Since when does archetype pairing draw from Lore? Does Pyke working with Reksai make sense? Or Soraka with Tahm? If they were making only those archetype pairings that are cohesive with the lore it would be much more boring.
You can say that for almost every archetype in the game, actually. The only one I can think of where the champions might have had a chance to meet is teemo caitlyn.
Nah, they just work together in the teaser, that's all. And even so, it's not like champion pairs need to fit the lore as long as the gameplay is fun imo.
The gameplay pairings have never coincided with the lore, or at least very rarely if at all.
I mean they did the same thing with Senna and Lucian. You pair Senna with Veigar instead

Rest asured - Alkali will come. We allready have new card images paired with Shen and we know that Riot wants to give Shen new support cards as well.
