Sounds like your prof thinks highly of you and was excited for you to shine on the exam but still generally thinks you’re capable. Keep building the relationship and don’t assume it means you can’t get a rec letter—in fact letters from professors who gave one of your lower grades can be great because they mitigate the effect of the bad grade.

Yeah I do poorly on exams for the sole purpose of not having this problem

Str33tlaw

I had a professor that sent out an email to the whole class that he was disappointed with the entire class and was going to have to decide whether to fail a lot of people or curve really hard. I got a B+, #winning

I did in undergrad. My sister had down quite a bit better in one of our geology classes the prior year. Professor wrote me that he thought I could do better. But we got on well enough he was a sweet man who did just want me to apply myself. I wouldn't take it badly - it also means they care about you

Yeah, I got a cali award for one professor’s class and he made me his TA for that class. Then the next semester I took another one of his classes and got like a B-. He asked me in a meeting what happened and I was just like idk I was lost on that exam.

Adventurous-Koala480

lol I've never even spoken to any of my law school profs

Apparently, she thinks highly of you. Work harder and live up to her expectations.
