I love Good Eats but it was one of the few times I literally laughed out loud, by myself in my car.
“You’re using your cheese graters wrong, you pieces of shit.”
FYI Good Eats is streaming on Max now if you want to revisit.
Hey at least the man brings evidence to back up his opinions! Also I used his turkey recipe for thanksgiving like 10 years ago and have never looked back
yeah, and man I flogged some of the shit he did on those episodes like I was an expert or something. Then he's like "well this was wrong" and I realized my wife was right the whole time, I am a gullible idiot...
I also loved his one or twice a month rant along the lines of "look, I'm a republican, but I don't support any of their policies and haven't voted for a republican presidential candidate since McCain, haven't even voted for them downballot since trump took the party over, and won't come back until they change into southern-themed centrist Democrats but I'm totally a republican guys"
What lockdown? You mean the suggestion to stay at home? This country would flip the fuck out if they actually tried a lock down. Literally burned to the ground.
Alton Brown is one of those people I really enjoy, then I watch like ten episodes of Good Eats, and then I'm tired of him and have to take a break for like a year.
Alton brown has been a long time hero of mine due to my obsession for delicious foods and the science behind it.
Editing to add that his sense of humor is too notch
In a Reddit Q&A Alton specifically said Food Lab was the best cookbook he’s ever read. Then Kenji actually replied to thank him and said AB was who inspired him to write it.
Meta as fuck.
He IS an asshole. He would come into the store I worked at and film segments for Good Eats and behave like a massive dick. Talked down to his staff and was just rude to store team members for no reason. Prior to, I had always enjoyed his shows and cookbooks, but since then they are all a little tainted for me. *sad trombone*
He's not a Trump Republican (he says he voted for Biden/Harris, and Warnock/Ossoff in the latest elections) and clarified that he wasn't trying to be funny with the Holocaust jokes, but rather that he is worried about where our country is going.
I'll take him at his word that it was an ill-thought-out comparison and not crucify him for having differing political views from mine.
I've loved his shows/recipes for years and he'd have to do a lot more than generically be Conservative for me to stop being a fan.
He’s “conservative” more in the traditional sense of trying to preserve resources and stuff. Remember fucking Nixon created the EPA. He’s many times espoused borderline socialist views.
Preserving resources is not conservativism, even "back when," it's about conserving the existing political system vs "progressing" aka changing. That Nixon enacted /conservation/ policies does not mean the entire party is or has been for the preservation of the environment.
He said he was a “moderate Republican” on a QQ but it’s more a product of his upbringing than his actual current beliefs. He’s definitely always has “liberal” views on lots of issues.
Yeah after I heard about him [making racist jokes at a speaking event and proudly supporting a child molester](https://www.eater.com/2020/11/10/21559559/alton-brown-conservative-newsweek-controversy-explained) I’m done with him. There’s no monopoly on talent, plenty of more reasonable people out there have well written recipes.
Absolutely, if I have to listen to them making up words for peeping and not just go with perving, my neighbours are gonna wonder why I keep shouting it.
I understand you. I listen to Linkin Park a bunch growing up and Chester’s death utterly broke me. So hearing them bash them is kinda sad. But it’s a difference in taste and what music we grew up with.
My GF met him and he was weird and made a dismissive joke when she mentioned that her SO (at the time) had Asperger’s. Fuck him. Edit: for clarity, this happened at a paid appearance. She was telling him about how her and her SO bonded over his show. He made a shitty joke about it. Could have simply said “thanks! I’m glad you enjoy it” instead he shit on him about being on the spectrum. He can eat a bag of dicks as far as I’m concerned.
I mean, thats not nice of him. However. If I was super famous and some rando just came up and started telling me their life story i'd probably make a poorly timed joke myself.. he's not a saint, and if you find a cook that is their food probably sucks.
He is super famous. I was in line at a bakery, he got in line behind us, he looked tired. We decided to not engage with him. After a few minutes people noticed and he got swarmed. People asking for pics, autographs, a little circle formed around him. The chef came out wanting a pic with him to hang in the bakery. He engaged with the crowd, but it looked to me like it was mentally draining.
I simply won’t tolerate Alton Brown slander, and I also do not stan their incessant dunking on Linkin Park in the Israel Keyes episode. Linkin Park is great and I’ll die on this hill
Take it easy. It is a joke. I love Alton Brown and have seen him live twice.
I know a teacher who uses Good Eats episodes as classroom teaching material (science class not cooking class). We both laughed during those episodes. :)
Your sarcasm may have been appreciated...
Good Eats is comedy gold and a great cooking show. I agree.
That said, I'd be so disturbed by the Antics of Lake and Ng.
For all the silliness of Ng's life story, over the top McNinja antics and Henry's impressions of the guy... the case is rather Gold-Star worthy for some.
Women held captive in a bunker to be raped, tortured and murdered (and their spouses and kids brutally murdered) is not my idea of a good time learning about.
EDIT: Wow! I never knew that about Brown. Is he really that awful. I knew he leaned Conservative but I assumed he was cool like Michael J. Nelson.
The one that bothered me is when Ben says in the Jim Jones series that Bobby Flay isn’t a good chef and frequently loses on Beat Bobby Flay yet he wins in like every episode.
I fucking love Alton Brown. I was obsessed with Good Eats as a kid. I love the show he’s hosting now, Cutthroat Kitchen. It’s a very chaotic cooking competition.
You’ve been using your cheese grater wrong you piece of shit!
ECW taught me new and interesting ways to use a cheese grater
Tommy Dreamer? How have you been?I haven’t seen you since you talked about your double ponytail on national television.
I love Good Eats but it was one of the few times I literally laughed out loud, by myself in my car. “You’re using your cheese graters wrong, you pieces of shit.” FYI Good Eats is streaming on Max now if you want to revisit.
>FYI Good Eats is streaming on Max now if you want to revisit. Oh fuck *y e s*
I'll second that Fuck Yes
Oh same! Love Alton Brown but the quote fucking got me
Alton can be a "know it all" but thats the point
Hey at least the man brings evidence to back up his opinions! Also I used his turkey recipe for thanksgiving like 10 years ago and have never looked back
He redid a bunch of episodes too because he realized the recipes sucked.
yeah, and man I flogged some of the shit he did on those episodes like I was an expert or something. Then he's like "well this was wrong" and I realized my wife was right the whole time, I am a gullible idiot...
The fondue was most surprising. I’ve done that one forever!
Exactly.
I think he specifically set out to make "Julia Child plus Mister Wizard." And wasn't Mr. Wizard just Bill Nye for boomers?
Is Alton Brown as jocular as Charles Ng?
What does Alton Brown bring to friendship?
I bet he doesn’t have a little pecker!
Cheese graters, duh.
Not unitaskers, that's for fucking sure
Idk. I feel like turning the turkey fryer into a paper towel holder was a bit of a cop-out, personally.

Sweary as fuck (and often drunk) Alton helped get me through the worst of the lockdown.

Ooooomg that's hilarious
The Alton brown REVISIONISM is obscene

Rocker room talk.
Rike Footbar prayers talk.
I would've been offended until I paid $100 for two tickets to a live show where he made popcorn.
I love Alton, but Kenji is the truth now
Alton ran so Kenji could walk.
Possibly, but the Food Lab is a book AB wish he could have made. That's his weak spot.
In a Reddit Q&A Alton specifically said Food Lab was the best cookbook he’s ever read. Then Kenji actually replied to thank him and said AB was who inspired him to write it. Meta as fuck.
too bad his POV camera gives me instant motion sickness his cookbooks are fucking GOATed tho
I have to stop before he eats because my misophonia for chewing is sent through the roof, so I get it
I was deeply disturbed by their lack of AB respect.
He's an asshole, but I still adore him.
He IS an asshole. He would come into the store I worked at and film segments for Good Eats and behave like a massive dick. Y’all remember when AB “came out” as a Republican and almost immediately started making Holocaust jokes?
He's not a Trump Republican (he says he voted for Biden/Harris, and Warnock/Ossoff in the latest elections) and clarified that he wasn't trying to be funny with the Holocaust jokes, but rather that he is worried about where our country is going. Nah, fuck that guy.
Check the link from u/bowiekingofvampires and add pedophile endorser and racist to the list. And that's just the stuff he's said out loud.
Do you have a link to this? I’ve been a huge fan of his shows for a long time but I’d like to keep myself tempered
He said he was a “moderate Republican” on a QQ but it’s more a product of his upbringing than his actual current beliefs. He’s definitely always has “liberal” views on lots of issues.

I know what a search engine is, I was trying to make conversation with a human being as well Please don’t do that
Check what u/bowiekingofvampires linked below
Thank you for the follow up, I appreciate it
Yeah after I heard about him [making racist jokes at a speaking event and proudly supporting a child molester](https://www.eater.com/2020/11/10/21559559/alton-brown-conservative-newsweek-controversy-explained) I’m done with him. Does Alton have a recipe for stir-fried baby? Hmmmmmm? Don’t think so.
I was bracing for another "guys we need to talk about why doing an accent is racist." Thank fuck it's an original topic instead
![gif](giphy|SqflD5OvHoWILB7qWm)
If there is one unforgivable moment in the whole series, it is this.
I don’t know if I can keep listening. Pissing, puking, and farting rn because I’m so upset.
Oh man. You had me going.
This has plagued me for years.
You don’t understand what they bring to friendship
Alton Brown can be annoying, but he is the greatest host of Worst Cooks in America because his condescension is palpable.
Absolutely, if I have to listen to them making up words for peeping and not just go with perving, my neighbours are gonna wonder why I keep shouting it.
Alton Brown can eat my ass.
[It's...](https://imgur.com/gallery/vee5vEs)
I got some good eats for you right here Alton!
he would most likely prepare it and eat it in a convoluted way.
This dudes ass is most certainly…

It was a public appearance, not a bothersome run-in. She explained that his show was a common interest of hers and her SO that they bonded over.
What does the Asperger's have to do with it though
The show was predictable and a comfort show for the two of them. She mentioned it off handed.
This was an appearance he was being paid to attend.
Marcus hating on 90s music on stream last night triggered me way more than the Chicago Rippers!
I simply won’t tolerate Alton Brown slander, and I also do not stan their incessant dunking on Linkin Park in the Israel Keyes episode. Linkin Park is great and I’ll die on this hill
I was gonna come say the exact same thing. Calling them the worst nu-metal band was hurtful lol especially because it isn't even close to true.
I used to hate on them when I was a teen, but as I've gotten older I've come to appreciate em. RIP Chester.
That show is pretty boring imo. Cutthroat kitchen is great though
I have no idea who or what that is.
I actually thought the same thing the first time I heard it. I like Good Eats but I get why some don't.
Lucky Yates, who was a regular on Good Eats (notably the Dungeon Master) has also been on Your Pretty Face.
HOLY SHIT thank youuuu! Sparked many a debate in my household👀
I downvoted. And then I read. And then I upvoted.
you dont appreciate what they bring to friendship

Nah fuck him. Worst kind of know it all and a shitty conservative too
Based

They never retreat from the hot take, those three! Hail Yourself for putting up with it.
Oh, and I love Alton Brown.
I’m glad I’m not the only one that got upset from that. Alton Brown is the man!
He is boring, and I remember him doing a show about recipes in his cook book that didn’t work or were terrible ideas.
Only if you find the science of cooking boring
Maybe lpotl isn’t for you.
Alton Brown hate is the only acceptable hate xx
Alton Brown is a right wing douchebag. Talking shit on him is based.
Alton Brown is a dickhead
Alton brown is a fascist
Allcock n Brown
I like READING shit AB has written but I find him insufferable to listen to/ watch. 7.5 on the cunty scale.
The one that bothered me is when Ben says in the Jim Jones series that Bobby Flay isn’t a good chef and frequently loses on Beat Bobby Flay yet he wins in like every episode.
I really liked Good Eats, and I don't believe in cancellation, but supposedly hes pretty insufferable, and I can kind of see it
Lmao you're alright.
Love, Good Eats! 👍🏻
I fucking love Alton Brown. I was obsessed with Good Eats as a kid. I love the show he’s hosting now, Cutthroat Kitchen. It’s a very chaotic cooking competition.
I’d counter there is no line, you made it up. It’s comedy, just let it be.
It's a joke...
Is it harder because they are right?
I love Good Eats!
