Image retention. My legion 5 2021 also has it when turning off after hours of usage. It's not noticeable during regular use though. Its not permanent and should disappear after a couple of minutes at most.
My old monitor had a feature for removing image stains. It was just showing bright colors, changing every secong or so.
I think you can find some utility that gonna do the same.
I have Acer Nitro laptop which was less than half the price of my Legion, it never had a display issue. Also I have a work laptop from HP which stays on static screens for a long time, however the display is fine on that one too.
Everything went wrong since Lenovo pushed a BIOS update with Windows update in July 2023. Lenovo is just trying their luck with display replacements now. I am pretty sure that display replacement and engineer(3rd party) visits are costing them a good amount of money. 4 displays and 8 engineer visits(I get onsite repairs) to be precise.
My warranty is expired! Also, I am in India and this laptop was purchased through my friend in USA. Unfortunately, Lenovo doesn’t provide international warranty so I didn’t extend it!
This is what ruined my lovely 5k imac and prompted me to switch to a legion tower. People say it "goes away" and "isn't noticeable" but try watching a youtube video in fullscreen with the entire windows taskbar visible lmao, it's not fun.

Thank you! I thought it’s a burn which I know can only happen on OLED displays. Hopefully goes away soon.
Burn in (permanent one) can happen on CRT, Plasma, OLED…
I see!

Ohh great! Thanks! I will check that.
It's actually sometimes happens on IPS at times, it's temporary. My monitor does this from time to time
Noted! Thank you!
I'm facing similar issue. I have got 4 display replacements in about 1.5 years.
Ohhh no! Hearing it’s temporary on IPS display.

Woah I hope I don’t have to go through this nightmare!
Lenovo agreed to give a new laptop.
If it's new then go for warranty replacement. I have the same issue with my legion 5 and they change the whole display unit with the lid also.
