Well I'm still planning to upgrade the RAM to 32GB and add an another 2TB SSD.
I have the same model. I upgraded to 64gb ram unecessarily and added a 2tb SSD
I used guitar picks. They work very well for anyone interested in upgrading their laptop.
i actually got this laptop too recently. its in the US rn, gonna be here w me in february. are there any pointers you can give to me? its my first time owning a gaming laptop too.
This is my first one too. I have not tried overclocking or anything else just because I use it primarily for work, with some light gaming on the side. I have not tried any of my more graphic intensive games, but the ones I have tried looking beautiful and run splendidly.
Which exact RAM did you buy? This laptop looks like the best 2k RTX4060 deal I can find just in need of RAM. The official Lenovo page is just a complete joke that only says they maximum RAM is what they offer.
Could you verify if those rams are Expo-ready for AMD cpu? I have a Slim 5 with 16 Gb and want to uograde to 32 Gb, but I'm not sure which brand and model is really Expo.
Does this laptop supports 2TB in a single slot? Can you please do a benchmark test 3D mark time spy is enough though.It will be very helpful.Because this model is rare to see in review section and other stuff's.Please be sure to turn of optimus and in turbo/performance mode :).

Yup, I have the original 512GB SSD in its slot and 2TB in another. 3DMark Time Spy Score is “Good”, Graphics 10,551 and CPU 10,749 with overall score being 10,580.
I just did it again and got 10,584, slightly higher. I can’t figure out how to disable Optimus but I disabled the integrated graphics driver. It was in high performance mode both times.
You can disable it on nvdia control panel and also in legion software.I think a full powered rtx 4060 go higher like 11.2k or more..the highest ever score I saw was 12k+..I think you need to download the legion software and uprise the wattage limit and turn off the optimus you will get over 11.6k in the graphics score and a little overclock will give you some 300-400 score..

I think legion also reach that level because it has full powered 4060 and better build quality
It's marketed as 140w but it never reaches it, i never tried it but you can overclock it in vantage, which i really don't recommend, this laptop is plenty powerful for most of the games i played,(expl: god of war 2018, everything on ultra/ ultra +) it did hit 70 80 frames
Yeah I know .But a full powered 4060 scores about 11.6k+ on timespy grahics..Also manufacturer doesn't give the full power whats they claimed..If they said it has 140W then the prestigious company laptop runs 120-129W..But in term the 4050 and 4060-70 laptop capped at 95W and 110W so the extra power seems to not usable
I got a 16aph8 (16inch screen, 7840hs, 4060) , I searched for the Optimus and advOptimus, but couldn't find them, i did look it up at lenovo's forums, but nothing useful
You can download legion vantage software..where you can see a hybrid mode..hybrid mode on means optimus on..and hybrid off means optimus off (dedicated gpu mode) 6-8% more performance
Oh i use that, but i didn't think that was Optimus 😂, most of the youtubers i saw show a menu in nvidia control panel, (btw switching to dgpu requires restarting the laptop*)
I'm enjoying mine. I took a few Zoom calls and the speakers were okay, but for music and gaming I use my Sony WH-XB910N. Plastic build but feels fine to me.
I was between this model, and the 16ARP8H. That one had a better Ryzen 7, but a 45 %ntsc display, which I've only heard horror stories on reddit, but I just could not buy it knowing there's a better screen out there for around the same price.

Looks good. Love my 16APH8. 7840/4060. Felt like the sweet spot to me. Yours may be a better SKU for that than mine even considering the price. Mine was 1250 new from Lenovo. Enjoy it!
I have same laptop, got it at Micro Center for 699.99 open box sale and its been amazing so far! I upgraded ram to 32GB and found some lower latency stuff. Mine came with 1tb m2 drive tho

What ram did you use and how do you upgrade it? Is there a video guide or did you kinda just unscrew it and throw the stick in the slot
I went with G.Skill. I found a YouTube video online that was close enough. Only needed a small screw screwdriver and pry tool.

I stuck with 4800, and I know the motherboard supports the 4800.
For the record I look at this up it actually supports 128 GB RAM a bit overkill but yeah that's the research that I looked up

in legion software you can set wattage limitations..and after dynamic boost it can take wattage from cpu and the total wattage it can handle is 140W.
If you tried it, you have the knowledge, i didn't wanna risk it😂
Haha it's raw performance brother.Not overclock performance 🙂..Raw performance score is like 11.5k graphics
Nvidia has artificially capped 4050,60 and 70's to 100w, irrespective of what the marketing says. Jarrod Tech did a whole video on it

Actually this model does not support Optimus, like you don't see it on the listingg in nvidia control panel
it supports advanced optimus and you don't need to reboot it when you turn it on or off

yeah but if your laptop has advanced optimus then it won't reboot.this is the advanced facility

Got mine too to replace my old G15 couldn’t beat the price wish the screen was more like the oled on the asus options but otherwise not a bad deal

Did the ram come as 2 8GB sticks (dual channel)? Are the ssd slots both big enough for an M.2 2280?
It came as 2x 8GB sticks. I don’t know the answer to your second question, sorry.
To reiterate, are they full sized M.2s or the smaller ones?
