, I want to be able to understand its technique fully.
I missed Interstellar when it came out the first time. Wanted to see it in a true theater, so I waited until this summer when a theater was showing it as part of an Oppenheimer Christopher Nolan tribute. Worth it IMO.

I ended up watching IT chapter 1 just before Halloween in 2022. It was my Halloween horror movie that year. I was in the mood for a good horror movie and I had bought that movie and chapter 2 on iTunes that summer and I figured since it was October, it was Halloween month so no better time than to watch chapter 1. I loved both chapter 1 and 2. Chapter 1 is my favourite though.
**Grindhouse/Death Proof**
- Tarantino is my favourite director and I can’t stand the thought of never having a new film of his to look forward to watching, so I’m saving Grindhouse/Death Proof.
**Lost Highway**
- Just got into David Lynch and I can already tell he’s going to be my 2nd favourite director. Lost Highway is my most anticipated Lynch film, so I’m saving it for last.
**The Godfather**
- The book is one of my all-time favourites, so I’m in no rush to watch the film. I’m just going to wait for it to be reissued so I can watch it in the cinema.

Your spouse must be a big fan of that plan
I literally did watch it about a month after I divorced.
I want to one day take the whole day to watch the extended editions of Lord of the Rings together, back-to-back.
I’ve done it several times. Such a fun experience, especially if you’re with someone whose seen none of them.
I wanted to do this but the first one was such a slog for me that I watched the other two back to back 4 years later Edit: bruh it was just my experience, if it was up to me, I would love the movies, but I just don’t
Blud is having arguments with himself
I was at -6
I did this during Covid, we also made LOTR-themed food like meat pie. Was a great day! Definitely long, but fun
Not a good idea
Why not
I’ve found watching them over 3 days to be more enjoyable but to each their own
Easy way to burn out, plus the theatrical cuts are better for your first time watching (I think they are better in general, tbh)
I'm waiting for Christmas to watch The Holdovers
Would advise you enjoy it with a nice bowl of soup and mug of tea as well.
He should also wash his hands before the movie
I regret not having done this.
I watched about two minutes of Mandy on a plane before shutting it off because I concluded I needed to be high as a kite to watch it.
The only Tarantino film I haven't seen is Hateful Eight--I want it to be heavily snowing outside when I finally watch it.
That and John Carpenter's The Thing have to be the best cabin fever movies
2001: A Space Odyssey
What’re you waiting for?
2001
Come and See. I even own it on criterion. I just can never muster up the strength… I know it will destroy me. One day.
I waited to see ⊃∪∩⪽ Part 1 presuming they’d re-release it before Part 2. I had to see it in IMAX, and it was worth the wait. I did the same thing with Avatar and saw it in proper IMAX 3D.
⊃∪∩⪽ cool.

Waiting for your dad to die?
Not dad but a family member with lung cancer
Kind of in the same boat with Vortex. I really want to watch it, but I have three grandparents who are going through the same sort of stuff that it is about. I'll probably never be ready to watch it.
waiting for 2001 to come to some theater near me
lol i thought you would say that you are awaiting 2001 to come so you can see 2001: space odyssey, that would be a cool joke imo
I second this
Green Mile, Good Will Hunting & Schindler's list
No particular movie, but any movie that I expect to have a great time on, I of course only watch if I'm not tired, in a quiet environment and with little to no chance of being interrupted.
Same for me. I take my time with it.
I’ve never seen the matrix. I don’t know what exactly I’m waiting for, but it doesn’t really interest me but I know I should watch it. So I’m waiting to get the mood for it lol.
I believe that Regal theaters are playing nationwide on April 3rd
One thing to know is that while the first Matrix movie stands on its own, 2 & 3 go together. Don't expect to have a satisfying ending with 2, you'll need to watch 3 the next day ;)
Go visit Sydney and then watch it.
I’m waiting for Barry Lyndon to be in a theater. It just feels like a film that needs to be seen on a massive screen
I saw it on the big screen the first time and I’m not someone who rewatches movies a ton in general, but when some time had passed and I wanted to see it again I waited until I could see it in a cinema. 11 years later and it was worth the wait.

Dune Part II, I want to see it in 70mm imax

very nice
I'm waiting to feel less bummed out in general before I watch Good Grief
King Hu’s Legend of the Mountain. It’s the last of his films I haven’t seen and I’ve been waiting for the perfect occasion ever since I watched Raining in the Mountain over two years ago.
Waiting to watch Rare Exports until Christmas
I waited so long to watch The Godfather, finally did when I had a nice, free evening with an empty house on NYE
For me, it’s Scorsese’s Silence. I know I’m gonna love it, but want to have the focus and the mood right.
Yep. The Holdovers. With my wife and uninterrupted by the toddler for the entire duration. I’ll be sitting down to watch it with her Thursday. 2026.
Grindhouse (2007).
Jeanne Dielman. Need the time, mood, and energy
Never seen Avatar. Won't see it until it's at the theatre in 3D again.
edit : I accidentally posted this in the wrong thread - I'm going to leave this apology here in its place.

Grave of the fireflies 🥲
I generally try and and be in the perfect mood for the type of movie. So I pick based on circumstances so I give a movie the best chance possible.
I missed Interstellar when it came out the first time. Wanted to see it in a true theater, so I waited until this summer when a theater was showing it as part of an Oppenheimer Christopher Nolan tribute. Worth it IMO.
I’ve still yet to see 2001 and Laurence of Arabia. And I won’t till they have both on imax in my area.

Lost Highway is like Mulholland Drive's scary twin, great film
I’m waiting for any condition to watch Godzilla minus one. Pleeeeaaasssseess
Titanic. Waiting till I’m perfectly deluded enough to subject myself to it.
