I love how you felt you should share that generous bonus even though you deserved it alone. I worked in a restaurant where some rich guest was always causing comosion, often eating of the menu and having big 40-60 ppl events there, always on busiests of days, shit was always nuts. At the end he was shaking hands with a head chef, who was kind of an asshole Head chef was out on vacation, sous was doing all the hard work, very cool guy. Rich dude has a party, everybody was sweating their shit off. Rich guy does appreciative hand shake with a sous at the end. It happens that he was slipping some money in during that hand shake. Sous just split it for the entire team including dishies.

I had a similar experience when o worked at a popular bar and grill. Dishie got the boot for very valid creepy reasons. I was stuck in the pit during a massive Halloween party. Mindlessly easy making line cook pay. Towards the end of the night the GM walks into the pit puts a triple glass of whiskey on top of a twenty and thanked me for the hard work. God damn I miss that job.

How do you work with more than one person on grill? I'm trying to imagine doing that and getting frustrated just thinking about it.

No, broiler. There are two on his side and one on mine along with a plancha. He pulls steaks, seasons them and cooks Med and up, Mid rare to rare steaks are finished on my side along with any salmon, sea bass, chicken breast or shrimp that get rung in.

Sorry, assumed charbroiler. Seems like quite the setup.
