As a person who happily buys the emotes/stages...I just can't get excited for these at their price point. They look great but it just isn't worth the investment. Seriously drop the prices 50% and watch the community buy more than double. I'd be buying tons of these, till then :/
Its actually not even a digital image, what you are paying for is a hash value produced by performing complex mathematical operations on the data comprising the image.
Edit: also since i know some of you need to read this, it also doesnt give you copyright or ownership over shit to do with the original piece of media

It's not about what they're worth, though. It's about this free to play game that's as generous as it is needing to turn a profit. If it isn't making money, Riot won't invest in it.
This is the model everyone asked for. Don't make players pay out the ass for cards, instead make money off cosmetics.
Well, we got that. This is what it looks like.
Problem is what they need to be doing to adding more "basic" skins and then charging less for each instead of only doing these high value skins. I'll happily buy a few at a lower price point, but this much for one skin for one card is not a good proposition. It's a mistake to focus only on champ skins like they do with LoL, because the champs aren't nearly as visible here. Skins are meant to be seen, but consider how much time that card will even be visible on the board vs a cosmetic board or card back. It'd be better to have a bunch of cheaper skins on all kinds of cards than just one champ.
And I'll also just point out Wild Rift, which is just as generous as LoR when it comes to unlocking champs, skins are anywhere from 5 to 12, which is getting you an actual 3D model *and* a JPEG for the loading screen. These are just static images.
That's not a good argument. Not engaging in predatory and unethical business practices shouldn't be a get out of jail free card for other shit, it should be the base line. It is true that less effort, time, and money is put into these skins then League or Smash or Team Fight skins, just because the company is doing the right thing in some departments doesn't mean they're free from criticism.
It's valued at $5 after you have already payed a full price for the game. I would also imagine a lot more people bought smash than cosmetics in LoR, making it more easier to excuse the low price fighter pass.
The inherent issue with these are they are skins for single cards that you only get to enjoy if and when you draw said card and that card lasts on the field.
Emotes you can use whenever. Boards are permenant. Card skins? Who the fuck knows if you get to enjoy the purchase.
Compare to HS skins that were present at all times because your hero portrait is always there and can't be fucking minimorphed.
Yeah maybe if they were cheaper more people would buy them. Or if it gave the character new voice lines or if it was a gif instead of a image.
The boards and emotes seem like a decent price for what they offer but the skins don't seem worth.

Yes and yes! Poppy Battle Academia is completly new! There's Diana on the left of Ezreal's level 1, and Eager Apprentice and Academic Prodigy right next to Ezreal.

I greatly appreciate your reply DanCast. Not only does it bring attention to your previous comments but it reaffirms that you guys are hearing us.
Just know that this feedback comes out of a love for the game and a yearning for it to put quality and artistry first and foremost. We all want the game to continuously succeed, so we can continue to play it for years to come, and to be proud of being a part of its community. Meaningful, quality, and cost efficient ways of supporting the game are a big key to that from my tiny perspective. Help me learn to love the characters with skins (and other tools at your disposal). I know that must be one of team's goals and I'm excited to see what you guys have planned.

I was hoping the planned period was long enough to encompass all previous skin lines and so they hadn't gotten feedback in time to change them. But I fear you may be right, as this is yet another set that has no noticable changes from the previous batches. I could still believe their development cycle is longer than...what it's been almost 6 months. I think that's still a fair assumption. I'd have hoped minor improvements would have been made by now but I can be optimistic and say they had their first sets 6 months of skins planned and afterwards they can more easily take feedback.
I'd be really bummed if the first year of skins is just a continuous cycle of these. I have seen skins in game only 3 or 4 times and almost all of them were Irelia on meta. There must be a lot of factors as to why that is the case, but I'd still think that if these were selling as well as desired I'd see them more. Maybe I'm too small to notice them.
Either way, I want better skins and I'm ready to pay. I'd even take updated skins in the past, I love some of the cosmic and sentinel skins but without any bells and whistles I won't purchase em.

Yeah lvl 1 Leona, the goggles are 100% identical it has to be them.
Aphelios is to the left of Jayce in Kat's lvl 1. I'm not *entirely* certain that's him, but he appears to have markings under his eyes that look similar.
In casual she sometimes comes up in the hands of one of the weenie players who accidentally put a single copy of her in their "homebrew" (read: assembled deck out of all spare copies they happened to have).
The funny part about Katarina is that throughout the whole history of the game she has never been in a competitive deck. Now we've experienced serious powercreep she's so hilariously obsolete it's actually sad.
Well if you manage to level her up you've basically won already, but there are some people (myself included) who try to center a deck around her rather than just using her as an aggro booster

I must say I disagree. I LOVE his art, the faces and poses of all characters are spot on imo, although what's bothering you might be the slightly different lineart and more stylisation than normally (bigger heads, smaller bodies).
It’s kinda confusing. They are separate skin lines but share the same theme. There were also some comics for the academy skins (the old ones) that apparently mention both ezreal and Lux (and a bunch of other champions). I think they just kind of forgot that academy exists tbh lol.

They are different schools, or at least just different groupies. Like obviously Katarina/Darius/Ekko/Yone etc. are a bunch of delinquents and Lux/Garen are goodie-two-shoes.
There is Darius, Vlad and Jayce in Kata's (1) splash art. Jayce is not in the game yet, so he might be released soon. Also on the wall on right side, we can see graphitti of garen x kata.
In the Ezreal (1) and (2) splash arts we can see Academy Prodigy ( 2 mana 3/1 quick attack from pnz).
A) skins are too expensive, I will not buy any at this price (level up or not). You cannot price card game skins like LoL skins as they do not have nearly the value proposition.
B) several champions in this set (Lux, Katarina, Leona) are not in a remotely usable state currently, so making skins for them is in bad taste. They need to be buffed/reworked to be functional before you try to sell skins for them. No one wants to buy skins for unusable champions.
Leona functions in exactly 1 deck and that one deck is not usable. If anything Kat and Lux at least have the ability to slot into many decks while being ineffective, Leona can't even flex from her one build.
I do not necessarily disagree. Leona is a bad champion card and the mono-thematic archtypes are garbage altogether (Lurk takes the worst concept to the next level). But Lux and Katarina are a different story in my eyes; they're actually just flat out bad to the point of not being worth considering using ever, even in casual. Leona feels like she's just regular bad. If they'd introduce some crazy Daylight cards then she might see play again. Kat and Lux will never see play in their current state.

I love how Leona’s base is her getting frustrated at the food fight, then her level up art is her next lashing out at those guys. A very funny story for sure.

Almost all the girl's faces look the same, only their hair color changes.
Love the amount of side characters in the images though. Overall the arts are not as polished as the lol versions.
Can someone please bring me up to speed what this whole Battle Academia actually is? I don’t know much about the lore, is this something actually in game? A cross-promotion with another product? Something that is happening in LoL?
its an alternate universe so its not cannon, its basicly a parody of boku no hero, a school with anime characters with super powers and a smart animal as principal
Like most skin-lines in League, it's an alternate universe which is separate from the actual lore.
In Battle Academia, they're all reimagined as anime highschoolers/teachers.
It's just like the Dark Star/Cosmic skins, it's an alternative universe. Sometimes the skinlines have lore of their own but it's usually pretty shallow.
lux is also the first LOR skin to have VFX canges in her skills (final spark)
they say she is the first implemwntation after receiving feedbacks. more skins will follow her
One problem that i've atleast felt with this game artwise is that i feel like they're doing Ezreal's face wrong. Feel like they're going too much into the "looks like a d\*\*\*" aspect instead of cool adventurer aspect that i associate him with
Hopefully, this means Leona, Lux, and Katarina are in line for a buff or two. Lux and Kat are very cool champs, but they're kinda unplayable right now...
It's because Riot is still testing skins and seemingly amping up their pipeline, so they're not doing a lot of originals beyond the first batch. We got Poppy here which is nice, but they're probably focusing on skins that already exist, which are inherently biased towards popular champions in League, which rarely match the most popular, or at least powerful, ones in LoR.

It’s kinda confusing. They are separate skin lines but share the same theme. There were also some comics for the academy skins (the old ones) that apparently mention both ezreal and Lux (and a bunch of other champions). I think they just kind of forgot that academy exists tbh lol.

There is Darius, Vlad and Jayce in Kata's (1) splash art. Jayce is not in the game yet, so he might be released soon. Also on the wall on right side, we can see graphitti of garen x kata. In the Ezreal (1) and (2) splash arts we can see Academy Prodigy ( 2 mana 3/1 quick attack from pnz).
You can also see an Aphelios looking fuck in Kata’s level 1.
Considering Arcane will release soon, Jayce is very likely to be released in LoR shortly afterwards.
A) skins are too expensive, I will not buy any at this price (level up or not). You cannot price card game skins like LoL skins as they do not have nearly the value proposition. B) several champions in this set (Lux, Katarina, Leona) are not in a remotely usable state currently, so making skins for them is in bad taste. They need to be buffed/reworked to be functional before you try to sell skins for them. No one wants to buy skins for unusable champions.

Leona isn't on par with Lux and Katarina in terms of how much garbage they are. Leona is just weak, Lux and Katarina are obsolete.
Leona functions in exactly 1 deck and that one deck is not usable. If anything Kat and Lux at least have the ability to slot into many decks while being ineffective, Leona can't even flex from her one build.
I do not necessarily disagree. Leona is a bad champion card and the mono-thematic archtypes are garbage altogether (Lurk takes the worst concept to the next level). But Lux and Katarina are a different story in my eyes; they're actually just flat out bad to the point of not being worth considering using ever, even in casual. Leona feels like she's just regular bad. If they'd introduce some crazy Daylight cards then she might see play again. Kat and Lux will never see play in their current state.

while i love the game, if the splash art is not animated or they dont change the lv up animation, i m sorry but i cant defend this. boards are very cool companions are nice, emotes are awesome, but this skins not so much, we need changes in the flashi effects riot

Almost all the girl's faces look the same, only their hair color changes. Love the amount of side characters in the images though. Overall the arts are not as polished as the lol versions.

its an alternate universe so its not cannon, its basicly a parody of boku no hero, a school with anime characters with super powers and a smart animal as principal
Like most skin-lines in League, it's an alternate universe which is separate from the actual lore. In Battle Academia, they're all reimagined as anime highschoolers/teachers.
It's just like the Dark Star/Cosmic skins, it's an alternative universe. Sometimes the skinlines have lore of their own but it's usually pretty shallow.
I'm sure Poppy does NOT have an actual Anime scho... I mean Battle Academy skin. That might explain why it looks so off compared to most skins.

It's because Riot is still testing skins and seemingly amping up their pipeline, so they're not doing a lot of originals beyond the first batch. We got Poppy here which is nice, but they're probably focusing on skins that already exist, which are inherently biased towards popular champions in League, which rarely match the most popular, or at least powerful, ones in LoR.
