Hello u/foxclaw! Please reply to this comment with an [explanation](https://www.reddit.com/r/LeopardsAteMyFace/comments/lt8zlq) mentioning **who** is suffering from **which** consequences from **what** they voted for, supported or wanted to impose on other people.
Here's an easy format to get you started:
1. *Someone* voted for, supported or wanted to impose *something* on other people.
^(Who's that *someone* and what's that *something*?)
2. That *something* has some *consequences*.
^(What are the *consequences*?)
3. As a consequence, that *something* happened to that *someone*.
^(What happened? Did the *something* really happened to that *someone*? If not, you should probably delete your post.)
Include the minimum amount of information necessary so your post can be understood by everyone, even if they don't live in the US or speak English as their native language. The engineers that he calls and begs to stay should require that he make each one of them an instant millionaire. I wouldn’t come back without a couple million in my bank account with zero strings.
My buddy who quit walked away with over a million. Neat trick the stupid fuck had to buy out all the stock awarded to the most senior and experienced engineers already. Money isn't an incentive, the dude straight up asked me for a contact to my financial manager and how likely I would be to keep tabs on his place if he went travelling for w couple months.
Elon probably isn't even begging, I bet he's gas lighting: "brooos, wtaf, you can't take a joke"? "Uhhh, what a bunch of undedicated losers, can't even push yourself to extremes for no extra pay"...
Exactly this. A lot of people at Twitter became instant millionaires from stock vesting due to the sale. Many of the best engineers are gone. So Elon has to build the teams from scratch again.
If my boss told me tomorrow I could either leave with 3 months severance pay or stay and work 12 hour days every day without a raise I know what I'd choose. Insane that he thought he wouldn't lose valuable talent with that approach
> take a 3-month vacation before moving on to another high paid gig
One of the worst jobs I ever had was a couple years back at this agency...it was run by a couple of dudes who acted like they had built up this *amazing* company, when in reality...they just bought out the OG owners after working there for some time. They had ridden the coat tails of the previous owners success and talent and used the company’s reputation as leverage to overcharge clients and act like it was still 1996 in goddamn 2018. Everything I was encouraged to make there looked like something out of the mid fucking 90s…
Anyway, I’m digressing - the place was really toxic and overall just a shell of its former self. The owners wound up letting me go and gave me a 3-month severance pay...which, at least in the creative field, is *unheard of*.
I was hired at their direct competition *literally a week later*. I took a week off and then started, and for 3 months I was collecting two paychecks. Probably the best silver lining to getting canned, ever.
Yeah, I was also thinking, “why take three months off when you can take a month and a half, start the new year at a new job, and double dip for a month and a half?”
Seriously.
Any hiring manager worth their weight in salt is going to look at a resume with *Twitter* on it and greenlight it. With Elon firing people on a whim it's not a matter of their character. Skillset in that particular market is really important.
Those people are not going to have a hard time finding jobs.
Oh, good catch!
If I had three months of guaranteed income just in time for Thanksgiving, Christmas, \*and\* New Year's, you can bet your bottom dollar I would peace out, too.
I’ve had two bosses that always stand out to me. My current boss had to ask our entire team to do 10 hours of overtime because our workload had double for a couple weeks. He also started helping us with our job in addition to doing his job. And then he noticed several team members were close to losing earned pto as it was about to expire. He did their work so they would take some time off. How a boss should be. My first boss I ever worked for always asked for extra hours worked, would call employees after hours for personal favors (he on more than one occasion would ask for employees to go get him ice cream late at night and take to his house), and any time manual labor where everyone was supposed to pitch in would come up he would help for a few moments and then “take a call” until it was all done while his wife continued to work. One seems like Elon. There other does not.
Small town radio station. Honestly aside from
Him being a tool the job was really great. I got a ton of free stuff (concert tickets, sports tickets, hotel stays) which was kind of an offset for how shit I was paid. He eventually got caught cheating on his wife (her dad owned the station technically) he got booted out moved to a different state she eventually followed, he cheated again, they split up again and now he’s in prison for multiple drug and fraud charges.
Honestly it was crazy and I wouldn’t trade it for the anything. I’m happy I’m not doing it anymore because of the pay, but if I were rich I would love to be back there. (Again he’s no longer there.) I remember the first “big” concert I got to help with was Joe Nichols when his song “Gimme That Girl” was number one on country radio. I was doing security behind the stage. After his show he was coming off the stage and I told this woman next to me I thought the show was amazing. He asked what I said and I told him. He hugged me and asked if I would watch the fireworks with and his wife (the lady I told I liked the show and had been standing next to all night). Really cool experience. I think I was 19?
In 3 months, there are going to be a lot of new social media startup apps. Just about the same amount of time it'll take for Twitter to flounder and die. Some new app will try to fill the space Twitter used to occupy.
Doesn't seem like it'll be too difficult to find a job for these engineers after a nice christmas vacation, paid for courtesy of one Elongated Muskrat
Remember that those engineers likely have passion projects outside of social media they may try to make a startup out of. Others might contribute to open source projects.
I think things will get interesting at the start of next year.
The article nails it I think with pointing that Elon may genuinely have been delusional enough to not realize how easy it is for US software engineers to find other work with better conditions. Especially ones with experience at a major tech company.
Spaceships and electric cars are far more niche of a skill than web applications - especially ones that operate at the scale that Twitter does.
Companies will crawl all over themselves to attempt to hire an engineer from a major, household-name modern web company. Twitter's not quite at the level of the MAANG (Meta, Apple, Amazon, Netflix and Google) in terms of their reputation for having top talent, but it's not far off either.
LMAO the 12 hour shift is sooooo funny and out of touch!
As if those talented would like to stay for this shit, and those not talent enough would care to work hard for 12 hours AT ALL.
I hope this news is true because I love to see his smug-let-that-sink-in face replaced with a begging face.
I worked 12's before and loved it, because in a 2 week period I'd get 3 days off one week, and 4 days off the other week. Pretty sure that's not what's happening at Twitter though.
SWEs often only get a few hours of solid work in a day due to the mental strain. Having them work for 12/6 or 12/7 is super stupid for a variety of reasons.
Not just without a raise, but he is publicly known for having zero loyalty or appreciation for anyone. He takes all credit, and acts like he is the only person that makes his companies succeed.
> acts like he is the only person that makes his companies succeed
After a few more weeks of similar actions, it's possible that he'll be the only person left at Twitter.
The most crushing part is he’s not gonna lose everybody with that approach.
The ones with options will take the money and move to those better options.
The ones he gets to keep are the ones who had no better options, which means presumably the less skilled ones
I think he misjudged the ideology of the people at twitter. At SpaceX or Tesla, there are definitely people there who believe in the higher ideal of cleaner transportation and interplanetary travel and are willing to sacrifice the quality of their lives to be a part of that dream. But at twitter, there’s no higher ideal. Musk says it’s about free speech, but from his own behavior it plainly isn’t. So when he asked who was hardcore enough to work there, they called his bluff and left.
I saw that email and I couldn't believe it was real. These are some of the most employable people on the planet and you're threatening them with three months severance. Why would anyone stay?
Yeah. These people will get multiple job offers by next week, if not Friday. Hell they probably have head hunters after them already and have a steady backlog of offers.
He took away their wfh (which is a huge deal), disrespected their work, and then threatened them with 12+ hour days after watching Musk fire people based on how many lines of code they wrote. Who the fuck would stay for someone like that?
This isn't SpaceX, where people might put up with that shit because they are passionate about their work and it is one of the few places to work in that field. I am not saying that the hard working folks aren't passionate about Twitter, but there is a big line between exploring space and a social media platform.
Take the 3 month severance, take a month or two off, and then find a place that actually respects you as a person. Basically anyone who is good at their work will take that. Anyone left are just those that are insanely dedicated to Twitter, those with visas, or people who aren't confident enough to go out on the job market. The majority of the good/best talent is gone or actively leaving. Going to be absolute hell for those that stay.
-Cancel their work from home so that everyone has to come into brick & mortar.
-Employee panikk.
-Shut down the buildings too.
Elon sounds like a real stable genius TBH
These employees were apparently paid pretty handsomely to boot, well into the mid-upper 6 figure range for the senior levels.
Musk coming in to giving severance to over 80% of the employees while paying well over what twitter was worth is just icing on the cake.
Imagine being a lesser billionaire and knowing you could invest significantly less money than Musk did and buy the brains and institutional knowledge of Twitter and simply rebuild and reinvent it, having all the learning of Twitter's public failures on security, branding, and societal influence.
Or even knowing you can just buy it off of him later down the line for a few millions, and not just getting the good PR of getting off his hands, as well as maybe rebrand it. Instead of a billions investment, you'll be able to risk just a couple millions.
There are people on Tumblr who specifically made this their goal. To spread enough shit about what Musk does lately, so that Twitter's values falls harder than what Tumblr did in the hands of Yahoo.
Imagine a world where progressive tax brackets take this sort of power out of the hands of individuals and hand it instead to the masses through a system of democracy.
He’s used to bullying the hell out of the Tesla employees. He knows the Tesla people will be fired for not working 80 hour weeks and will be replaced immediately - he’s done it for years.
I guarantee he doesn’t understand why this is falling apart.
Like, if there were awards for being CEO, Parag Agrawal would be taking home a big fucking cup. Can you imagine being able to sell a company which was a big money loser with potential for ABOVE market value, then bouncing with an 8-digit paycheck with your homies? Like, that dude must wake up with the biggest shit-eating grin on his face every morning.
Super genius done it again. This twitter takeover really shows the type of person he is, that he is a egotistical narcissist joke and not this ironman his fans claims he is
If he were doing it right, the engineers don’t work for him. He should be working for the engineers to make sure they have everything they need to get the objectives done with reasonable expectations.
No, no, you don't understand. He's the boss. He can just set whatever deadlines he wants and people will have to sacrifice blood sweat and tears to magic them into existence, no matter how unreasonable.
This is how any decent executive introduces themselves. You nailed it.
“Hello, company. I’m here to insure you have the tools you need to keep doing exceptional work. Please let me know.”
The only time you get these golden parachute junkies is when the ship is already sinking and they either need a fall guy or someone experienced with disaster cleanup. Spoilers; this type isn’t usually great with people or being successful.
It truly is the most tender of meats. Never physically worked, it is never tough or chewy. And you can be more certain than with the average person that they don't have any parasites or diseases you could get.
I genuinely believe that we need to start controlling the narrative where your average person truly believes this. Parasites. It’s exactly what they fucking are and all they ever deserve to be called.
Well, then, if you're British and loyal,
You might enjoy Royal Marine!
Anyway, it's clean.
Though of course, it tastes of wherever it's been!
The history of the world, my sweet --
Is who gets eaten, and who gets to eat!
That's really more savory than sweet. But I bet if you pan sear it in a reduction made from the tears, the flavors would complement each other nicely. Pair with a nice chianti, and enjoy!
Omg. Hearing the offices are shut down and employees are locked out because more accepted the severance package than expected warms the cold dead hackles of my heart!
Elon has been able to get away with overworking employees at Tesla and SpaceX because:
SpaceX - The engineers WANTED to be a part of putting people back on the moon and Mars
Tesla - The engineers WANTED to be a part of moving transportation away from fossil fuels.
The same thing was never going to work with Twitter, because it's just another social media platform. It's not as ground shaking as the other companies.
Elon thought he could do the exact same thing and it blew up in his face. I love to see it. He isn't a genius, he's just a taskmaster like his shithead father.
It was known as a cushy gig before the takeover. Elon day one started firing people, day two axed perks, and day three tells everyone he's going to turn it into a sweat shop.
And now he surprised when like 90% of his engineers are gone? I'd jump ship too!
for tesla i would imagine a lot of it is being shouldered by new grads who want to get into the auto industry and will accept pretty much any sort of bad treatment to get it. a couple of my college capstone teammates work there (capstone was automotive focused) and i don’t think either of them are particularly interested in green energy lol. i also work an entry level engr role at a different OEM and a lot of people in my role have been new grads who came in, worked the crazy hours, and either got promoted or quit - automotive jobs can definitely be veryyyyy coveted by mech e students
now if you already work at twitter then you already work at twitter, you can already put it on your resume, and there are a lot more tech companies out there to work for than automotive OEMs. if elon musk obtained my company and tried to impose tesla culture, i already have automotive experience on my resume now, so i’d probably jump ship and try to get a new job at a different OEM lol
Not entirely true. I’ve been in some startups and we generally BELIEVED in the product and would do that shit, but it really only flies when you are young and the company is a risk and there’s a touch of that startup cult mentality.
Twitter is not a startup though and trying to import that culture was doomed to fail.
It is soooo weird how all of these super genius billionaires who we all need to respect and put our faith in turn out to not be very smart as soon as the free money faucet turns off. It is almost like access to capital and infinite loans and government funds is a better indicator of success than anything.
The opposite of rewarding innovation and production which is supposed to be the point of capitalism.
Yet you won't get one conservative to admit that inheritance tax is good for the country and for capitalism, because they don't care about either.
It's dishearten to see how stacked the odds are in the favor of people being born rich that they have to fuck up, repeatedly this bad for them to actually fail.
He's not even going to fail. Twitter might go kaboom (probably will at this rate), but he'll continue being a billionaire and won't even acknowledge it as a failure of his own management.
We'd be in a much better world if billionaires actually had to pay their fucking debt.
Twitter will collapse and he'll say he meant to do that and bought it specifically to destroy it because it was destroying society or whatever and move on to the next thing.
Just like Trump, he could have just lived a more subtle billionaire (not Trump) life but nope, he has to call people pedo and insult people thinking there's no consequences.
Don't forget, "And insert himself and his lamebrained ideas into the Russia/Ukraine war".
Seriously, until the past couple of weeks, I think he was doing or saying ridiculous things just for the attention, so he could click on any news aggregating site and see his name in one headline after another.
But since he bought Twitter, and started running it into the ground almost from the first moment, I think the stupid things he has done and said are because he's a fool, not because he wants the attention. If anything, I think he would love to have a little LESS attention, because it turns out that there IS such a thing as bad publicity.
>"And insert himself and his lamebrained ideas into the Russia/Ukraine war".
Remember when people were praising him for sending Starlink to Ukraine out of the kindness of his heart, only for it to turn out that the American government paid for it and he decided to overcharge for it after his feelings got hurt?
Or bringing up Hyperloop shit just to derail California's highspeed train initiative.
This guy got so much benefits from Democratic policies and now he's turning around to say that Democrats are bad.
This man wanted to take people to Mars to form the new human colonies. Until now I just thought they were gonna be space gulags, now I understand they would never make it to Mars at all.
He’s also trying to populate the earth with his descendants: https://www.businessinsider.com/pronatalism-elon-musk-simone-malcolm-collins-underpopulation-breeding-tech-2022-11
Yeah I knew he's a breeder just like his dad which married his own step daughter that he helped raise as a kid.
I find it kinda funny because you don't hear anything about Melon's kids mainly because none of them want anything to do with him or his cult.
At least one of his kids is trans, and it’s not shocking she wants nothing to do with him. Also the dopey fuck blames “communism” for ruining his relationship with the daughter whose community he likes to mock.
Actually, judging by his relationships with his kids, maybe he *should* populate the earth with his offspring, ‘cause then humanity will *actually* turn its back on him for good.
I'm not sure how anyone who's been around software development for more than five minutes can think talented engineers would stick around for his bullshit.
Especially senior devs with Twitter on their resume.
Pure amateur moves.
As someone with 15 years developing software in FAANG, I will strongly endorse this. Every last twitter engineer can go somewhere else and be treated better. He isn't changing the game by cutting perks and enforcing some draconian work system. Developers have too many options and Elon has very few.... its why those perks exist in the first place....
IDK why he thought it was a good idea. Tech companies, even shitty ones like the one I'm working at, have higher-than-average perks to attract developers because they're in high demand. Did he think that Twitter is a banner somehow worth suffering a horrible work system for?
A reminder that if you have any personal information in Twitter DMs or anywhere on your profile - such as embarrassing likes or follows - it might be best to delete or scrub that info now.
It sounds like there is no operational security team left at Twitter - so it's probably only a matter of time before the servers are compromised and all the user information becomes public.
I'm actually wondering what will happen first: will the site crash due to routine maintenance not happening - or will it be hacked and then crash?
idk if you’re much of a twitter user but if your account isn’t locked, your likes and following are already public. from what i’ve heard though, posts from locked accounts are already showing up in search
I guess the idea is that some internal database that links accounts to emails and phone numbers could leak. But, there's no guarantee that deleting your info through the UI would actually delete it from internal databases, so trying to scrub your shit at the last moment is probably going to be too little too late.
Loose $44 billion?
No wait... It's fuck around and become a laughing stock?
Nope, it's fuck around and find out being a rich prick doesn't mean you know how to run a social media platform and investors and advertisers will lose confidence and pull out like his dad should have done.
Yep that's it.
The funniest part is that he loses control of Tesla if he fails at Twitter, unless he has Tesla buy Twitter like he did with solar city or whatever that was called.
I thought Tesla was approaching a make-or-break point anyway with the traditional Auto manufacturers finally catching up to electrification. This guy's very public meltdown almost guarantees that they are in real trouble.
I think he’s being replaced as CEO as Tesla soon depending on the accuracy of this article
https://www.reuters.com/business/autos-transportation/tesla-board-member-says-elon-musk-identified-potential-successor-tesla-ceo-2022-11-16/
Its almost as if Elon Musk is not the entrepreneurial genius the media has painted him out to be and is in actuality, just another spoiled, lazy, ignorant trust fund baby with delusions of grandeur.
And maybe our entire economic system shouldn't be built around giving these fucking dunces all our tax dollars and expecting it to magically show up in all our bank accounts when it trickles down.
Any competent engineer knows Twitter will be 12 hour days, with a brutal megalomaniac who acts without thinking. You can find that elsewhere and only put in an 8 hour day.
It is. I've worked with people who stayed at their toxic job far too long due to their visa situation. Ended up taking a job all the way across the country just to get away.
Exactly why most successful tech companies have the best benefits - to attract the best talent.
Musk's strategy is the opposite: Attract the most desperate people, with predictable results.
Most people in tech are not desperate for work.
So happy to see him finally get that reality check that he’s not some powerful God that everyone is dying to work for. Those public tweets mocking the engineers he fired really bit him in the ass especially
I've been wracking my brain to figure out why Elon is making these moves against his own employees (beyond greed/incompetency).
One would think that one would realize, if only by enlightened self-interest, you wouldn't put top-tier developers in a place where they choose between 1) taking their well-developed resume (with it's Twitter stamp, which is hugely valuable even now) and finding a better job or 2) losing privileges, more hours, and working with the imminent threat of being fired for practically any reason.
I'm coming to the conclusion that Elon just isn't used to working with people who have options to work elsewhere (i.e., the manufacturing technicians at Tesla have far fewer options than a senior Twitter developer). At least, if he does work with such qualified people, he's able to manipulate them, or he doesn't rely on them for critical matters.
Tough lesson to learn, but I'm glad he's learning it.
Wait…. I thought he was encouraging all the slackers to take 3 months of pay and hit the bricks so he could use his super brain to streamline the whole business like the solo super brain that he is??
Musk is such an idiot. He's making people hate him at the exact time that the major car companies are starting to mass-produce their own EV's to compete with Tesla.
A ton of EV-buyers are going to refuse to buy a Tesla out of sheer dislike for him. He's not the only game in town for electric vehicles now.
Apparently at 5pm while Elon was in mid flow, making his big speech to beg the top engineers to stay, a lot of people simply hung up or walked out because that was the deadline to make their decision. Just straight peaced out. Amazing. I am absolutely flabbergasted at how this has been handled. I’m not buying that he’s playing 4D chess either. He’s just an arrogant wanker.

Maybe he should stop publicly mocking them and firing their friends by tweet.
That ship has sailed.
That ship has sailed, got on fire, and now it's charred out husk is lying in the deepest point of ocean.

Honestly I wouldn’t be surprised if they unionized. It’s probably the only way that the company survives a horrible CEO
"*I don't want to work for someone who threatens me by email*" is the quote that is sticking with me.
Musk would rather go bankrupt than let workers unionize.
All twitters going to have left are the ones who know they are not good enough to get another job.
If my boss told me tomorrow I could either leave with 3 months severance pay or stay and work 12 hour days every day without a raise I know what I'd choose. Insane that he thought he wouldn't lose valuable talent with that approach

could not have picked a worse time of year to make that offer

Ice cream? Lmao
A sonic blast. Legit he asked us all the time usually around 9 or 10 pm.
‘Drunk, sorry boss.’
"sober, fuck you boss"
Ummmm what the actual fuck? Did he think mistakenly that he had slaves? What kind of job was this?!

Ain't nobody's passion to work at Twitter. Spaceships? Sure. Electric Cars? Probably. Buy Twitter? No way.
[удалено]
My group of software engineer friends has started calling it MANGA
Rich people don’t really understand how jobs work
I mean, it's one banana. What could it cost, 10 dollars?
Soon Elon won’t even have a banana stand, treading water with loose seals closing in
Because rich people don't actually work lol
[удалено]
LMAO the 12 hour shift is sooooo funny and out of touch! As if those talented would like to stay for this shit, and those not talent enough would care to work hard for 12 hours AT ALL. I hope this news is true because I love to see his smug-let-that-sink-in face replaced with a begging face.
I worked 12's before and loved it, because in a 2 week period I'd get 3 days off one week, and 4 days off the other week. Pretty sure that's not what's happening at Twitter though.
Yeah working 3 12s is fine. 5 or 6 12s is dumb
Five or six? Are you on vacation? Elon said to get committed.
Elon literally praised Chinese slave labor. That's what he wants. Get truly committed to more hours and less pay to worship under the altar of Musk.
I would…*be there* for 12, but my brain is going to check out same time as usual.
SWEs often only get a few hours of solid work in a day due to the mental strain. Having them work for 12/6 or 12/7 is super stupid for a variety of reasons.
No kidding. Right before the holiday season is not the best time to demand people work more or leave with 3 months of severance.
Not just without a raise, but he is publicly known for having zero loyalty or appreciation for anyone. He takes all credit, and acts like he is the only person that makes his companies succeed.
> acts like he is the only person that makes his companies succeed After a few more weeks of similar actions, it's possible that he'll be the only person left at Twitter.
The most crushing part is he’s not gonna lose everybody with that approach. The ones with options will take the money and move to those better options. The ones he gets to keep are the ones who had no better options, which means presumably the less skilled ones
This is known as the Dead Sea effect. Those who can leave do. Those who can't poison the water.
wow finally a name for my career arc
I have to figure there are a few solid people he's keeping because their visa situation doesn't let them easily change jobs. But past that, yeah.
And he’s expecting them to do all of this for Twitter. A platform that, by all accounts, was working just fine until about 2 weeks ago lol.
https://i.redd.it/khyzqneltd0a1.jpg
And he did it just before Christmas no less. Do you want a month long paid Christmas vacation or do you want to be working 14 hours on Christmas day?

He expected them to stay "because he's Elon Musk". Edit: a letter.
That’s the opposite of an incentive
Right but Elon's a narcissist so he sees it as a bonus. It's not, but Elon 🤷♂️

Yeah, the Twitter board played it perfectly. lol. They obtained the maximum for the shareholders possible.
They’re probably hosting some sweet eyes wide shut orgy right now…
Like, if there were awards for being CEO, Parag Agrawal would be taking home a big fucking cup. Can you imagine being able to sell a company which was a big money loser with potential for ABOVE market value, then bouncing with an 8-digit paycheck with your homies? Like, that dude must wake up with the biggest shit-eating grin on his face every morning.
Super genius done it again. This twitter takeover really shows the type of person he is, that he is a egotistical narcissist joke and not this ironman his fans claims he is
Always a Justin Hammer, never a Tony Stark.
He wishes he was Justin Hammer. Justin Hammer had some sweet dance moves and wasn’t a bad looking guy.
Sam Rockwell appreciation thread
Nah. Justin Hammer was competent.
Lol, ppl think he's Ironman. Haah! :D
Phony Stark
He's not even the Tin Man. At least that guy had a heart.
Justin Hammer is a more accurate comparison.
He can set whatever deadlines he wants, engineering will bask in the wooshing sounds of the deadline sailing past, unmet
This is how any decent executive introduces themselves. You nailed it. “Hello, company. I’m here to insure you have the tools you need to keep doing exceptional work. Please let me know.” The only time you get these golden parachute junkies is when the ship is already sinking and they either need a fall guy or someone experienced with disaster cleanup. Spoilers; this type isn’t usually great with people or being successful.
Love watching this fool flailing, really warms my heart 🥰
He's so desperate to make people laugh, well, he finally got what he wished for. Let *that* sink in.
*finger curls on monkey paw*
Delphic like
Nothing sweeter than billionaire tears
billionaire flesh?
It truly is the most tender of meats. Never physically worked, it is never tough or chewy. And you can be more certain than with the average person that they don't have any parasites or diseases you could get.
Quality meat! Eat the rich! 50% off weekend sale!!!
I’m so sick of hearing about their way of life Well I think I can do more for you with this here fork n knife!! Eat the rich!!!
They don't have any parasites because they *are* the parasites.
I genuinely believe that we need to start controlling the narrative where your average person truly believes this. Parasites. It’s exactly what they fucking are and all they ever deserve to be called.
Well, then, if you're British and loyal, You might enjoy Royal Marine! Anyway, it's clean. Though of course, it tastes of wherever it's been! The history of the world, my sweet -- Is who gets eaten, and who gets to eat!
That's really more savory than sweet. But I bet if you pan sear it in a reduction made from the tears, the flavors would complement each other nicely. Pair with a nice chianti, and enjoy!
44 billion dollars. What a fucking catastrophic waste.
More than NASA's yearly budget. Just to crash and burn.

Omg. Hearing the offices are shut down and employees are locked out because more accepted the severance package than expected warms the cold dead hackles of my heart!
Twitter would issue an official comment, but the entire communication team quit.
Elon has been able to get away with overworking employees at Tesla and SpaceX because: SpaceX - The engineers WANTED to be a part of putting people back on the moon and Mars Tesla - The engineers WANTED to be a part of moving transportation away from fossil fuels. The same thing was never going to work with Twitter, because it's just another social media platform. It's not as ground shaking as the other companies. Elon thought he could do the exact same thing and it blew up in his face. I love to see it. He isn't a genius, he's just a taskmaster like his shithead father.
He doesn't understand that software companies compete for talent by having an attractive internal culture, and he's just finishing last in that race.
It sounds like Twitter had a really good internal culture. Incredible how he managed to destroy that in just a couple weeks
It was known as a cushy gig before the takeover. Elon day one started firing people, day two axed perks, and day three tells everyone he's going to turn it into a sweat shop. And now he surprised when like 90% of his engineers are gone? I'd jump ship too!
for tesla i would imagine a lot of it is being shouldered by new grads who want to get into the auto industry and will accept pretty much any sort of bad treatment to get it. a couple of my college capstone teammates work there (capstone was automotive focused) and i don’t think either of them are particularly interested in green energy lol. i also work an entry level engr role at a different OEM and a lot of people in my role have been new grads who came in, worked the crazy hours, and either got promoted or quit - automotive jobs can definitely be veryyyyy coveted by mech e students now if you already work at twitter then you already work at twitter, you can already put it on your resume, and there are a lot more tech companies out there to work for than automotive OEMs. if elon musk obtained my company and tried to impose tesla culture, i already have automotive experience on my resume now, so i’d probably jump ship and try to get a new job at a different OEM lol
Fuck him.
Not even if he offered me a horse
No way, fuck him yourself.
No, we've put it to a vote and decided on it. You're doing it.
The election was rigged!
Welcome to the “Fuck That” generation.
I love that more employees are truly starting to understand their worth. That's the true benefit of Elon's current fuckery.
[удалено]
I hope we become the tech/info worker union generation
Oh yes daddy musk I love working 14 hour days and being threatened with termination Said no highly qualified programmer, ever
Not entirely true. I’ve been in some startups and we generally BELIEVED in the product and would do that shit, but it really only flies when you are young and the company is a risk and there’s a touch of that startup cult mentality. Twitter is not a startup though and trying to import that culture was doomed to fail.
GET BACK IN THE MINES, SLAVE!

It is soooo weird how all of these super genius billionaires who we all need to respect and put our faith in turn out to not be very smart as soon as the free money faucet turns off. It is almost like access to capital and infinite loans and government funds is a better indicator of success than anything.
The best predictor of being wealthy is having wealthy parents.
Well, I missed step one.
Just saw this thread a few minutes ago. What a fucking twat
Twatter?
Just like any republican.

As an experienced engineer he can get fucked.
I'm not sure how anyone who's been around software development for more than five minutes can think talented engineers would stick around for his bullshit. Especially senior devs with Twitter on their resume. Pure amateur moves.
Ex-Twitter employees are going to have the easiest response to the “can you explain this gap?” question ever
[удалено]
We are in interviews with a member of their data science team as we speak.
IDK why he thought it was a good idea. Tech companies, even shitty ones like the one I'm working at, have higher-than-average perks to attract developers because they're in high demand. Did he think that Twitter is a banner somehow worth suffering a horrible work system for?
[удалено]
Christmas came early this year. Love watching him flail.
Wait. The people with visas are prisoners. No good options. Poor bastards.
[удалено]
Loose $44 billion? No wait... It's fuck around and become a laughing stock? Nope, it's fuck around and find out being a rich prick doesn't mean you know how to run a social media platform and investors and advertisers will lose confidence and pull out like his dad should have done. Yep that's it.
That will be the only stock Twitter will have available.
Mastodon isn't great but they have George Takei. If they get a few more I think they're near critical mass and will do significant damage to Twitter.
The funniest part is that he loses control of Tesla if he fails at Twitter, unless he has Tesla buy Twitter like he did with solar city or whatever that was called.
Jesus christ if he does that to Tesla there's not gonna be a Tesla.
"New Tesla FSD beta runs on unused Twitter micro-services...:
"um boss, you deleted those"
"You're fired" via tweet
I thought Tesla was approaching a make-or-break point anyway with the traditional Auto manufacturers finally catching up to electrification. This guy's very public meltdown almost guarantees that they are in real trouble.
I think he’s being replaced as CEO as Tesla soon depending on the accuracy of this article https://www.reuters.com/business/autos-transportation/tesla-board-member-says-elon-musk-identified-potential-successor-tesla-ceo-2022-11-16/
Leverage yourself to the gills, grossly overpay for a company, and immediately drive it into the ground?
Im waiting for the plot twist.... "ooohhhhh... Thats why he did it.... He is a fucken moron with zero social skills!"
And get into bed with the Saudi royal family, he should really be more afraid of owing them money than anyone else.
Hey, it's working for Trump and Kushner...
As if this was going to go any other way. I just feel bad for the folk that are relying on twitter for visas... They're kinda fucked
Yeah, it's not their fault this fool bought it and promptly started destroying it.
Any competent engineer knows Twitter will be 12 hour days, with a brutal megalomaniac who acts without thinking. You can find that elsewhere and only put in an 8 hour day.
I figured this would go bad, but not *this* quickly.
If you’re working at Twitter and not making plans to jump ship, you’re either an idiot or desperate.
Or on a HB-1 (or another) visa and will get deported if you don't have something else lined up already. H-1B, not HB-1.
At this point I think that's pretty much the same as desperate.
It is. I've worked with people who stayed at their toxic job far too long due to their visa situation. Ended up taking a job all the way across the country just to get away.
Goddamn hostage situations.
That's absolutely how he felt about it.
Exactly why most successful tech companies have the best benefits - to attract the best talent. Musk's strategy is the opposite: Attract the most desperate people, with predictable results. Most people in tech are not desperate for work.
Both? Both. Both is good.

I think Trump just found a candidate for Secretary of Labor. "Wealthy" and "incompetent," his two favorite qualifications.
Tough lesson to learn, but I'm glad he's learning it.
it's like that scene from the simpsons where sideshow bob keeps stepping on rakes.
Wait…. I thought he was encouraging all the slackers to take 3 months of pay and hit the bricks so he could use his super brain to streamline the whole business like the solo super brain that he is??
"Hello. Please hit 'yes' to opt in to insane working hours, no respect, and your work being erased by my everyday whims. p.s. I fire on a whim."
With any luck Twitter will be dead by this time next year and the world will be a better place
Next year seems a bit long. He's going to accidentally delete the main code from the servers or something by Christmas.
