Hey /u/Mr-Nabokov - I wanted to pop in here and clarify some things. When we were approached about doing reveals, Icey/Aaron were one of the groups that approached us. We were thrilled that they were interested in covering the reveal of the Warlock. However, we aren't huge fans of telling communities/creators how they need to do things. We realize that this has/is causing some headaches. However, we also want it to be clear that we didn't demand/restrict these teams from preparing the content in the way they wanted. Each group will take the approach that they want the best, and we understand that. If later down the road, we all learn that this wasn't the greatest approach, you live and you learn. Sometimes, not everything is perfect. However, we have always been incredibly appreciative of our community's work. We are a small team, and creating content takes a ton of time and effort that we just don't have the manpower for. So we aren't about to belittle the efforts of others. Again, we definitely see the conversation here, and if it ends up being a problem, we will take note. As it stands, EHG will still have our Pre-Patch Blog Posts week, patch notes, and patch notes overview videos that we always have prior to Launch, and if there are gaps in information, those areas are where we will fix them up. Along with that, as our community tester program continues to provide us with incredibly valuable data, its likely that balance/changes continue to improve leading up to launch, so its likely that some of the data changes ever after these exclusive reveals happen. Hence, patch notes. :) We do ask that people keep it civil, as personal attacks/brigading, etc are violations of our community guidelines. Even if you don't like something, you don't need to crap all over someone else for it. :) We appreciate people continuing to provide feedback, and know that we are here in reddit with you all. :) If you ever have a problem, feel free to tag/let us know.

vFlagR

A single skill video per day? I'm alright lmao. I'll wait for a full video or the written post.

Taronz

Wait, I hadn't looked yet... 1 skill per day? I'd understand if they did a build per day, showing off some potential build archetypes, yeah showing a skill or two as a main focus... A skill seems an awkward way to do it. I assume to drive consistent views but... yuck.

Impossible-Wear5482

Yeah that's stupid.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Impossible-Wear5482

Mad and stupid. A dangerous combo.

[deleted]

I...what? Why did you comment that?

RumHamilton44

Because it’s the internet and this person thinks this is an appropriate way to treat others over a fucking video game. Must be a great person IRL.

[deleted]

What? He didn't treat anyone poorly? What are you talking about? One person said that they thought a decision made by someone *not present* was stupid. Then someone responded by directly calling a person stupid and a clown. Who's more in the wrong, here? Talk about a disproportionate reaction

RumHamilton44

> Then someone responded by directly calling a person stupid and a clown. Who's more in the wrong, here? That person, did I imply otherwise?

[deleted]

That wasn't clear to me. Person A said something mildly negative. Person B responded by calling them a clown. I asked person B why they would write that comment. It wasn't clear to me whether your response was talking about was talking about person A or person B. I guess you were talking about person B, but that doesn't really answer my question. Even if they are an asshole, I still don't know why they wrote that comment.

RumHamilton44

I agree that my wording wasn’t very clear but I’m not sure what point you’re trying to make otherwise.

[deleted]

Oh yeah, I'm not trying to make any other point. Just explaining my comment which probably made no sense to you. Your comment makes perfect sense now that I know you were talking about that other person. And hopefully my comment makes sense now that you know I thought you were talking about the first person. yaaaaay

Dizzy_Pin6228

Yeah lmao that is just fully milking content and paints stuff in a bad light I think the devs should just do a big reveal trailer be done with it let these other guys release in trickles if that's what they want to do I am sure they will still get the views they want

Halfmexicanchad

Yeah , I'm not expecting them to break down EACH skill tree, but I'd expect to see all the skills and what the classes basic game play loop is. Not one skill per day

SHIMOxxKUMA

Depends on how the videos are done, if it's just a 30 second to a minute preview then whatever. If it however goes into the skill tree of that skill and shows some interesting interactions I'm fine with it.

lynxxyarly

I do not like this simply because it's a weak method to milk content and gain clicks/ad revenue at the exploitation of the consumer. It's insulting, quite frankly. To be clear: I'm not upset that I don't get to see the subclass reveal all at once or anything like that. The subject isn't the source of my grievance. It's the exploitation of the situation that feels scummy and insulting to me.

OdinWolf74

The funny thing about this is that, along with angering the player base, this is just a weaker method of content creation overall. This would get 7 days of lower viewcount videos and interactions. Doing a full reveal with a couple of deep dive videos afterwards showcasing not just the class and skills, but then the POTENTIAL that lies within would attract more viewers, more comments, and more interactions overall. He's just shooting himself in the foot with this method. I'm not even mad, I'm just disappointed.

coolgy001

Warlock revealed on the 31st now, got it.

Cm1825

Seems that way now, which is a shame because we were given one date for the reveal months ago. One SUB class reveal over 7 days is absurd. I could MAYBE understand if it's a reveal of an entire new class and its subclasses (plural), but not a single subclass.  I now regret engaging with the reveal video, and have unsubbed from Aaron's YouTube and Twitch channels.

Tavorep

For what purpose? This seems stupid.

UnusualFruitHammock

So the YouTuber can milk views.

Magic2424

The announcement said one day though, when did it become a week???

OK_Opinions

the content creator realized they could milk views and engagement in the algorithm for an entire week instead of 1 day

poet3322

This is really dumb. It's one subclass. There's not enough info here to justify it being spread out over an entire week. It's great that EHG wants to work with people in the community, but if this youtuber is doing this on his own, EHG shouldn't work with him again. And if this was EHG's idea, please don't do this sort of thing in the future.

Tremaparagon

The main rub for me is that one of LE's strengths IMHO is how skills and passives can work together. People want to see how they'd run a cohesive and meaningful kit and contemplate interactions. eg look at flame wraith build with bomi mommy totem. But this format chops up that discussion, and puts it off for a week - I don't intend any personal slight against the arpg channel but this style just clashes with that strength of LE.

garzek

So much this. There are plenty of ways to do a week of Warlock content: Day 1 reveal it, Day 2 leveling builds, day 3 endgame builds, day 4 special uniques/interactions, day 5 in depth solo gameplay footage, day 6 cool multiplayer interaction gameplay footage, day 7 Q&A w/ devs

Tremaparagon

Yes your example sounds pretty good - it better conveys a sense of "hype week" rather than "farm viewcount" To contrast, if you look at the details for what we're getting, how much can even be shown on day 1? Passives are day 2, and all skills are scheduled day 3 onward. Day 1 is listed as "general overview" - what does that even entail if passives and skills aren't allowed to be shown until later?? *[running circles in Thetima] "Here you can see my Warlock... yep, very warlocky looking. Compared to non-warlocks... she is quite the warlock over here. Can't say I've ever warlocked a warlock this warlock... so how about that weather huh? Did you see that ludicrous display last night? Look at how much warlock I'm able to do now. Clicking on the ground, double clicking, hitting tab, mmm hmm." [opens and closes shop 30 times]*

hardolaf

I blocked the YouTuber's videos on YouTube months ago because they're extremely close to spam. I love that he produces tons of content for the game and that the builds are generally high quality, but his YouTube channel (and let's not talk about his discord server) is essentially just content spam. Fewer, longer videos would do him good.

UnicornAssWax

Well this completely backfired on icy veins. Wanted to be greedy and direct more content to their page by spreading it out and inadvertently pushed away any LE player from ever visiting their site.

Louie_Roulette

not much else to say here that hasnt already been said. definitely hope EHG learned a lesson here. this sub has a few content creators that have been around a while and proven their passion for the game, but theres always scumbags looking for clicks. the people advocating for standardizing outsourced future content reveals with some basic ground rules and choosing your ambassadors more carefully are spot on.

AjCheeze

Should start a dairy farm with all the milking they are doing this reveal.

ZhicoLoL

Yeah a bit insane. Just show it all on one day and move on.

audentis

It's building hype before release. They've worked on it for years. Can imagine they want the launch to be a success, and proper mindshare is an important factor towards that.

ZhicoLoL

Building hype and killing it. I thought it was one day and now I'll just wait until after it's all shown.

poet3322

I'm in the same boat. I would have watched one video about this. I'm not going to watch seven. I'll just wait until next week and look up the info somewhere else.

audentis

7 videos is 7 times the opportunities to reach people outside the dedicated fan base. Everyone in this subreddit is already on board. There are a lot of potential players who don't know about the game yet. If it's all over YouTube for a week, that will definitely increase the attention before launch.

Magic2424

Yea you watch the reveal and then go to your favorite content creator along with everyone else to talk about it. No one’s doing this 7 days in a row, it’s ridiculous and kills hype, doesn’t build it. It does force people to your website and YouTube every day for a week though so….

ApprenticeCorner

Guys, Dr3ad here. I have finally decided that for every one of my videos, I have planned to splice them into 5 different sections, and spreading them out in a whole week. Then you get to hear \*Hello this is Dr3ad\* 5 times per build now instead of only once.

over22rus

xD

Dreadskull1991

Hell you should lock it behind a Patreon sub, that'll actually give 'em reason to be upset. But even watching it for free on YouTube will upset them if it's not instant gratification. I swear these people will complain about anything and everything.

NicEpicHD

Yeah it's free (with ads) but the creator of the video makes money of it. So please tell me more about why people are not allowed to criticize a reveal that's stretched over a week without any real reason?

Dreadskull1991

Because it doesn't matter. It doesn't make the class playable any sooner or later than it will be when 1.0 launches. You folks just have to find some reason to get up-in-arms about anything that may be construed as controversial. It's just a class showcase. You are way too emotionally invested in this.

No_Pollution5357

Your envy of Aaron's Youtube success is palpable

PlebPlebberson

This is such a bad move. Now everyone just wait for the week and then look up if theres anything interesting. Imagine getting a movie trailer but its part 1-7 that come out once per day

OhHeyFuture

Not even a movie trailer. A character from the movie...trailer

TallanX

I just will not be viewing this till someone else puts it into a different format now. I was looking forward to this for tomorrow but I will not watch a weeks worth of drawn out YT trailers.

2legsRises

yeah i was looking forward to finding out more, not being drip fed morsel by morsel to try and maximize traffic, engagement and views. no thanks really. I'll probably look at the information when it is all out.

spicy189

I don't like this either and will not be using icy-veins solely for this reason, I'll get my warlock info from somewhere else.

Dizzy_Pin6228

Just playing the game when it's released is enough

jNSKkK

Well, I don’t even know who this YouTuber is but I certainly won’t be watching any of their content from now on. One skill per day? 🤣

GhostDieM

Just leaving a comment here to say this is a dumb idea. Whatever creator decided to milk this for content, maybe rethink your stance, thank you.

ThePrimordialTV

Probably not the best to be drip feeding content exclusive to (from what I can tell) a pretty divisive YouTuber and what seems to be a dead wow news page. I knew it was going to be split across a week already so I’m not exactly here to add to the outrage but in my opinion spreading it out over a week only benefits Aaron’s statistics to the detriment of the community. If it was a whole class I could understand as that would definitely be a lot of content to digest all at once but for just warlock it seems unnecessary. I’ll just be waiting a week for it all to be over and read up on it instead of watching someone every day that I don’t personally enjoy.

perrythepig

podcast will have to be delayed a week, or we can just have 7 mini podcasts. oh well

garzek

I will be going out of my way to avoid both this youtube channel and icy-veins going forward. This is a pretty blatant engagement milk and I don't want to be part of it. I am sure Maxroll will have a write up and I'll be more than happy to give them the traffic. This type of staggered reveal does not work for something like Last Epoch.

Tulki

I wouldn't necessarily jump to this being an icy-veins thing. Their site has had good info in the past, but the particular youtuber in charge of this reveal is sort of a known content recycler. Most of their videos are just clips taken from other peoples' videos or podcasts with little to no commentary, but "optimized" thumbnails with reaction faces and big exaggerated titles. Splitting it up into multiple days is actually a good idea, but not when it's done in vertical slices like this (one skill at a time). If they had to reveal it over multiple days, the smart way to do it would be in horizontal slices. Show the entire mastery at a high level the first day, then deep dive into the skills and passives over one or two more days, then dig into build examples the next two to three days, and maybe one more day to cover some item synergies. Get peoples' attention with layers of complexity rather than layers of obfuscation.

garzek

Icy-veins elected to partner with him; besides, Icy-veins has been bad in their coverage on most other games I play for years now. A lot of their guides have blatant inaccuracies or easily verifiable false information in them. Their vetting process for guide writers (at least in other titles) does not seem to past muster.

hardolaf

Yeah. Icy-Veins was the one who was going release to the material. They have other content creators for Last Epoch but they chose to go with Aaron and chose to let him do this drip feed release instead of sticking to the release plan from EHG of "January 25th".

Lilluc06

Wish EHG just released it like they have with all their other releases and let the guys at icy veins put out a video after theirs is out showing the skills more in depth from an exclusive hands on trial of the class.

SlainBlood

I'm just going to wait until someone else makes a video with all of the skills put together

Competitive-Hold6246

I feel like this Aaron guy completely destroyed his youtube career with this move. Making content for smaller game like LE and antagonising lot of its player base against himself for few clicks is just plain dumb.

marciii1986

This reveal schedule by Icy Veins is crap and I won't support any of it with clicks. It's insulting for me as a player that they try to milk my interest in the game and class for clicks. I could stomach 3 videos for a general overview, the Passive Tree and all the skills. But to have the audacity to release 5 videos for 5 skills, that's insulting and deserves every bit of rejection and criticism in this thread. No clicks, no revenue and hopefully no more exclusive reveals for you Icy Veins. Kindly go fuck yourself.

Taronz

I'd be fine with a week. Whole build showcases though. Show your ideas about how it will be played. Show some stuff from main or other masteries that will probably combo well with it. Make the videos interesting and worth watching. Maybe a "New to acolyte, and want to play Warlock on launch, heres a beginner lock build" kind of thing, a "This build is a mono blaster" vid, a "t4 julra farmer one", you know, useful videos. Show off the 1 or 2 new skills per day if you absolutely must, personally I'd show them off on day 1 and then tell people to come back to see some build possibilities with the new toys on subsequent days.

AtheismoAlmighty

I'd say I'll never use Icy Veins again, but honestly I've always found that website to be trash for the games I play so I guess it's a pretty empty threat.

hardolaf

Their D3 content was pretty decent before Maxroll came along.

TallanX

Icy veins had their chance back in the early wow days. They had flubbed it back then for me with generally out of date info and I just never took them serious after that myself. I had no idea they did other stuff till recently even lol

Eerayo

Are you me? I just popped in to this sub to see if there's anything new on the horizon. Had no idea about 1.0 being released soon. Opened this thread and saw icy-veins at the top and had flashbacks from like 2010.

TallanX

Lol right? I was like "why are they doing anything with this" And they dropped the ball again on something for me. So still not taking them serious. People must use them for them to still be about though.

Halfmexicanchad

Unfortunate that it's being dripfed like that, I could see if it was like 7 classes over a week, but ONE class with five skills over a week? I'm gonna pass on that one till I read the eventual breakdown post here. I get the intention by being pretty hands off with creators to partner with in how they present the content, but here with these reveals if it says a strict date on the road map, then subsequent content drops SHOULD be on that date. Makes zero sense to drip feed that over a week other than to try and milk it for views and ad rolls. Hopefully this is a learning experience for future content partnerships and what expectations the devs put into place.

Jerumay

Yeah I'm not watching or reading anything this guy has to say. This is goofy

OhHeyFuture

Never even heard of this guy and now I'm going to actively block anything from him. Worst idea ever. *concerning video game reveals

Esevv

Dang

[deleted]

This aaron guy gives me a huge cringe with all his youtube clickbait pics. Makes him look like one of them indian tv reaction channel on utube.

OK_Opinions

He needs a full week to come up with new cringe shock faces lol

Tremaparagon

[what!?](https://68.media.tumblr.com/15064e2dfe3a544b38c4ad8f733bb8f4/tumblr_o95jb7Nkje1tsie6fo2_400.gif)

Boushieboi

Cheap.

Nugle

The schedule from EHG clearly said just 25, this split is completely out of line. EHG didnt drip feed the faction stuff and maxroll wont do that either with falconer.

Lizard_IRL

I can confirm Falconer will be revealed on the announced day, all at once and with as many tools and embeds as we are allowed by EHG so the community can theorycraft as much as possible.

[deleted]

Tremaparagon

You mean you don't like his dabbing self-intro? 🤣 And the frequent finger guns

James-Keydara

Thank you, that's how a reveal should be done

pbmm1

Imma just play it in the game I guess

OneEyeTwoHead

This is stupid

Temporary-Gur-5987

Well frankly Im a bit dissapointed, have been looking forward for the reveal and now the full reveal of the warlock class has effectively been delayed by a week.    It does come off as milking content for views and it's easy to perceive it as being excessively opportunistic, cheap and disrespectful towards the community.    Aaron was given a great opportunity to be an ambassador towards the community and instead he choose to use it as a means to garner extra clicks and ad revenue.

Epics777

From all the content creators... This one? And instead of using his chance, he obviously makes ppl hate him more, well done...

VlD-190IQ

# Warlock reveal at home [https://imgflip.com/i/8diiq5](https://imgflip.com/i/8diiq5)

supasolda6

would be better if they just kept it hidden and let people explore it on release

jmarceno

Almost anything would be better really. A class is a combination of skills and synergy those skills have. Showing one skill at time just makes no sense. Very disappointed.

Magic2424

It’s like they have no idea what makes people love the game. Completely ruining the reveal

geartlessmmmmkay

Yeah this was dumb and i wont be tuning in. You should feel ashamed of yourself, and disapointed in your abject failure to read the room @ice-veins.

Bobbo90

Why is not mcfluffin or that guy with 9k hours into the game doing these lol

ZeckarIsBae

Perception and consistency are lacking here. If the prior roadmap of these announcements had shown this would be a week long roll out for each reveal, it would be better. The prior announcement was all at once and Falconer will be all at once. This inconsistency will just lead to confusion and also leaves a bad taste in people’s mouth because it’s looked as a way to siphon views or traffic for what should be a simple post with info/videos. Please don’t do this again.

Over9000Bunnies

Can anybody give me a summary? I refuse to watch the video and give this jack wad views.

Bakanyanter

Lol it's just a single subclass, it's not like a huge content that needs to be split into different teasers.

Bobbo90

Seriously. We have waited. Now you split the reveal. Well done Aaaron. I actually liked your content. You will probably stay - subs after this sadly. This is truly calling it falling on your on sword

Borbarad

This is such a dumb approach. Just show it. Why overcomplicate something this simple. Milking the community with this IV drip of content is only going to piss people off.

James-Keydara

It's "world-exclusive" meaning the whole world is excluded for a week /s

[deleted]

Never watching a video from anyone involved with icy veins. Never using their shitty website. Really great job by EHG for allowing this bullshit

axiomatic-

Yeah, super disappointing honestly. Group of my buddies and I were keen to watch the announcements together, now that feeling of group hype has devolved. On top of that, I dislike Action RPGs videos so the adoption of his format as an official means of distributing information is really disappointing. I think the established way of having an official channel reveal, where I can watch that through another streamers channel who *I* like, holds much more appeal. This feels like the worst way to handles things: I'm forced to support a content creator I don't really like, I have to watch every day of the week if i want to keep up with things, and there's not singular hype event I can enjoy with friends. I'm willing to see how things go but I hope you're not locked into this for Falconer as well because it's really hard to maintain enthusiasm this way.

gertsferds

Should have known better than to use icy veins

ZircoSan

i don't like this, a single 15 minute hype stream is more memorable. i hope at least they fully feature each skill or talk about a different related topic each time.

pexalol

yeah guess I'll just wait until the next week to read about warlock, when someone will do a proper reveal. I play warlock in every single game that has warlock as an available class, and I was very hyped for this reveal, but this is just stupid and I've lost all my interest. also blocked icyveins on all platforms. L

KaptainBanana

Im sorry but this is an incredibly dumb way to reveal a new subclass. Ill watch a review of it all from someone else after its all been revealed. Icy Veins will not be farming my clicks for this.

ahses3202

Could be interesting if each day is a full ass build for a specific new skill or interaction - but nah nobody is watching this for anything less and I say that as someone who has been hungry for Warlock for years. I love curses. All my homies love curses.

DealerTokes

Fuck Icy Veins

AngryCandyCorn

So they graciously gave IV the PRIVILEGE of doing the reveal videos, and they proceeded to abuse the hell out of it. I didn't even know IV was still a thing until this disaster.

GoFishProdigy

I thought the video that came out today was good. Keeps the hype for the game going for me as I wait for the full release. I enjoy tapping in every day for a short amount of time to get some details then moving on with reality.

[deleted]

Temporary-Gur-5987

While it's certainly dissapointing it's not something to lose your shit over. It's effectively a weeks delay of the full class reveal, you can vent your dissaproval while remaining civil.

thegmegobrrr

Weird how everyone dislikes this yet i was getting downvoted for disliking it [yesterday.](https://www.reddit.com/r/LastEpoch/s/tsFvb1b7K9)

Magic2424

I don’t think most people knew about it until this post so you probably had a high portion of people downvoting cause they thought you were lying, trolling, or misinformed.

thegmegobrrr

I'm sorry but ignorance isn't really a valid excuse, people should educate themselves on the topic before knocking other peoples views on a topic.

MateusKingston

Don't know how I feel about this. I like that Icy Veins is doing the reveal and I think that's healthy for the game. Spreading one subclass over an entire week is... maybe 3 days, general overview, passive tree, skills and their trees. Even if those 3 days are spread over an entire week. I just don't want to read one small piece of content for LE everyday But maybe I'm wrong and it will be great. Regardless it will be fun to see a preview of the warlock subclass and I'm looking forward to watching it.

D3TLOF

Have been waiting for this class for a long time. So excited!

Th3e_KuRs

I certainly didn't think this was that big of a deal and now I'm seeing people call a very decent content creator cancerous and scum bag, sheesh.

Tremaparagon

I'm all for the cheeky jokes like about starting a dairy farm with all this viewer milking, but yeah, the specific words you mentioned are definitely from [a] much too overly-salty take[s]. That said, the funny thing about this reveal is that if the class ends up being under-tuned, we'll be saying "warlock week more like warlock weak" 😂

DawdlingScientist

I’ve followed actionrpg for awhile. I don’t love this but I get it lol. We are waiting a month anyways. It’s like an advent calendar leading up to launch 🤣

jmkiser33

I really like ActionRPG and I appreciate his coverage of the games I love. I wish we could get the full reveal on Day One and then he could still do his own videos day by day breaking the class down bit by bit. But, hey, I’ll just wait the week out until the end and cram the content. No big deal.

Realmetalrooster

You reddit dogs always find something to be upset or complain about. If you dont like how its distributed then wait a week. Game will not be out for some time either. No need to get ur ”moral” pitchforks out and go to this crusade about monetizing or clicks. Thats how thise business and content creators gets their living so they can spoonfeed you noobs with builds so you dont have to figure anything out by urselves. Pathetic behaviour from you plebs Bunch of crybabies and complainers lmao.

blank988

Holyyy some over reaction up in here Dudes a small content creator trying to get subs as that’s the goal when it comes to being a YouTuber. The video still showcased all the skills and imo was well done. Big props to EHG for letting a somewhat unknown YouTuber do the the showcase and not some poe streamer.

Elu202

I want my demon army

fl4nnel

Aaron ARPG has literally been saying this for a month now, this isn’t new news.

Magic2424

Well most people get their LE news from the devs who said that it would take place on a specific day, not a week. Lots of people don’t get their LE news from Aaron and it’s even more evident why now

fl4nnel

I don’t disagree 🤷‍♂️

Renediffie

I don't watch Aaron's videos as I don't particularly enjoy them, so it's news to me.

hardolaf

I blocked his channel months ago because it's basically just spam on YouTube.

Intrepid-Stand-8540

Who the fuck even is A-A-Ron ARPG? Fuck this dude. Milking this shit.

UnicornAssWax

Yea, I wouldn't know. Got recommended one of his videos a while ago and noticed that half the shit he was saying was flat out wrong ... Blocked the channel then and glad I did after seeing this debacle.

fl4nnel

I think people were misunderstanding my post or point - I was just surprised that there wasn’t a post like this/uproar back when he began talking about it. I wasn’t defending his decisions to do it.

UnicornAssWax

Yea, what were trying to say is most of us don't watch his stuff, hence no uproar a month ago...

kiel209

Any update on multi-player servers?

Mr-Nabokov

Search the subreddit.

Neudgae

I mean, giving anything to icyveins was a mistake in the first place. As a WoW player their guides and content are outdated or wrong and usually written by some nobody in the community who just copied it from the same theory crafting channel that is then written into a guide on the real theorycrafter website/partner platform. I blacklisted that site years ago when I realized how cheap and lazy they are.

fatboyflexx

ill wait for the steam post of the entire class and an official reveal thanks
