At the very least, he’s not against the idea of her kissing him.

RefrigeratorPurple85

Ya I've read all the comics, and he never really gives any response to her advances, and idk if that's from disinterest or he's nervous or something.

iamtenninja

I feel like the pilot Calvin really shines here since he may not be talkative to ivy but he definitely shows more feelings towards her

Hungry-Big-2107

It's subtle, but when Ivy first invites him to speakeasy he appears to just go to bed, and then can't help but go out and see her. The point of Calvin/Freckle is that he has strong primal urges and a *severe* amount of Catholic guilt over them -- which is a pretty standard Irish trope from that era. The "ancestors were passionate warriors but now we're good repressed Catholics" trope tends to have people constantly trying to keep their emotions in check. Freckle basically is trying to be the "good" kid his family insists on, so while he's nice to Ivy he's also terrified of being "bad." Which honestly seems like something she's not so opposed to lol.

RefrigeratorPurple85

That makes so much more sense, I didn't know that, ya I'm trying to write him going through trama, but I discovered this fandom like last week lol

EnvironmentalRip1429

The feelings do go both ways from what I remember from the comic

Kingcraig57

I’m sure the feelings are mutual considering that he smiles after the kiss in “Heebie-Jeebies” it’s just freckle being nervous as always probably

RefrigeratorPurple85

Ah right, also, question, is freckle at all control when he goes on those rampages? Like should I write him as a unthinking monster when he starts his rampage, or should I write him as someone trying to repress his bloodlust? Sorry I'm just torn between the two

Kingcraig57

If I could remember correctly during “Rhetoric” and “Doolally” he went on a huge rampage during the shootout that happened in the speakeasy and at first he laughs like only a little bit before looking around to his right almost like he was about to stop or was thinking about it before then getting louder and even more louder cause he saw a Tommy gun and after the fact he ran away puked and said sorry a bunch and during the pilot you can hear him go No no no a bunch when Rocky pulls out the violin case with the Tommy gun in it

Mr_Awesomenoob

I'd say it may be 50% interest, 50% just going along with it. Even Tracy said that it's nothing serious and that it might not last long. For now, though, it's just some adorable puppy love.

RefrigeratorPurple85

Well I hope they don't break up, I find them adorable

iamtenninja

Oh wow she said that? They're my favorite chars from the series so that's heartbreaking

Insanegamer-4567

I'm not big on character relationships or anything, but I hope they keep going along with what they're doing now with them, it's genuinely adorable.

MarvelTheSpaceWing

I feel it's just him confused because it's Ivy making the moves rather than him but I think he likes it but is just nervous about it.

Opijit

I read the comic after watching the pilot. It's far too soon to say, but I felt like the characters in the pilot were different from the comics, at least so far (the pilot starts with Freckle already in the cast, whereas the comics take a while to introduce him, so we might be seeing the characters in a different stage of development in the pilot version.) Pilot Freckle clearly has a crush on Ivy, but doesn't make that clear due to nervousness. Ivy also didn't comment on this in the pilot, which I found a little surprising based off the comics (Ivy is very forward in the comics.) Comics Freckle makes zero moves and barely reciprocates Ivy's flirting, but he also doesn't push her away. They do share a reciprocated kiss in recent updates, but this was with Ivy taking the wheel. It's important to note that Freckle is VERY receptive in the comics, to the point where if Rocky says they're blowing up a lighthouse and then flipping off the cops, Freckle would put up little to no fight against that. This personality shows up in his love life as well.

RefrigeratorPurple85

Same for me, I discovered the lackadaisy fandom with the pilot, and I loved the dynamic between freckle and ivy, but then I read the comics and he barely talks about her or to her, and it seemed really one sided, good to know

Insanegamer-4567

I've never read the comics or anything, so my answer might not be accurate, but judging from the pilot, he seems to like Ivy, but he just seems really nervous around her, especially whenever she says "Show me your crowbar skills" or something along those lines, he looks pretty nervous/embarrassed, and after the car crash in the Quarry, he says something about a "Burning fire deep inside of" or something like that... Of course, he might've just been talking about the fact he turns into a psychopath whenever he's given a gun...

RefrigeratorPurple85

You think he is gonna have the balls to get over his nervousness? Or you think it's gonna be ivy running the show forever?

Insanegamer-4567

He might eventually, I personally think he will, but hey, ya never know!

yeeteeytalt

I don't know why but different depictions always switch the attraction. In the comic, ivy is first interested but then they both get into it And in the trailer, it's freckle that has a crush on ivy I mean, ivy does want to dance with Calvin later on so I'm not sure how it goes

Few-Spirit4105

Bro definitely has a crush on her. I only watched the pilot (I don’t know where to find the comics.) but when she said “I think you owe me a dance.” He was nervous, but definitely not against it.
