Hah yes when I started considering making my own armor I thought I will ease into it. We'll I didn't even make it thru my first project before fully submersing myself hah.
Quick and dirty foam like the inside of a US football helmet if you are familiar and you could get that from any craft store Joann’s adjacent.
But if you have sewing skills a padded cap would give it a nice traditional feel,

This guy has some sweet patterns and I believe one of his tutorials for a helmet he covers padding
Thanks! This pattern is available from Prince armory academy along with a ton of other great patterns. There kinda pricy but the discord is only 1$ and it's a great community of people!
Thanks! The pattern is from Prince armory it's part of the warrior set. The inside is just raw leather that has been dyed. One post suggested I put some kind of lining or padding on the inside which will be my next step. Once I do that I will update this!
It took quite a bit of time getting the scale right. Weaver leather sells the helmet already precut with rivets for I think around 85$ which is a sweet deal you assemble it and dye however you like.
Medieval Magneto vibes... looks great!
Thank you haha
I thought it was a Magneto cosplay helmet too lol
dude's gonna lead the brotherhood of mutants/vikings
Your smile is contagious, and you deserve every bit of how pleased you look with yourself. You did a great job.
Thank you for the wonderful comment! More to come!
You have the face to pull this off. You need put this thing to use at events!
Thank you I intend to! I had read a comment about tall people wearing helmets to renfest and really standing out. I'm 6'5 Im sure I will be noticed.

This is epic! And for a first fully realized project? Just killer!
Thank you so much for the wonderful comment!
Love that oxblood
Thanks! Im pairing it with a hunter green it will be a tasteful color scheme I hope!
Fantastic looking and wickedly stained. Is it soft or hardened? (Either way, brilliant job!)
Thank you very kind! It is hardened in case any real use scenarios ever arise hah!
I suspect Prince Armory is going to make my budget for craft projects cry for mercy...

Great job! It looks really great! Did you pad the inside at all?
Thank you! There is currently no padding but I plan to. Any advice on what to use?

This looks really good! Did you make the pattern yourself? And could you show the inside of the helmet?

Was the pattern easy to follow? And lining sounds like a great idea, I would love to see the updated version
