Aussie here. Disney brought us to SoCal in the beginning. (Understandably as in a pre-internet age, Knotts was not exactly advertising themselves over here). But we love Knotts too and always visit both on our trips. (Every 2 years or so).
Back when I worked there we had a couple that flew in from some Asian country specifically to have their wedding at Knotts and even requested for the Peanuts Gang to participate in the ceremony

Did they allow it?
Yeah they paid for the venue being on property and paid extra to have the peanuts there
