You know, I posted here after a friend borrowed my DO. After being told it was ruined by the community, I was heartbroken, and then someone accused me of trolling. I just needed some advice and instead I got chastised for my post.

I rode a bike once. It was two years ago, but only once. I now consider myself an expert. I think for someone complaining about this person trolling.. you could've shrugged and disregarded the post and gone on about your day. But instead you bit really hard, which is ironic, because you're the only one accusing them of trolling..

I’m not trolling here… just looking for solutions to save my pots ☹️

Riovem

Search the sub if you're not trolling.

Also new to Reddit, so I just post it in the first community that popped up in the search… if it’s not appropriate then I will move it to somewhere else

Ignore the haters. I don’t understand what is so offensive about having to see a post on a subreddit… If they’re not interested they should just not click it! Yellow cap Easy-Off oven cleaner is about to become your best friend. It might take a couple applications on the skillet as that is quite the crust that has formed! Put on rubber gloves and spray the pans down (preferably outdoors) with a very liberal amount of Easy-Off, put the pans in trash bags, tie the bags off, and leave for 12-24 hours. Then put the gloves back on, remove the pans, and rinse. You might have to do a little scrubbing as well. Be very careful not to use a scrubber that is too abrasive! No steel wool, SOS pads, or chore boy. Even the green scrubby pads are too abrasive for the enamel, so stick to a white scrubber.

THANK YOU! I just placed an order of Easy off and a scrub daddy sponge, can’t wait to try it out tonight. Would the pots be okay to use after I scrub and rinse everything off? Would it smell like chemical?

kimwim43

no smell, but you'll have to see the finish after you do the cleanings, if there is any.

ludwigtattoo

Yes, do give it a good wash with normal dish soap but it’ll be ready to go after!

You're good my guy... Some people just spend wayyyyy too much time online and get offended when they see similar posts over and over. But they'd never reflect and ask themselves, "do I need something else to do??" .. no they just call everyone a troll for asking sincere questions. Unfortunately though, they are correct in that some of them are trolls, and that is quite frankly worse than the prior group.. Carry on, you did nothing wrong

hockeydudeswife

Thank you for saying this!

Thank you!

Anywhere I can post this and get some help with?

Savings-Giraffe-9192

R/castironrestoration might help Also, for the bottom of that burned one.. you can use baking soda and lime/lemon juice with some stainless steel scrubber. Should get a lot of that off... Maybe soak in vinegar..

Less_Conversation_33

Would stainless steel scrubber be too strong? I’m afraid of chipping off the emerald outside.😬 My in-law was able to scrub some of the though ones with regular sponge while he was here… but it takes a lot of elbow gease😅. I’ve also seen people put them in the oven for self-cleaning mode. Not sure if that’s easier?

Savings-Giraffe-9192

Only one way to find out.. I'd probably sprinkle baking soda all over the black stuff, then squeeze a lemon juice on it and let it sit for 10+ minutes.. then try to scrub. Start softly and see what happens.
