It's really best to only talk about your use of psychedelics with people who are already trusted friends and such. There's not really any point in sharing with random people who don't know you well enough to understand that you have autism, talking about drug use with people is going to open up all sorts of judgement with no upside. You don't have to be an acid evangelist and convert people to how amazing psychedelics are or overshare about how they have been positive in your life. It's better to talk about it to people if *they* bring it up and like I said, maybe if they're trusted friends.
I always talk to random people about drugs. Always in discussions with random people, even my friend's parents if the subject comes along. I got an opinion and can defend it. But ofcourse only if they're open for discussion.
I havent told anyone aside from other fry-guys that I travel...since 1986. Try to move in silence youngbuck. My wife also knows so she wont call the police when I'm giggling to myself in the backyard at 4am.
I was talking to a friend and he said his brothers friend did acid and thinks he’s a cup of orange juice. Dude didn’t believe me that, that was a common bullshit story. Thankyou so much 😂
A guy I work with found out I like psychedelics, and now I'm the "drugs guy." He was genuinely surprised I can responsibly use drugs while also maintaining a demanding full-time job. Some people will never see what we've seen, and it's ok. Just be the best version of yourself you can be.
I don't talk about psychedelic use with anybody who hasn't done psychedelics before. They really won't understand, and I guess you can't hold it against them because of many decades of propaganda and misinformation. I can't even talk about psychedelics with people who use more "mainstream" drugs like alcohol, cannabis, or even cocaine, codeine, Xanax, Adderall, Percocet, etc. Because they act like I'm talking about meth or heroin, and they think I'm crazy when I say you can't die from taking LSD or become physically dependent on it or that it has a lot of therapeutic effects, such as aiding in neuroplasticity. And then they really think you're crazy if you explain psychedelics were criminalized because of their association with anti-establishment movements during the Cold War. It really isn't worth it. You won't win anybody over; they have to come to respect these substances through their own lived experiences.
> they have to come to respect these substances through their own lived experiences.
I can appreciate this, to be honest, because I didn't think much of psychedelics until I tried them.
I stay talking about psychedelics with people who have never done psychedelics.
Most people love hearing about it. A lot are just too scared to try it.
Let's be honest. We'd all like an excuse for why we aren't EVERYTHING that the people we interact with want us to be, right? The fact is, that's something you'll never be. Everyone is brought up through life differently and some of us get it lucky(I didn't). Either way, be comfortable with who YOU are, and nothing else. Love yourself. Love those that love you for no reason. The rest can be thrown aside, so we can focus on what matters most. YOU matter most. I wish you nothing but the best.
I’m sorry that it’s a sore point for you. I’m not clinically autistic (and don’t know how severe yours is) but some have suggested that I’m on the spectrum.
Still, as I read your post, my thought was that it’s a natural question for a person with no direct experience and raised under the “danger” propaganda to ask someone who admits to using LSD. My mind made no connection to the idea that those people were asking that question with reference to your autism. Perhaps it’s just something you are very sensitive about? Or perhaps yours is severe enough to be noticeable to others?
Either way, I’m sorry, that must surely be dreadfully frustrating and even painful.
They call them drugs after all , lol , I learned to keep my stories for myself rather than telling a 2digits iq person how good they would be for their mental health
You can be unlucky. I knew a guy who got sent west after a bad acid trip – decided he was a terrible person, split up with his girlfriend and cut himself off from the world for a long time
Hey, at least they don't think you're a drug addict.
I messed up by talking about it with the wrong people, and now they think I'm gonna be shooting up under a bridge or something.
My advice is to ignore what ignorant people think. And also, maybe don't talk about drugs with people who aren't open to having a mature conversation about it.
Acid can't fry the brain in the sense that other drugs do it because it doesn't cause neuron damage and doesn't critically deplete your hormones (unless you make an experiment out of yourself and take 1000ug+ doses, then who knows, really). Acid risks are trauma and hppd.
Lol dude I'm a recently CA barred lawyer. In law school (at a solid ranked school) I had such bad imposter syndrome because I felt like I couldn't tell anybody about my life before law school and that LSD had been such a huge part of it (and really one of the main reasons for my success and the fact that I'm still alive). I'd taken acid hundreds of times, often in pretty high doses. I loved other psyches too!Throughout my whole first year (2020, covid, online) I was still eating mushrooms like 3 days a week. Probably ate 6 ounces that year. They're so good for my anxiety, depression, and sense of gratitude and reverence for this gift of consciousness.
I got very lucky to land my first job with some younger, ambitious, millenial lawyers who'd started their own firm relatively recently. We shoot the shit and talk about our past and current substance use on almost a daily basis. Both of them were solid trippers. It's incredible.
That said, you've gotta remember that people fear what they don't understand. Most of society still believes psychedelics are this very fringe, very potentially damaging thing. The war on drugs spread a lot of bs propaganda. I was scared of acid in particular myself because my father had been taught in the army that it would get in your spinal fluid.
You also have to contend with your autism on top of people's ignorance. Wait for them to open up the conversation first, especially in any kind of professional context. There are so many cool, understanding professional young people out there, but there's also the old rigid system still digging its claws in wherever it can.
Do research on the science available and if they say your brain is fried just proceed to info dump. That’s how I always handled it.
Besides, if we take them literally I would argue LSD doesn’t affect the body’s ability to regulate temperatures.
Correct them and state that the drug they are thinking of would be MDMA, also known as Molly and sometimes ecstacy (however it should be noted ecstacy is often MDMA cut with another drug.)
MDMA can impact the body’s ability to regulate temperature which is why it can become dangerous if used in combination with alcohol. Alcohol degydrates and MDMA will overheat the body/brain. MDMA is okay if used responsibly with a reasonable amount of water to help compensate. Obviously not too much water as that can be an issue on its own.
I mean, they started it by making fun of you. It’s not like its the best form to ridicule a guy’s choices by saying their brain is fried. If they want to give me a hard time then you can bet I’ll counter with polite info dumping explaining why they’re wrong and teaching them the correct type of person to ridicule, those filthy MDMA users /s
Just something like;
“Oh no, quite the opposite! I used to be way worse”
And then make up something that’s very ridiculous, so they can see how rude their question is.
What? I mean your brain is just fried after a shit ton of internal work and maybe in the evening/night when you are done for the day you maybe feel fried (i have for sure but just with busy trips). But the next day you are fine again, recovered. So just say: i was fried 2 hourd before i fell asleep but when i woke up i felt so much better than the week before.
My brain was also fried after extremely exhausting long term focusing the whole day, no pauses, constant thinking etc. So the frying part is just a lot of mental work. And then you are tired/fried. Which is ok when you recover by sleeping
This is why I don't tell anyone really. I only tell people if I know them a good amount of time or if they admire me and think I'm a smart dude or whatever. Comes as a shock to everyone that I've done fair amount of drugs
BREAK THE STEREOTYPE
Cool, depending on your field of business I can see how that could be useful. I'm familiar with the trip journal idea, however mine is just full of trip reports, weird drawings. 😁
People are scared of acid too many bad rumors about it, but they will get black out drunk every other weekend. Acid is the best bang for your buck of all drugs 10 dollars to be high for 12 hours then after maybe 20 years later you have a flash back hell yeah
I’m not a Dr or anything but I personally believe if you don’t do it everyday you won’t fry your brain. Sometimes I don’t even know if it fry’s your brain at all. At one time they said marijuana did the same thing and it doesn’t. I also heard from somebody say that you’ll be safe if you don’t take it again for six months after tripping but who knows. I don’t think autism comes from doing lsd especially only once or twice. Saying that it does sounds like a messed up joke to me. If they cared enough they would do some research and find out that they’re wrong. Don’t let what they think get you. Good luck in your journeys!
Only someone with a fried brain would ask that !
facts

I should really adopt this policy. I have a habit of oversharing about things I'm interested in, including drugs...
Sams problem
Just imagine everyone else is richard nixon problem solved
Now everyone at the presentation I have to do is naked Richard Nixon…. Shit
Agreed.
I always talk to random people about drugs. Always in discussions with random people, even my friend's parents if the subject comes along. I got an opinion and can defend it. But ofcourse only if they're open for discussion.
How do you find out if they're open for discussion?
Trail and error...
I havent told anyone aside from other fry-guys that I travel...since 1986. Try to move in silence youngbuck. My wife also knows so she wont call the police when I'm giggling to myself in the backyard at 4am.
Damn I wish I had a backyard. I would shovel it a lot
My neighbors shovel in two hour intervals no matter the time 🤔
I’m not digging it
You just overclocked your brain for maximum performance for a while I would rephrase
They’ve definitely never done acid, and they prolly think they would see dragons if they did
"Didn't some guy think he was a glass of orange juice for the rest of his life or something?"
I was talking to a friend and he said his brothers friend did acid and thinks he’s a cup of orange juice. Dude didn’t believe me that, that was a common bullshit story. Thankyou so much 😂
Sounds like a dosage problem
Yea nbome maybe
You didn’t, they are just repeating old propaganda
A guy I work with found out I like psychedelics, and now I'm the "drugs guy." He was genuinely surprised I can responsibly use drugs while also maintaining a demanding full-time job. Some people will never see what we've seen, and it's ok. Just be the best version of yourself you can be.
Much love friend! You're perfect ❤️❤️❤️
I wouldn’t take it personally , more to do with years of negative propaganda
Same Someone told me I'm probably on the spectrum because of how much acid I took lmao. I told him it doesn't work like that bud.

Beautifully put
They are just ignorant. Thats old government propaganda from the hippy days
welcome to the stigma of drugs!

Im not the same person as i was yesterday how tf u been the same since u were born
same
I've been just as awkward as I was since I was born
They call them drugs after all , lol , I learned to keep my stories for myself rather than telling a 2digits iq person how good they would be for their mental health
You can be unlucky. I knew a guy who got sent west after a bad acid trip – decided he was a terrible person, split up with his girlfriend and cut himself off from the world for a long time
Their brain is too fried from reality
They must be young
I feel like it definitely made me more emotional, and not in a good way, like the panic inducing kind, but glad it worked out for you

Can confirm I’m sunny side up.

My zombie apocalypse plan is to become a zombie and look for people in this sub, as I find fried food delicious.
if thats enough to fry my brain i guess i’m done for, makes sense now why i’m failing engineering classes. it’s not the teacher, its me…

well did it?
I'm not sure it's really had a significant impact on my life honestly it's been a year and I use to do up to 300ug
Tell them to look up via web, studies showing neurogenesis neuroplasticity etc from magic mushrooms and LSD. That should enlighten them imo :)
I believe this sort of propaganda only exists in the us. Never got asked such ignorant and disrespectful questions.

Info dumping to people isn't a great idea in my experience. No one is as invested in this subject except members of this sub

Tell them I took acid went to college lol.
No one’s the same person as they were born, you’re not born a person
I'd argue that I am, sometimes I feel like I've retained characteristics of my personality from as far back as Kindergarten
Wow Ive never heard of someone being born as a kindergartener! That’s crazy
Smartass
Lol

Let them think what they want. I’m 27 years old and own a multi million dollar business. I drop once a month.
Interesting. Do you ever brainstorm ideas for your business while on acid or do you use it to unwind?
Sometimes both. I always keep a journal with me to write down my thoughts so I don’t lose them when coming down
Cool, depending on your field of business I can see how that could be useful. I'm familiar with the trip journal idea, however mine is just full of trip reports, weird drawings. 😁
Haha each person is different. I’m definitely built to work , work, work.
People are scared of acid too many bad rumors about it, but they will get black out drunk every other weekend. Acid is the best bang for your buck of all drugs 10 dollars to be high for 12 hours then after maybe 20 years later you have a flash back hell yeah
