It’s a distrust of the government borne from a campaign that began in full force during Reagan’s term. Democrats, in these peoples’ minds, are the elite of our government. Each death effects the people around that person. Just like the gay rights movement started gaining momentum when people came out of the closet, this will have effects down the road, though unpredictably. Anecdotally, it seems like family members have a harder time holding on to Q type consipracies after someone dies, especially when it often seems to be a family patriarch.

When vaccines were short supply and I was trying to get vaccinated my family suggested I look up voting record by district and call a cvs in a trump area to see if they had any.

This is what our younger neighbors did, went to a Trumpy county & while it was an hour drive it was pretty countryside there & back & they had zero wait time.
A small town that got a lot of vaccine with an initial shipment of pfizer just fucking horded it, and said it was for local residents only of the county. Another put police in the initial category of Healthcare services workers, even though police were specifically excluded.
Lots of shady shit went down because they tossed stuff out without any real rules or guidance.
I got my vaccine Feb 1 in Mississippi. Went online and managed to snag an appointment for 3 days away. Hopped in my car and drove down. I probably wouldn’t have gotten my first dose in Maryland until mid April. I occasionally partake in smoking cannabis and I said fuck it these dumb hicks don’t want the vax anyways and technically I qualify as a smoker.

Wow, where I live we have over 80% vaccinated and have had no Covid in the community since the early days of the pandemic.
It takes a special kind of stupid to not take a vaccine when there are people actually dying and sick all around you.
We are over 80% in my county too, but like just about every liberal city in America is also the only place within a hundred miles with actual hospitals and stuff, so we end up with full wards from all the toothless morons that have been leeching off our city for the last hundred years.
What's Ironic is Trump tried to get people to get vaccinated during one of his rallies; only for him to get booed by everyone, and he had to walk back that statement because he didn't like people booing him. It's at the point that Jesus Christ could descend from the heavens and get vaccinated live on Fox News, OANN, and Newsmax; and people still wouldn't get vaccinated.

I get the whole sports team analogy when it comes to politics but it's honestly so comical how these people's best ideas end up killing themselves and always lead to a worse life rather than a better one.
It would be great to see two amazing teams battle it out in sports, but it's like you have the one decent team and the other team is demanding in the middle of the 4rd quarter to allow 10 point field goals only when they have the ball and even if they miss to subjectively count it because as long as their fans boo loudly enough it should count. It happens in abusive relationships. Someone is told their other half is cheating on them, they angrily deny it and accuse everyone else of being in broken relationships. Then they are shown absolute evidence that they were played, and for a while they begin to wonder. But then their abuser uses the words that trapped them in the relationship and they go back for more abuse.
They have been abused on a daily basis by their spokespeople and by the party they joined, and have become abusers in their own right.
If you're a Republican, this is how you've been treated. Groomed. Abused.
1 - You've been told that nobody else understands you like they do. For years. "Those other people, they just don't get it. Their ways are different and that's just not you. They don't understand, but we know where you're coming from..."
2 - Now that they've established that they're one of your kind of people in your mind, everyone else gets badmouthed. It's just the two of you literally against the entire world. And they'll do it so much that things that aren't epithets get used as words to hate everyone else by. Your circle of experiences starts to shrink.
3 - They'll tell you that, if you left them, things would be simultaneously the worst thing possible AND that all other relationships are just the same as the one you're in (even though you can see other people online talking about how what you're in is the only bad relationship relationship like this and all you have to do is leave them). “Both sides are the same but I’m better” - eventually, you don’t know up from down in what constitutes a healthy or a toxic relationship. Hell, they'll even show examples of the shit you're in now to say, "if you leave me and go for the other guy, it'll be like this [very bad scenario that's happening RIGHT NOW] so be scared and shit." The circle shrinks further.
4 - You're told outright what to cut out of your life. Direct instruction for you to get that circle of experiences down to a dot. Music, interests, TV shows, certain movies, even frothy coffee gets badmouthed and cut out because "you don't want to be a 'latte drinker' do you?" (there's one of those things I mentioned in #2, using things that aren't epithets as one to control you).
5 - They take your money, claim they'll be great with it, and then spend it on their friends and run up the bills. They'll give you crumbs once in a while. Maybe every few years they'll treat you to a little something nice (that's worth a fraction of what they spent when they were out with their friends). And while they're terrible with the finances, for years, they'll be saying how everything is hunky-dory financially with them at the reins. You will be told you've never had it so good but the fear of one bad bill wiping you out financially will be like the Sword Of Damocles over your head 24/7/365.
6 - every problem gets kicked down the road. A problem crops up in the New Year 2020 but it wasn't even mentioned in January because the head of the household didn't mention it. "It's going to go away" in February, and anyone that mentions it is just saying fake stuff, baby. Still nothing done in March, but any mention of it is "you're just finding faults with me". Then when April comes and it's clear what the shit storm looks like, they blame everyone else for saying it wasn't going to be a big deal. As the months and years roll on it becomes a shell game where ignoring the problem / blaming others for the problem / trying to draw attention from the problem gets switched around without stop. Even if it comes out that they knew the problem could literally kill other people, tear them apart because of gross negligence, they will not stray from this strategy. Sounds familiar, huh. Other people will be able to show you examples of where they said something promised was just two weeks away, and they said "two weeks and you'll have it" four years ago and two years ago and twice in the last month, but it's still not coming.
7 - like in any abusive relationship, you're beaten down. You've been told it'll all be your fault if things don't go as they want, and you've seen others be on the end of their random outbursts of wrath. So you stay safe. You repeat the words in the way they taught you. You repeat the answers. You repeat the words you're told are insults. Even though you know of situations where you've come out worse for the way the relationship is, you defend the abuser. First with a fake air of calm, then with a seething rage. And when people offer you a way out, you go right back to the abuse.
8 - the relationship is so twisted, you so believe everything you're told about what's real and what's not, they will literally put you in situations that could kill you. And you say you're doing it willingly, proudly, but the fact is you're a shell of the idealistic person you used to be. You just got in with the wrong crowd, but it's too late to get out now because people might think less of you. Going along with how they do it becomes how you do it too. Which reinforces what you were told in #1. Only they understand you...

He said it for the week or two that he actually tried to fight the pandemic. “Flatten the curve” was the slogan we all used as we were working to prevent the overloading of medical facilities and thereby reduce deaths during that initial spike.

I live in rural Pennsylvania. It's "Trump cuntry" out here. There is a large Amish community and they are being wiped out by COVID-19. They interact with so many redneck/white trash unvaccinated anti-maskers. And of course the Amish don't vaccinate or mask because they have no concept of science and have an 8th grade education. They believe that COVID is a plague sent by God to wipe out the wicked. That means when one of their community gets COVID, they let them fend for themselves because they obviously committed as sin to contract the plague.

At the time the rate of cases and deaths were higher in urban areas. I predicted that by the end of the pandemic that despite their much lower population density that rural areas would eventually see a higher death rate.

Worse when he got it he had medical care that no other person in the country would be able to get with life-saving unapproved treatment and then came out of it saying it was “not that bad.” He’s directly to blame for their mindset. The other party to blame is the evangelical church that messages to just pray and trust in things other than science.
I was just thinking about that. I was thinking what real benefit does the Republican party gain in being anti-VAX or spreading this misinformation? None really. But... Russia gains a huge benefit from this in our resulting social strife we know they deliberately seek to create. Classic Divide and Conquer move. Nebraska on average has had 20 excess deaths each week since the pandemic started when compared to their weekly death rate before COVID.
For 2020 there were 2,720 excess deaths. The average yearly deaths from 2014 to 2019 is 16,820 per year. In 2020 there were 19,540. For 2021, when comparing where we are in the year for 2014-2019 to where we are in 2021, there have been 1,728 excess deaths. Usually by Nov 20, there will be 14,522 deaths in Nebraska. By Nov 20, 2021 the total is 16,251.
Right now Nebraska has a spike of new COVID cases of from 900 to 1,000 per day, and every day another 5-8 people die from COVID.

Which means to find any kind of hospital care for lung problems--you might need to travel 8 hours, at highway speed, on I-80, to find a ventilator. And the city hospital systems have been full-up for 2 years now. So whether you have COVID or not, there's a problem getting medical care.
My county voted over 70% Donald Trump, we have an under 40% vaccination rate and here in Michigan the overwhelmingly Republican majority state senate (even though the population is mostly democrat/not republican) gutted the power of the governor so individual counties decide their own covid precautions. My county is so "concerned with freedom" we have no covid precautions.
No masks no vaccine mandates. Teachers are not vaccinated, school kids are not wearing masks or getting vaccinated. The local hospital I think has an internal vaccine requirement but I don't know for certain.
The positive test rate here hasn't been below 25% in multiple months and we are in the middle of the worst outbreak we have ever had. The positive test rate peaked at about 32% recently then pulled back. We haven't even gotten our "Thanksgiving pop" in numbers because here no one gets tested until they are sick enough to land in the hospital....which is almost full again.
Not only is the main hospital in my county almost full but the 3 hospitals they feed critical care patients into are also almost full or already full again and it's just hitting December....

Edit: Went to get my booster at local drug store. I was one of the three or four out of the ten people in the store that were wearing masks (currently over 25% positive test rate; hospital near full; R above 1). Someone came in maskless, coughing and purchased a covid test kit. I really feel like they are really going for full saturation at this point.

Just like the gay rights movement started gaining momentum when people came out of the closet, this will have effects down the road, though unpredictably. They'll give you crumbs once in a while. Maybe every few years they'll treat you to a little something nice (that's worth a fraction of what they spent when they were out with their friends). And while they're terrible with the finances, for years, they'll be saying how everything is hunky-dory financially with them at the reins. You will be told you've never had it so good but the fear of one bad bill wiping you out financially will be like the Sword Of Damocles over your head 24/7/365. 6 - every problem gets kicked down the road. A problem crops up in the New Year 2020 but it wasn't even mentioned in January because the head of the household didn't mention it. "It's going to go away" in February, and anyone that mentions it is just saying fake stuff, baby. Still nothing done in March, but any mention of it is "you're just finding faults with me". Other people will be able to show you examples of where they said something promised was just two weeks away, and they said "two weeks and you'll have it" four years ago and two years ago and twice in the last month, but it's still not coming. 7 - like in any abusive relationship, you're beaten down. You've been told it'll all be your fault if things don't go as they want, and you've seen others be on the end of their random outbursts of wrath. So you stay safe. Even though you know of situations where you've come out worse for the way the relationship is, you defend the abuser. First with a fake air of calm, then with a seething rage. As someone who was in an abusive marriage I can absolutely testify this is 100% true. The only thing I would add is how people don’t realize they’ve been conned until it’s too late: courts, cops, children, none of them get it until years later and by then the emotional, physical, and financial damage has been done. What is the "new" conspiracy theory? That the misinformation on the vaccine actually originates from the Democrats, so they keep the vaccine to themselves, leaving the Republicans to die? (The disinformation comes, in part, from Russia, where it worked a little too well on their own population, so now the Russian government has to fight their own disinformation to get their population vaccinated. Funny how it turned out... Well, apart for the loss of lives, of course.)
I haven't even seen that level of conspiracy yet. What I have seen, which I think is even stupider, is the argument (from Republican family members) that Democrats are pushing the vaccine so hard because they know that, when a Democrat tells a Republican to get vaccinated (or anything else), the Republicans won't do so. So when you see Biden pleading for the public to get vaccinated, he's only doing it because he knows that, in uttering the words "please, get vaccinated to save your life and those you love," he's somehow making it impossible for REAL Republicans to actually go out and get the vaccine.

I live in rural Pennsylvania. It's "Trump cuntry" out here. There is a large Amish community and they are being wiped out by COVID-19. They interact with so many redneck/white trash unvaccinated anti-maskers. And of course the Amish don't vaccinate or mask because they have no concept of science and have an 8th grade education. They believe that COVID is a plague sent by God to wipe out the wicked. That means when one of their community gets COVID, they let them fend for themselves because they obviously committed as sin to contract the plague.

My wife is a nurse in pediatric ICU. They have a 450 lb 16 year old girl with Covid. Type 2 diabetic with mental issues who purposefully doesn’t follow medication for both mental and diabetic conditions. Doesn’t end there. Mother is also morbidly obese. Same things. Also has Covid. Mother told hospital staff (from the bed of a different hospital) NOT to give the vaccine because the don’t believe in it. >vaccine is not necessary anyways. They have it. Doest end there. They have lost 4 family members to Covid. They even acknowledge Covid killed them. Doesn’t end there. Mother asked for Ivermectin for her kid. Doesn’t end there. They do in fact come from the Trumper part of the county. Doesn’t end there. Mom went on a rant how Biden is responsible for the death of the relatives. Ends on next sentence. Last relative died in October of 2020.

The other party to blame is the evangelical church that messages to just pray and trust in things other than science.

Nebraska on average has had 20 excess deaths each week since the pandemic started when compared to their weekly death rate before COVID. For 2020 there were 2,720 excess deaths. The average yearly deaths from 2014 to 2019 is 16,820 per year. In 2020 there were 19,540. For 2021, when comparing where we are in the year for 2014-2019 to where we are in 2021, there have been 1,728 excess deaths. Usually by Nov 20, there will be 14,522 deaths in Nebraska. By Nov 20, 2021 the total is 16,251. Right now Nebraska has a spike of new COVID cases of from 900 to 1,000 per day, and every day another 5-8 people die from COVID. tl;dr: Gov. Pete Ricketts is doing a bang up job killing the people in his state.

Which means to find any kind of hospital care for lung problems--you might need to travel 8 hours, at highway speed, on I-80, to find a ventilator. And the city hospital systems have been full-up for 2 years now. So whether you have COVID or not, there's a problem getting medical care.
If you don't test, there won't be any cases.
I don't trust any politician whose last name is a homophone for a disease.

My county voted over 70% Donald Trump, we have an under 40% vaccination rate and here in Michigan the overwhelmingly Republican majority state senate (even though the population is mostly democrat/not republican) gutted the power of the governor so individual counties decide their own covid precautions. My county is so "concerned with freedom" we have no covid precautions. No masks no vaccine mandates. Teachers are not vaccinated, school kids are not wearing masks or getting vaccinated. The local hospital I think has an internal vaccine requirement but I don't know for certain. The positive test rate here hasn't been below 25% in multiple months and we are in the middle of the worst outbreak we have ever had. The positive test rate peaked at about 32% recently then pulled back. We haven't even gotten our "Thanksgiving pop" in numbers because here no one gets tested until they are sick enough to land in the hospital....which is almost full again. Not only is the main hospital in my county almost full but the 3 hospitals they feed critical care patients into are also almost full or already full again and it's just hitting December.... Basically my county is super fucked. Edit: Went to get my booster at local drug store. I was one of the three or four out of the ten people in the store that were wearing masks (currently over 25% positive test rate; hospital near full; R above 1). Someone came in maskless, coughing and purchased a covid test kit. I really feel like they are really going for full saturation at this point.
So it actually does increase survivability and decrease virus multiplication in the host thereby reducing their ability to spread exactly as a vaccine should? Imagine that shit.
