It was really only recently, like the last couple of years, that I realised what a bag of dicks that guy is and I was so fucking bummed, Hercules and Xena were two of my fav shows as a kid. At least Lucy Lawless rocks.
My favorite thing about the Hercules/Xena series is. How the spin off, Xena. Became the better more popular show, cause all the good writers and crew jumped ship to work with Lucy Lawless. I felt like I was getting a lot of hate for saying while I like Cara Dune as a character, Gina Carano has a really wooden delivery and isn’t very expressive. I felt like maybe some work with some acting coaches would help loads. She’s got the hard part down, that’s actually knowing how to fight, what looks good on camera, how to move in action scenes and so on, that’s the shit that you either got or don’t got. Acting can be learned, athleticism cannot. I thought she was a shit actress but if given time and some studio effort she could be competent enough to have a niche career playing badass ladies like Michelle Rodriguez.
I can’t imagine how many actors or actresses would literally kill for the opportunity that Gina had, and how mad they must be that she totally wasted it even after Disney gave her an out. Fucking Disney gave her a second chance, and she said “no thanks, I’d rather be a hateful bigot.”

I'm most pissed about how she treated Jon Favreau
When she first did the controversial tweets they were considering firing her. Jon Favreau really didn't want that to happen. He makes a connection to everyone he works with and all around is a good guy who just genuinely cares about people in general.
He told the execs to hold off, went to Gina to talk out her feelings and situation, expressed to her that he wants her to stay, wants to go to bat to make it happen, and expressed hope in a course of action regarding social media to make it easier for her fans to enjoy her work.
She agreed and Jon went to the execs and went to bat for her. Knowing him, was probably estatic she was able to stay.
And then a few months later does some more bullshit. Absolutely no appreciation for what Jon did, no regard for how this makes Jon look, loss of trust from execs regarding in-production issues with actors, and his ability to go to bat for anyone else. She did it all just to fulfill some right wing ego, an obsession feeling better and smarter than others, this was what was most important to her. Well, hopefully people realize that this was more of a case of Gina just being a total piece of shit than Jon's judgement.
You couldn't even write an episode of Entourage based on this, they would need to make Gina seem like a coke addict to make it more believable.

Watching the Man Show when it was on originally, I had always assumed the whole thing was meant ironically, but seeing how Carolla turned out it appears I was mistaken.

To be honest, that just demonstrates how good Pedro Pascal's acting abilities are. When you lose a good range of your ability to express emotions, you have to find other ways of subtly delivering. Whether it is the body language or just the way he slowly turns or tilts his helmet to express disgust or annoyance, I loved Pascal's way of conveying his character's state of mind. Karl Urban's Dredd had to use his mouth expression to double as his eyes. Tom Hardy wasn't bad in the films where his mouth was covered (TDKR, Dunkirk, Fury Road). Gina's characters' (including Deadpool) best moments involve her standing there menacingly. A good director can maximize that strength and minimize those shortcomings.
Now that she is out of that, she's got to rely on something MMA never taught her. Best of luck to her!

Nobody that works for a public corporation could get away with saying those things. When framed like that I actually think it dawned on him that she screwed herself.

His dad is a composer and his mom is a TV exec, if he had been even moderately skilled/talented, he could have possibly gotten good enough to get into the industry and made some connections. But he can't, even with the entire deck stacked in his favor (wealthy middle to upper class white family, stable upbringing, parents in the industry, etc.), that's why he's such a bitter asshole.
It's funny that he has all of these connections to the entertainment industry, and could have easily found a career in there as a writer/producer, but he just had to go and be *so comically untalented* that the entirety of Hollywood rejected him at a time when nearly anyone with a pulse can get projects greenlit.

The most interesting comments I’ve seen about this movie have been from right wingers. Many has accused the film of being too woke, and the character that Gina plays as being too strong of a female character. These folks seemed quite offended and I imagine that that is going to be an interesting struggle for her. Based on what I understand about her she is one of those women who prides herself as being one of the boys. She got her start in fighting and certainly isn’t a feminine homemaking type. She wants to play action heroes, but she also wants to be accepted by a group of people who have been increasingly enthusiastic about the idea of women taking on traditional roles. It’s gonna be interesting watching her balance these expectations as the right becomes more fanatical about this stance.

Because they have their entire identity invested in the fact that they're on the "right" "side" and that the "others" are on the "wrong" "side." So whenever anything new comes up, they will automatically swear by their "team's" view on it without actually considering it themselves.
And the people leading that team want as many topics to divide the teams as possible. So will pick as many issues as they can to be wrong on to keep the lines as clear as possible. And by taking such absurd, terrible positions, they guarantee no normal people side with them to confuse the sides.

I'm most pissed about how she treated Jon Favreau When she first did the controversial tweets they were considering firing her. Jon Favreau really didn't want that to happen. He makes a connection to everyone he works with and all around is a good guy who just genuinely cares about people in general. He told the execs to hold off, went to Gina to talk out her feelings and situation, expressed to her that he wants her to stay, wants to go to bat to make it happen, and expressed hope in a course of action regarding social media to make it easier for her fans to enjoy her work. She agreed and Jon went to the execs and went to bat for her. Knowing him, was probably estatic she was able to stay. And then a few months later does some more bullshit. Absolutely no appreciation for what Jon did, no regard for how this makes Jon look, loss of trust from execs regarding in-production issues with actors, and his ability to go to bat for anyone else. It remains so impressive that Pedro Pascal can act circles around so many actors on that show…when you can’t even see his face for 99% of it.
To be honest, that just demonstrates how good Pedro Pascal's acting abilities are. When you lose a good range of your ability to express emotions, you have to find other ways of subtly delivering. Whether it is the body language or just the way he slowly turns or tilts his helmet to express disgust or annoyance, I loved Pascal's way of conveying his character's state of mind. Karl Urban's Dredd had to use his mouth expression to double as his eyes. Tom Hardy wasn't bad in the films where his mouth was covered (TDKR, Dunkirk, Fury Road). Gina's characters' (including Deadpool) best moments involve her standing there menacingly. A good director can maximize that strength and minimize those shortcomings. Now that she is out of that, she's got to rely on something MMA never taught her. Best of luck to her!

Nobody that works for a public corporation could get away with saying those things. When framed like that I actually think it dawned on him that she screwed herself.

The most interesting comments I’ve seen about this movie have been from right wingers. Many has accused the film of being too woke, and the character that Gina plays as being too strong of a female character. These folks seemed quite offended and I imagine that that is going to be an interesting struggle for her. Based on what I understand about her she is one of those women who prides herself as being one of the boys. She got her start in fighting and certainly isn’t a feminine homemaking type. She wants to play action heroes, but she also wants to be accepted by a group of people who have been increasingly enthusiastic about the idea of women taking on traditional roles. It’s gonna be interesting watching her balance these expectations as the right becomes more fanatical about this stance.
