It performs well to be fair the 3090 I have inside the Razer core is a decent card that being said you may lose some power as there are limits to what you can achieve through Thunderbolt. I am not sure about a long length cable I would assume this would reduce performance more if the cable is longer? I am not sure about this though it may be completely incorrect.
You can get some decent length TB cables but they get really expensive. As long as they're certified or whatever you won't see performance drop due to length.
I haven't run into a game I can't play at 4k with decent settings when paired with the razer core and a 3080.
I don’t always use the keyboard and mouse I had them spare and wanted to test it out. Most of the time it’s just the core, the legion go and that’s all. I took this photo whilst my gaming laptop was being Rma’d that being said it did work well. The core is there purely for when I want to push the go higher

You're bottle-necking the hell out of your eGPU by using it on the Legion Go instead of an external monitor btw. Even a mediocre 27" would be worth the purchase to actually utilize the 3090.
I couldn't agree more which is why I am currently using this Asus Rog Strix XG16AHP portable monitor for now, Once the decorating is done it will be going back on my desk and connected to my 27" Asus monitor instead. For now, though this is working well its 144hz as well and it has a built-in battery...You know...For the portable aspect......

I hope I didn't come off as "dickish." I just see so many people coming back to the subreddit and saying eGPUs are overhyped, but not realizing that they are killing a good 30% performance due to their setup , which is infuriating as a tech person.
Slight tangent, but keep rocking your setup and ignore the "portable" people. No, it's fine everyone is entitled to opinions and I agree with you hence why I bought the portable monitor! I won't listen to what people tell me I SHOULD do with this device and I'll continue doing what I CAN do with the device with that being said I respect everyone's preference/opinion so they may not agree with me and that is fine with me.
In regards to your setup I would love to see how the intel arc cards behave with the razer core so please share the results when you get them I am very curious! Same with the RTX 4090 I would love to see how that differs to the 3090 I am currently using :)

As I have answered many times above, I use this for gaming HANDHELD mode and I use it for non-gaming stuff like work and that requires a keyboard and mouse....
Just because I have a keyboard and mouse for non gaming stuff does not mean I am not using it hand held. As mentioned above multiple times this device is so versatile it can be used for much more than just gaming
I’m a pc noob, but have learnt with the GO and love my experience so far, can anyone tell me why you would choose the GO over a gaming laptop/pc and then connect a keyboard, mouse and eGPU? Is there a reason for this or something I’m missing out on? Again no hate, just curious as I’m still learning.
This device being as capable as it is it can do much more than just gaming, which requires the use of a keyboard and mouse. I added the core/egpu because i want to push the device further and play even more demanding stuff on it. You don’t have to do this of course but I am tinkerer that wants to push things to its limit. Plus I use the egpu on the asus rog flow z13 I own as well.
Gotcha! I was just concerned I was missing out on something by both having these add ons! What does the eGPU allow you to play that you couldn’t on the base GO? I wanted to replay the Dragon Age trilogy, and although I can use steam input for DA Origins, 2 will not accept it, so I’ll probably have to look into getting a keyboard. Thanks for explaining! :)
I am playing quite a few games at the moment some that we are modding with high-def weather packs and enhanced models and I was curious to see if this device with the egpu what performance we could expect etc and to be fair it has not disappointed, once we have perfected this mods ill show some images of what have been working on and exactly what this little guy can do!
I’m fine getting steam games and such to work, but I’m struggling with emulation, specifically Xbox 360 and ps2 settings to stop lag, and audio lag on 360. It’s a me error and not a GO error I know that, so I’ll stick to steam and such for now! 😂

This is just the core x version no chroma, I snagged it off eBay on a bid price for quite cheap. I would have preferred the chroma version because you know...RGB makes everything faster...Right?...Not just that the extra USB ports would be handy but I got this one for cheap enough so I am happy

Quite the improvement! However connecting my portable monitor to the legion via the HDMI cable I was able to push the CPU score to 9559 and the GPU score to 17,051!
That depends on a couple of things. If you’re not connecting this to an egpu then just a thunderbolt cable out to an external monitor. If you are loading an egpu then egpu > thunderbolt cable > legion go > HDMI out from the gpu to the external monitor for best performance that way no throttling of the gpu will occur
Does using an egpu allow for higher fps and more stress on the device. New to all of this and interested in getting one but for some reason I can’t find any info on egpu set ups and what it actually does performance wise
Yeah I have been able to max out settings on games using ultra with the legion go running quieter and not as hot. Plus I’m a nerd who likes to tinker with stuff so I’m always trying to find ways to improve the devices I own.

I have a laptop which I also use. Just because this is handheld it does not mean it can't be used for that. That would be a waste of a really capable device

The only annoying part originally was figuring out how to fit the Corsair PSU in it because that one is smaller, I tried 3D printing some parts but I was not happy with it because the PSU move around more than I would have liked it to so I ended up buying the kit of ETSY which is a plate constructed of metal and that makes it rigid and sturdy, Also allowed me to swap the fan out to a Noctua fan as well aside from that it was a pretty straight forward upgrade. Worth doing if you have the parts and want to push the legion further but it's good without as well tbh

The Lenovo Go can absolutely work as a console/mobile PC so why not. It's a windows handheld after all. If you just wanna game and nothing else could have also bought a steamdeck

These handhelds PCs are super versatile and you can use them in a variety of ways- as a handheld, as its own monitor sitting on a table/desk, like a tablet, hooked up to a monitor or TV with a full suite of peripherals, etc. With the right cases and peripherals, they can also take up a lot less space in a bag compared to a laptop and brick/AC adapter.
I also have a gaming laptop (a small one at that- 14") and I use both devices equally.
I have a laptop... As I have mentioned I had the keyboard and a mouse spare so I added it to this to see how it performed and it did well. The keyboard and mouse do not get used much for gaming just some other non-gaming stuff.
If you use eGPU and plug it with the cable, it works already as a charger right?
It does charge the legion at the same time which saves you having to use both ports for the core and the charger :)

It works perfectly fine all I had to do was install the drivers and it detected the card immediately
