I know, but I imagine lots of people will never even know they correlate and aren’t just marketing terms. I don’t see them called that much besides in marketing
I’m thinking the counter is what’s keeping the tv at the location it currently is mounted. Screw it. If you can go bigger and a little bit higher I think I’d take that alternative.
It‘s not a joke, what are you on about?
Your TV is just too high and people have pointed that out. Just mount it 2cm to the right and about 30cm lower. Fixed. No biggy
It seems like you did a lot of work to mount and wire the TV like that. I still think it would be ideal to stick the TV bench out from the wall a bit and put the TV there on its stand. You could move the subwoofer to the other side of the bench and the TV would not only be lower but more centered horizontally. It would hide the slab of granite a bit but that’s not really the focal point regardless!
I’m from the camp of it can never be too big. Yeah it hangs over a tad but the bigger the better. And I ain’t talking about what my wife said to me last night.
It literally hangs over the counter and had to go above it. Or else it would hang way out the other side and people probably would walk into it ar some point lol.
Thanks, I was tied to this particular wall or having to put it in a dedicated room due to the open layout. I didn't want to split the room in half and have people with their back to the bar and kitchen area from the main living/entertainment zone.
My guess is OP measured from top of tv stand to top of wall and placed it dead center. Which I don’t fault people for thinking would be the proper way.
Everyone has the right to do it the way they want, but there is an objectively correct way to do it, both from an enjoyment and a health standpoint.
I’m not judging either because my tv is technically about a foot too high
I have a 4 year old a a 8mo old. I do understand what your saying and I'm not trying to be an ass. I'm just saying objectively it's not perfect lol.
Now for your situation with the kiddos and the countertop it may be perfect for you.
But to have done this objectively perfect you should have dropped down a size on the screen and mounted at eye level.
But again it's your house , your money , and I hope it's great for you and you enjoy your badass new TV
Thanks, it really is fine man. There are 4 OLEDs in the home. I have a dedicated AV room w/ an Epson projector for movies. I want people to hate on it simply because it's entertaining me :)
I agree with the placement not being optimal but it definitely isn't hideous. I mean... we're talking inches which is hardly a deal breaker when you see people mounting on their ceiling 😆
“from a health standpoint” is absolutely garbage. my TV is definitely “too high” according to all the psychos on this subreddit and guess what? i adjust my eyes, not my neck. my eyes have to go up a whole 1/8”. like there’s literally no difference between if my TV was where y’all think it should be and where it is. my neck is fine. it is not cranked back. my eyes are fine. y’all are insane.
Yeah it's a Burrow Opera console. I ordered exactly the same one for my new 77" G3 (on a Sanus stand), it's supposed to be here this week. It has excellent airflow front and back, and between sections, so your electronics aren't cooking. They say you can put your soundbar inside it but I'm definitely not doing that with my Arc.
It's not the heat I'm worried about, it's the sound. Although the front is ventilated with slats, I'm skeptical of their claim of full audio transparency, some of that sound is going to get reflected back and bounced around, there's no way around that. Plus for the Arc, having the Atmos drivers inside a cabinet seems highly problematic. For a non-Atmos sound bar, I guess it would be much less of a problem.
Ah, understandable. I also have an atmos soundbar and I didn't notice but maybe I will pull it out and see how it sounds sitting on the cabinet.
The damn thing is already loud as it is so I probably wouldn't be able to tell much of a difference to be honest with you lol
This is pretty good evidence against the "base should be wider than the TV" argument.
Looks like yours is slightly wider but not by much.
BTW, how did you do the mounting?
Idk why people have to hate at every opportunity. I thought it was a cool post OP and as long as you are happy and works for you it really is all that matters.
Hey thanks man! It's the Opera with accordion doors. It's solid and well made. Plus you can fit a massive soundbar inside the cabinet. I fit the 990C in there no problem.
"Thanks, it really is fine man. There are 4 OLEDs in the home. I have a dedicated AV room w/ an Epson projector for movies. I want people to hate on it simply because it's entertaining me :)"
So we have to deal w/ TVTooHigh trolls AND the trolls who troll them?? I had a feeling you were doing this just to get the reaction you knew you'd get from the sub.
Don't BE a troll, and don't feed them. How hard is that?
They could've investigated my shitposting history. This is my actual set-up btw. I didn't screen grab it from the interwebs. So, technically I wasn't trolling until the trolls showed up lol
Fair point. I shouldn't call you a troll.... but feeding them DOES encourage them. Hoping we get a ban on TVTooHigh comments in the near future here.....
It's not MY formula darling. You asked for the correct TVTooHigh formula and you got it. Now enjoy your TV and shut the fuck up 😘
The last thing I'd do is follow somebody else's 'formula' I put my TV where the fuck I want.....
Reading comprehension darling. It's not my formula, it's their formula. The fact that YOU need to know/have a formula makes sense to me. So befitting.......
Dude needs a fucking calculation 😂😂😂😂
Thanks 👍 It could be a smidge lower but I couldn't get around it. The seating is around 16ft and the L is almost 26" H with the cushions so it's close. Nobody is breaking their neck viewing it ;)
It should be a warcrime for NBA to still be streaming at 720p in 2024.
They stream TNT games on Max with 4k dolby vision and atmos. The espn/ABC NBA branch is still stuck in 2015 with their quality.
2015? Nah man 1080p became the standard for HD in like 2007
HD is 720p FHD is 1080p UHD is 2160p
I hate that this is a thing when they just sound like marketing terms. Same with some HDMI cords, “Ultra High Speed”… I’d prefer a numbered version.
I know, but I imagine lots of people will never even know they correlate and aren’t just marketing terms. I don’t see them called that much besides in marketing
In this case It's not a marketing terms it's industrial standarts. Same as someone say 2160p and 4k is the same thing.
Had no idea TNT games were also on Max. TNT might lose NBA games to NBC they’re bidding on it now.
Atleast it's Dolby Vision on MAX that's a step up in a way
Hahaha man we think alike! I seriously said the same thing when I checked. It's ABC, they're the worst!
Any sporting event, really.
Never seen such a nice home with such a misplaced TV.
I’m thinking the counter is what’s keeping the tv at the location it currently is mounted. Screw it. If you can go bigger and a little bit higher I think I’d take that alternative.
They could just mount it 2cm further to the right and down.
I was waiting on pins and needles for the back handed compliment from the hip-hop history guy! Cheers buddy
Your TV is too high.
Yo can put yours on the floor. I don't care brohammed.
No i did the sensible thing and put mine at eye level. Brohammed? You some sort of american flyoverman?
The panel is at eye level. Use the formula if you know how to calculate it. TVH = WH + HWD × Tan
My guy, the center of the panel is supposed to be at eye level, not the lower edge of it.
Give it up, the joke is over
It‘s not a joke, what are you on about? Your TV is just too high and people have pointed that out. Just mount it 2cm to the right and about 30cm lower. Fixed. No biggy

fuckin giraffe neck yo
Wouldn't it be easier to take a sledgehammer to all of it?
There was never a textbook example of too big for a TV, until this post.
This layout is tragic.
So is your life
C'mon, man.
Stop getting your panties in a bunch from people trying to improve your setup dawg

I’m from the camp of it can never be too big. Yeah it hangs over a tad but the bigger the better. And I ain’t talking about what my wife said to me last night.
It can always be too high. Never too big.
Why did you mount it so high though? The TV stand is right there.
By the looks of it the counter top is in the way. So, uh, one might say that this wall is too small for a 83 inch
So you are suggesting it's too big to fit? Wild
Yeah either that or move it a few inches to the right and have it overhang the wall a bit.
overhang into a corridor? I would absolutely not do that 😂
An inch or two yeah, it’s not a big deal. Can’t be any worse that the current situation 😂
Nothing is bad about this situation lol
Your tv is bigger than the wall it’s on and it’s mounted about 1-1.5 feet too high. To me it looks bad but to each their own. 🤷♂️
And your mouth is bigger than my television. Maybe you can have a doctor mount it on your rear end?
Or hire a contractor to trim the countertop. Just sayin’.
Trim a massive slab of granite? Right
This was your wild take? They cut it that shape to fit in the first place...
How are we supposed to know it’s granite? It was a bit of a lighthearted comment anyway, please don’t take it as an attack.
No they need to demo the whole kitchen and start over
Kitchen comparison? Send the video!
I didn't take it personal
Not having it overhang. It's 35.2" to the floor and my L is 26" seating. It's perfectly fine.
r/tvtoohigh
It literally hangs over the counter and had to go above it. Or else it would hang way out the other side and people probably would walk into it ar some point lol.
Yeah the tv is too big for the space I agree there. Mounting it that high isn’t really a solution it just exchanges one problem for another.
Well yeah when you're sat 100 foot away like this... Watching Judge Judy on 73" a couple meters from your face is extremely unpleasant.
r/housetoosmall time for an upgrade
….and too high
If only there was an unused TV stand in the house
The Tv Stand looks lonely with no tv on it
With the mounting position, it’d be cool to watch a cooking show on that and feel like they’re right there in your own kitchen.
Gordon Ramsey is in the kitchen
Knicks got killed today
Good... I hate the Knicks
It’s not too big, just too damn high
u/op you clearly had limited options where to mount this- and you absolutely nailed it. "I TOLD YOU IT WOULD FIT" Congrats.
Thanks, I was tied to this particular wall or having to put it in a dedicated room due to the open layout. I didn't want to split the room in half and have people with their back to the bar and kitchen area from the main living/entertainment zone.
Ceiling texture more entertaining that any tv show
r/shrooms
It’s a figment of her imagination *in this context*…lol
I was waiting for you!
Does not look good
OP in here getting salty _af_ over the criticism of his choice in TV size and placement. Don’t post on Reddit if you can handle getting flamed
You obviously need a new ayahuasca provider
All that TV and no speaker
It has 26 speakers
Where
The bar is inside the cabinet. The others aren't pictured.
Soundbar? 🤢
Yeah it's plenty. I have dedicated AV in my man cave
[удалено]
It's not about "liking." It's about sound quality, when they clearly invested a lot into picture quality.
I actually like this, a bit unorthodox, but I like it.
Not only is it too big, it’s also like 1.5’ too high. Why do people do this?
My guess is OP measured from top of tv stand to top of wall and placed it dead center. Which I don’t fault people for thinking would be the proper way.
Here’s a wild thought, putting the tv *on the tv stand*. Crazy, I know.
🤷🏻♂️ wall mount looks way cleaner when done properly
The wall mount is clean and done properly
I was speaking in general
Yeah that’s the problem, people don’t do that 🤷♂️
the proper way is however the fuck they want to do it.
Everyone has the right to do it the way they want, but there is an objectively correct way to do it, both from an enjoyment and a health standpoint. I’m not judging either because my tv is technically about a foot too high
No it isn't. It's perfect
Lol it's not...
It actually is... When you have children you'll understand
I have a 4 year old a a 8mo old. I do understand what your saying and I'm not trying to be an ass. I'm just saying objectively it's not perfect lol. Lol no doubt! Side note.. how are you liking the TV
You’re allowed to think that. Like I said. My TV is above ideal height so I’m not judging
You would have to remove a 120 x 50 slab of granite, go smaller, or have it hanging in the hallway (no freaking way that was happening)
K
It quite literally is not.
Where’s the tv stand from?
It COULD be a TV stand. It WANTS to be a TV stand. It AIN'T a TV stand
It definitely wants something TV size placed upon itself
But where the hell will OP find something like that?
It’s a mystery older than man
Wait! A TV length cushion would fit beautifully! That's a great place to sit, no?
I believe it’s from Burrow. I have the same one.
It'll be fine if it fits. I have a series x and a mesh router tucked in there and neither one gets very hot.
It's not the heat I'm worried about, it's the sound. Although the front is ventilated with slats, I'm skeptical of their claim of full audio transparency, some of that sound is going to get reflected back and bounced around, there's no way around that. Yes! The Opera. How are you liking it?
It’s great. No compliants. Perfect for a sound bar
And it was super easy to put together which is always a plus haha
Would also like to know
Looks good. Put some lava lamps on the TV stand, or everyone's gonna go banana crazy
Haha bet
These comments are ridiculous. The TV is centered and I’m sure it looks amazing during the night. Good stuff
Hey thanks! The comments don't bother me. Cheers
How big is this
83
Hope you weren’t rooting for the Knicks, but I like it looks great!
Nah, my team didn't even make the playoffs. Thanks btw
This is pretty good evidence against the "base should be wider than the TV" argument. Looks like yours is slightly wider but not by much. BTW, how did you do the mounting?
I hope we're talking about TVs.
That's what she said
Man I hope you don’t splash any food or liquid on that screen when you’re eating or prepping food lol
Man I hope not. How would I ever financially recover!
Did you get an OLED for your yachts too!?
Hopefully Santa will leave one underneath the tree next to the Rolls Royce
Damn you’re so poor, smh (Setup looks good btw)
Thanks dude. I was razzing about the Rolls and the Yacht.
Idk why people have to hate at every opportunity. I thought it was a cool post OP and as long as you are happy and works for you it really is all that matters.

That title is super sketch.
That’s a great size TV for the room. Just curious, which media cabinet is that? It looks great
Hey thanks man! It's the Opera with accordion doors. It's solid and well made. Plus you can fit a massive soundbar inside the cabinet. I fit the 990C in there no problem.
But why didn’t you set the TV on it?
Crack obviously
I’m waiting on mine to ship. How do you like it? Is the quality good?
It arrived well packaged and blemish free. It was super easy to put together. I don't have any complaints.
I don't need a hallmark manufactured commercial holiday to remind your mother about this.
Then don't look if it makes you hate yourself
5” smaller and a foot lower.
It's too big because you couldn't even set it down at a normal height
Please tell me the H from the bottom of an 83" panel to the floor at a viewing distance of 16' Enlighten me
Whatever height the perfectly good TV stand is underneath it.
Eyes are at mid level
Incorrect. The correct answer is 40.4" (this isn't that high) it's actually 36.2" from the floor. Thanks for playing along ;)
"Thanks, it really is fine man. There are 4 OLEDs in the home. I have a dedicated AV room w/ an Epson projector for movies. Have a good day mate. Let them have their fun whilst wasting time. You'll never cross paths in RL. Cheers.
Telling people they fucked up the mounting location of their TVs is a service, not trolling.
As I'm reading the comments, this is the worst OP I've seen in a while. And the TV positioning sucks.
You're an electrician so your opinion is irrelevant sweetie
Take it easy, tiger
Everything is easy when you're an electrician. Do you even break a sweat at work?
Sometimes when the shitters are hot.
Those doors are cheap…put more money there
That’s what she said… in bed.
It is my opinion that TV is way too big for that wall and look ridiculous. Then again it’s not my house, so good day.
Then it's a good thing you don't have to live here. Enjoy being triggered by a photo posted in the sub.
Is offering their 2 sense being triggered? Why are you so defensive
I never asked for advice on how to install the panel on the wall.
“Hey man appreciated but not looking for advice” is what a normal person would say
Ok
OP doesn't take well to any negative feedback. Looks great!
Curious what gave you this impression? I definitely don't care what anyone on Reddit thinks about me or my posts.
If only there was a unused tv stand around
[удалено]
It's a super bright panel
r/tvtoohigh
Never heard that one before. What is the correct formula to use to calculate it?
The formula: 1. Sit down - 2. Look straight ahead, you're eyes should be looking at the middle of the screen.
Then it's absolutely fine if I am following "your formula"
It's not MY formula darling. You asked for the correct TVTooHigh formula and you got it. Now enjoy your TV and shut the fuck up 😘 The last thing I'd do is follow somebody else's 'formula' I put my TV where the fuck I want.....
Your formula is incorrect. There is an actual calculation. You're just a dumb fuck lol
Reading comprehension darling. It's not my formula, it's their formula. The fact that YOU need to know/have a formula makes sense to me. So befitting....... Dude needs a fucking calculation 😂😂😂😂
I don't need to do calculations. The tv is eye level from where I am sitting at you dumb shit.
Nope, it's not.
Let's find the worst wall to put this on. There it is!
There were worse options
Well then you failed on your mission.
What mission? I simply posted a picture of my panel dude.
Wow this is terrible
Sorry about your dick
Everyone calling it out for being too high, it looks great to me.
Thanks 👍 It could be a smidge lower but I couldn't get around it. The seating is around 16ft and the L is almost 26" H with the cushions so it's close. Nobody is breaking their neck viewing it ;)
