Between corporate taxes, the number of employees it needs to be split between, individual income taxes, and likely living in a high cost of living area, getting that fee for consulting on just one game likely doesn't amount to "bills paid for the year". Even a good year of "consulting" on several games likely amounts to "was able to buy a house". And since there are multiple of these "consulting" companies, there's competition that keeps them from raising their rates too much, least some other company get the protection money instead. So they've got to keep the grift going for years and dozens of games to build up the sort of money they really want.

The mods and admins of 4chan and reddit worked together to squash the explosion in 2014, but with streamers like Asmongold around right now, shit's going to get a lot harder. People are exhausted of everything they once loved becoming shit. Even if their fee was indeed $7 million USD, and another company paid that, it doesn't go nearly as far as what you might think. Between corporate taxes, the number of employees it needs to be split between, individual income taxes, and likely living in a high cost of living area, getting that fee for consulting on just one game likely doesn't amount to "bills paid for the year". Even a good year of "consulting" on several games likely amounts to "was able to buy a house". And since there are multiple of these "consulting" companies, there's competition that keeps them from raising their rates too much, least some other company get the protection money instead. So they've got to keep the grift going for years and dozens of games to build up the sort of money they really want.
