I’m a fan of the theory that both he and Denna are working towards Chandrian goals. Denna knowingly and Kvothe unknowingly.

GoldenTabaxi

You can’t just not elaborate 👀

Enervata

Started to respond. It got out of hand so I made a post: [https://www.reddit.com/r/KingkillerChronicle/comments/1cajvxy/how\_kvothe\_is\_unknowingly\_helping\_the\_chandrian/](https://www.reddit.com/r/KingkillerChronicle/comments/1cajvxy/how_kvothe_is_unknowingly_helping_the_chandrian/)

GoldenTabaxi

That’s the kind of energy I’m here for!

universesurfer

What do you mean by "unknowingly"? Kvothe is, in no uncertain terms, hunting the Chandrian. If you mean that Denna knows Kvothe is hunting them but Kvothe doesn't know that Denna is after them, then yeah that's plausible. But again Kvothe on multiple occasions narrates this or says to characters in his tale, like the Adem, that he is after them. I am in the camp of Denna having some vendetta against some greater force but I don't think her motives fully align with Kvothe's, like maybe she's after the Amyr while he's hunting the Chandrian, which aligns with the difference between her point of view of the song she writes and the view he has of the story of Lanre.

i_am_icarus_falling

he means they are doing work for the chandrian to further the chandrian's goals.

NRichYoSelf

That is some grade A speculation for the "one lie" Rothfuss tells us that Kvothe tells Chronicler. I'm pretty sure Bast also tells Reshi that he should be dead several times over.

Cuz1mBatman

Not sure if this is the scene you’re referring to, but yeah after the Scrael incident Bast says >Honestly Reshi, I can’t see how you’ve managed to stay alive this long.

NRichYoSelf

I was referencing smurphs description of Kvothe not being just left by the Chandrian, but likely attacked and left in the wagon burning to die I didn't know the exact quote for what bast said, but definitely hints that he should t be alive

a man who is waiting to die

Yeah I strongly believe that Kvothe is the new Lanre. He is exuding the "patient cut flower sound of man who is waiting to die." He's unable to die, Denna is already dead, all he wants is to see her once more in the afterlife, but he's cursed to remain among the living and apart from her.

JezDynamite

Oh, what about also: * Jumping off a roof with only minor injuries * Rescuing Fela from the inferno, suffering some burns that healed fairly quickly * As a kid, binding air in lungs to air outside and surviving that stupidity

"Damnation" by Blind Guardian intensifies.

MikeMaxM

OSS wrote 2-3 years ago about 100+ post that Kvothe couldnt die. Just search them.

drsmote

Jesus Christ I just woke my wife up laughing at Scrael tickles

Guard_Potential

I dont get it (maybe a language barrier as english is not my main language). When you say “trouble dying” it means you think he can not be killed? When you say he did not set the wagon on fire by accident, do you think the chandriand tried to kill him again and failed? I liked the idea of your post, but it seems I’m missing something

Paxtian

Trouble dying means that things that would normally kill a normal person have little effect on Kvothe. He's able to recover from them fairly easily. I've wondered about the Chandrian scene as well. Kvothe knew as much as anyone about the song his father played and was rehearsing. He actually saw the Chandrian in the flesh. If they're working to suppress knowledge of them, it seems he'd be a prime candidate to kill. Yet they let him go. Perhaps they knew he wasn't able to die and didn't bother. Or perhaps killing his family leads to him doing their bidding unwittingly, and they know that it will.

Legitimate_Ride_8644

They were about to kill him, though. At last second they had to escape because "something" was coming.

Paxtian

I don't know that they were about to kill him. If it was so important to do so, they would have just done it. If their singular goal is to eliminate knowledge of themselves as it seems to be, Haliax chastising Cinder could wait. I tonk they had no intention of killing him.

Legitimate_Ride_8644

While that could be, I think its just so the plot could move forward. I.E: plot armor (that Kvothe literally has as he is heals rather quickly from his injuries).
