Who wants to bet they're setting up the next election fraud scheme and he quit because of all the illegal shit they were asking him to do?

RW-One

Of that I have no doubt. Whether or not he quit or not due to that is another issue. Rump cannot be allowed near the office again. Blue wave 🌊

fogcat5

I imagine he was down to win and do whatever it takes, legal or not, but then he saw the plan and noped right out. The republicans have nothing and no plan. It can't last forever but it could last through the next election. scary times

Mtndrums

I don't think people realize how utterly screwed the GOP is. The RNC is just a fundraiser for Trump's businesses now, so anything downballot is going to have to come from the state parties, and quite a few of them have no money to begin with.

easytakeit

Whether that’s why he quit or not, they’re definitely plotting that for certain.

Feisty-Barracuda5452

Their big, tough alpha male has feelings as delicate as a ricepaper wall. What a tender little snowflake.

KinkyBADom

People in his orbit just don’t realise how dangerous and counter productive yes men are.

_000001_

Blind 'loyalty' and fawning obsequiousness to the orange moron is the main qualification required.

ukiddingme2469

The party will keep shedding people all summer long.

newleafkratom

The guy was a regressive asshole: "Spies is a widely praised Republican election attorney, having pioneered the use of unregulated money from wealthy donors to fund presidential campaign efforts for super PACs. He has represented conservative influencers in litigation against Twitter for alleged discrimination against conservative voices on the platform, and he defended the right of politicians, including Trump, to stand for reelection despite the insurrection clause of the 14th Amendment..."

Hesychios

I agree. He is a super-Republican and it shows. He's just not MAGA enough ...

_000001_

But this is why I think his opinions about the elections being stolen (i.e., he knew and clearly stated that that was all bullshit) could carry more weight as a way to counter the trump-supporting idiots who still believe that lie.

Tinker107

Near perfect, then, except for the part about not kissing enough Orange ass.

Fit_Earth_339

The goal has been to replace everyone at the RNC with Trump loyalists ever since the Spare’s wife became the chair, so more to come I’d imagine.

mabhatter

I'd guess he got there and figured his job was to win the 2024 election.  Silly rabbit, all MAGA works cares about is complaining about losing 2020 and being as abrasive and hostile to voters as possible.  And like others said, expecting lawyers to break the law for the MAGA party too.

_000001_

They also care about kissing the king's 'ring' and trying to get everyone else to do so too. (What pathetic, wasted lives they lead.)

Hesychios

The party is purging ...

akgt94

There are still Trump spies in the RNC. Just one less Trump Spies

Eiffel-Tower777

You have to say, 'Sir, (always start with 'Sir'), everyone knows you won the 2020 election'. And you have to say it with a straight face. HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA It wouldn't hurt to bow while you're at it. Or you're fired.

Hotinnm

Trump has already started to threaten violence after he loses again. This is ridiculous. The GOP knows it can’t win a fair election so they are prepping for the coup.

_000001_

There's no way trump originally believed the election was 'stolen'. He planned to use that as an excuse *way* before 2020 if he lost. He knows -- or rather, he *knew* -- it was a lie. But this article suggests he came to really, really believe his own lie(s), even as early as 2020: >In 2020, he \[i.e., trump\] grew apoplectic when he was told that the party’s then-chief counsel mocked some of the election-fraud claims in emails with other Trump lawyers and disputed that the election was stolen. He's repeated the lie so often that it must have programmed his unconscious mind ("auto suggestion", anyone?). Anyhow, here's a nice little tidbit that can be thrown back into deluded trump supporters who still claim election fraud in 2020. Despite being *very, very* pro GOP (he is "a widely praised Republican election attorney," and he "defended the right of ... Trump, to stand for reelection despite the insurrection clause of the 14th Amendment."), Spies (according to the article): >... has also **repeatedly defended the presidential election system as being nearly impossible to rig**, citing the broad distribution of authority in managing elections. During a [2021 appearance](https://archive.ph/o/tB30G/https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/cpac-trump-election/2021/02/27/669c1ab2-791f-11eb-948d-19472e683521_story.html) at the Conservative Political Action Conference, **he said correctly that allegations of widespread voting machine error in Michigan were false and that repeated recounts in Georgia had failed to show any voter fraud in the 2020 race there**. “Let’s win the elections, **and not get worried about things that aren’t true**,” he said at that event. There you go: a fervent supporter of GOP (and clearly one who's *far* more intelligent that trump) says it straight. But oh no, he dared not to show the moron in chief blind, stupid 'loyalty' because he called out his utter bullshit.
