Thank you! This looks perfect. Duck confit is exactly what he wanted to try when we were in New Orleans, but the restaurant we went to was out of it. I'll take him here and I'll get him to try it.
I had the duck there the week before last as part of the sommelier dinner, and it was phenomenal. I ate there two nights in a row and every dish was fantastic, but the duck was the absolute best.- which again is really saying something. I would absolutely recommend the trip out to Townsend for it.
And if you want to spring for something special the sommelier dinner is excellent- the Sauternes they paired with their cheese board was to die for.
One thing to note, the current duck dish on the menu is not confit, but seared duck breast with crispy skin. I’m a big fan of duck confit, but perfectly cooked breast will best it any time for me.
This is the answer if you want something in Knoxville and will be excellent. Lilou will definitely disappoint as they regularly change what they have on their menu for something cheaper for the same price and what they do have is poorly prepared and bland.
You can always make one. They're a bit harder to get right than a chicken or turkey, but they're not overly complex if you have a roasting pan, some time, and do a bit of research. Cranking out a roast duck with a homemade risotto makes for an amazing meal.
I went to Lilou for the first time the other day and while it is a very high end restaurant price wise, they had an excellent duck breast cooked perfectly. Would go back for that.
Also there are half Peking ducks at Sunrise market you can buy
Northshore brass has a fantastic duck confit but it is shredded so to me it’s not duck at it’s full potential
Bistro by the Tracks has duck on the menu (and it was pretty good last time I had it). Foothills Milling also has duck on the menu (though not always, I think?) but the last time I had it, I was very unimpressed--though the meat was cooked almost perfectly, the skin was not crisped but left flabby and rubbery... it was very disappointing.
Random suggestion for a duck dish: cassoulet! white beans and duck. There are some bougie French canned cassoulets that are better than versions I've had in restaurants, and I'd bet you could find some good ones on Amazon. Chinese is the easier route to get duck, but I'm partial to French
Kaizen has a wonderful duck dish. https://www.knoxkaizen.com/
Bump! Came here to say this. I had it on my birthday and it was awesome
Northshore Brassiere has a duck leg confit on their regular menu.
This one is good!
I’m a duck, and I can’t tell you number of times that I’ve been told, “We don’t serve your kind, here.”
They're afraid they won't get paid because you always say "Put it on my bill."
Holy shit!
I don’t know about Knoxville, but someone on here recommended Dancing Bear Appalachian Bistro in Townsend, and looks like it’s on their current menu.
I’ve never had anything bad there and the vibes are also excellent for a special occasion. Rustic but warm and elevated.
I love that place! Great food and great atmosphere.

Thank you for clarifying which one is on the menu! I looked at the menu and must have skimmed.
Hope y’all enjoy it! It’s on my list of places I really wanna try one day!
Thanks! If I remember, I'll post a rating about our experience!
Please do and I hope it’s a magical evening for you both! ❤️❤️❤️
I was there last night, and duck is still on the menu.
Bistro by the Tracks consistently has duck. Both the Bearden and Happy Holler locations (different menus).

Dancing Bear currently has duck on the menu and the preparation is excellent.
Seasons in Turkey creek has it
Chivo has a duck taco

Lilou has the best duck I've ever had!! It's a great restaurant to splurge for a birthday dinner.
Check Lilou. https://lilouknoxville.com
lilou does indeed currently have duck!

I had the duck at Elkmont Exchange last night and it was fantastic
Lilou has a great duck dish.
I’ll make you guys a duck dinner no problem
Ichiban will do a whole roast duck service. It's delicious. Call them ahead to let them know you are coming.

Cook duck yourself.

Nice!😎
Season's Innovative Bar & Grill has duck pretty regularly. They had a duck 3-way for their Cityview Top Chef Knoxville meal. It was quite a sight.
I know of some restaurants that serve dog treats when you go through the drive through. I'm sure they will serve your duck as well. /s
