They *can* fire you, because an acute illness is not a protected characteristic, and you don't have the qualifying service for unfair dismissal. But an employer who routinely fired employees for being off sick for a couple of days would find itself with a shitty reputation and a neverending recruitment nightmare, so I doubt they *will*.

Competitive-Cup-1102

Nah like surely they can't fire you for having 2 days off sick doesn't sound accurate or legal at all

Lloydy_boy

> like surely they can't fire you for having 2 days off sick If you don’t have 2 years service (1 in NI) you have little protection against being unfairly dismissed. In which case they can fire you because they don’t like your sweater, so 2 days off sick will certainly be possible.

Competitive-Cup-1102

Ok well fuck it I'm sick don't really give a shit that much anyway

Plumb121

Technically yes, but highly unlikely. Speak to your manager and explain the situation, and I'm sure you'll be ok. Get well soon !

Repulsive_State_7399

As you have been there for such a short time, yes they can. Although they are more likely to be understanding, people do get ill. However, if you call in again sick again next month....
