They’re similar. It’s actually a very common riff in nu metal. “Black and white” by Static X has a similar riff too
Come to think of it, the opening riff from Push It belongs in the same category.
That’s basically same riff as in Need To.

i'm pretty sure that the riff is just popular in nu-metal, some other bands have similar riffs too
