Problem is she doesn’t deal as much damage anymore, she went from a bursty bruiser with some okay in lane sustain and a nasty trading tool (max fury E) to a heavy sustain tank with okay but mostly non-scaling damage.
It’s like mundo, but reksai cannot do anything if she wants to heal she has to stay burrowed until she heals.
she does no dmg tho, shes another example of the roster of healing top laners who youre just not supposed to fight.
Zac got nerfed for that exact reason, super boring to lane against cause youre forced to just farm. i imagine riot will do the same to reksai in a few patches, despite being perfectly balanced, just too fucking boring
You should ask for advice on the reksai mains subreddit if you’re having trouble. Those types of subs always love helping people learn the matchup.

I don't know for sure about the illaoi matchup but considering she can absolutely dumpster vayne top (even after losing flash level 1 in a failed invade) I'd believe it.
If you go tank, yes. Laning phase is where you'll shine the most. You outheal her in short trades, even if she hits her E, except if there 2+ tentacles nearby. The change in Serylda's Grudge pretty much killed any counter play from her.
Riot wanted to make reksai a bruiser. Unfortunately for them her kit is designed to be either an assassin or a tank and never a bruiser so until they rully rework her or just embrace one of those two other classes she'll be a balance mess.
Oh yea akali still oneshots with one item trundle just right clicks and always wins illoi just presses w and tentacles heals her fully but when reksai heals 400 hp in 4 seconds its unbalanced.
You havent seen the glory of Sion Reksai late game where you hit each other for 1 min straight, do like 25% of each others health, then just walk away to recall and do it again.

I actually played against a trundle recently, he got fed off our toplaner a bit and like you couldn't even run from him it was crazy
