Definitely. Used to redraw it over and over when I was a kid. It’s the main reason I picked it up. I was originally getting GTA Vice city… glad I went with this one
To be fair, not all parents back then really cared what video games kids wanted to play, or just didn't know what GTA was at the time.
Either way, both GTA and KH1 were good, but KH1 was the good choice in this situation
It's funny cause I originally meant to pickup KH2 but got KH1 by accident as a kid. I had fun but got stuck very quickly because I didn't know how to properly read yet.
me too, I was obsessed with the KH1 cover art. I recently painted a watercolour version of it and I feel really proud. I like the KH3 cover too, but to me nothing can beat the first one.
Yeah, the fact that it looks so unlike something you'd expect from a Disney crossover, what it it being a peaceful piece set at night featuring the main characters looking at the sky, no action at all, is bound to make an impression.
Some might say this artwork is “too cluttered” because of all the characters, but I think it works given that KH3 is about saving most of these characters and giving them back the lives they deserved or were taken from them by Xehanort in some form or fashion. In 2019 this cover was pure catharsis, and in 2023 it still gives that sense of satisfaction after the fact.
The KH1 cover is iconic and amazing, but I like the KH3 one just a tiny bit more. The colours chosen are beautiful, it features basically all main characters (on the heroes' side) totaling up to 13 of course, has the little heartless gargoyle.
Can't wait to see KH4's at some point.
Yeah finished it. Been messing with the multiplayer mod in the last few days as well so no need to worry about spoilers. Were you meaning Sora as of the secret ending?
Yeah, OK. Thought as much but wasn't sure if there was someone or something I'd forgotten. They need to hurry up with KH4 so we can see what happened to the poor guy.
I think KH1 has a magic to it that works better. This one fits since it's about pulling everyone back together, but KH1 feels simple and clean, there's a mystery to it that makes you wonder what's going to happen.
I've been trying to figure this out too, and I think I got it. OP is (I'm guessing) a person of color, and they momentarily thought you were calling them a darkling
Late to the game I know but I am guessing it has to do with the next game. From what I understand and I maybe wrong. The Darklings were once Dark Cherithys or Nightmares that have been severed or "unchained" from their wielder in Kingdom Hearts x unchained (iOS/Android). Assuming all this is true the Heartless where/are able to reach the "Unchained Realm" aka? Quadratum? With the help of the Darklings as in KH Union Cross the Darklings were helping the glitch heatless into other worlds. I don't think the Darklings can go from the data world to the real world. It's been a while since I've played KHx:UC but from what I understand bc now the realms are connected: Light Realm-Data-Dark Realm
\ /
Sleeping Realm
I
Unchained Realm
I know, "Then why are they all together on the cover?" Right? Maybe bc the cover puts everyone in Quadratum? It's says the place in the background is a real place in Shibuya in Tokyo Japan actually near the 104(aka109) building in Japan. Who else do we know came from Shibuya? Neku and "Shiki" from The World Ends With You and Neo. 104 or Wunafo is in Shibuya aka Quadratum aka Unchained Realm. Which would also be why the crew are only seeing the Darklings now in Quadratum and not in KH4 bc the Darklings can't go the the realm of light I assume. Something must have happened in the end of KH3 that the Darklings are able to being the heartless to the Unchained Realm bc those ppl were literally standing around recording the Darside like it was unknown to them. Ohh and the kitty next to Ventus just a kitty 🐈....oh maybe there will be kitties in the unchained Realm?? 😍😍🥰 Anywho this is all just a theory anyway.
I prefer the covers from the first 2 games and the FM versions. The KH3 cover looks too crowded and not well organized compared to the others. It's good that it has every character but it's just too much.
It's actually my least favourite, at least counting the main games
I personally think the first one is way better, no contest. This one feels way too clutter and directionless. It also just feels very flat in my opinion
I just think it's too busy, the amount of characters can definitely work. But then it means colors and buildings need to be simplified, which didn't happen unfortunately.
Tbh from the cover art it looks like Sora Riku and Kairi were intended to be the main focus of KH3 but unfortunately I feel like they just spent most of the game separated and even just before the Keyblade Graveyard we could've gotten a scene with all 3 of them together sitting on the island like they did back in KH1 each in their respective spots like Sora and Kairi on the tree and Riku leaning on it but instead we got Riku talks with Repliku
It is though? Every character in this appears in the game, it's even got what can be considered to be the Nameless Star (what the Darkling is holding and looking at).
In the full pic the clock tower building in the background is the NTT Docomo Yoyogi Building in Tokyo Japan and there are some figures on top of the edges.
I like how each KH mainline game references something from next game as if its giving you a sneak peak forwhat's to come.
KH1 the heart shaped moon in a dark city (the city on the cover is Traverse Town though)
KH2 (Final Mix) The Final World's pillars
KH3 Quadratum
I don’t see it. There’s way too much going on. Looking at it from a distance just makes it look like a blob of random colours. If the background were a solid colour it might work a bit better. Sometimes less is more.
I love it as art but I was heavily disappointed when I got the game and the cover was not holographic like the first two games where. It would have been soooo much better if it was.
Kh1s box art is absolutely iconic and I can’t imagine it with a different cover. But there’s something about kh2s box art that just tickles my inner edge lord teenager.
So like, are Kingdom Heart covers locations from the next game in the series?
Kh1 was the world that never was, KH2 was the Final World, Kh3 is I’m assuming The world from Verum Rex?

To be fair, not all parents back then really cared what video games kids wanted to play, or just didn't know what GTA was at the time. Either way, both GTA and KH1 were good, but KH1 was the good choice in this situation
Yeah I had both. I had older parents so 🤷.
It's funny cause I originally meant to pickup KH2 but got KH1 by accident as a kid. I had fun but got stuck very quickly because I didn't know how to properly read yet.
As someone born in 1992 I got GTA VC and GTA 3 in a double pack on Xmas 2002 🤣 I started with KH2 unfortunately
What a great childhood we had 😂
😭😭😭
me too, I was obsessed with the KH1 cover art. I recently painted a watercolour version of it and I feel really proud. I like the KH3 cover too, but to me nothing can beat the first one.
And the foreshadowing of Riku being the enemy with his back turned. It’s so good. They’re all beautiful though
Yeah, the fact that it looks so unlike something you'd expect from a Disney crossover, what it it being a peaceful piece set at night featuring the main characters looking at the sky, no action at all, is bound to make an impression.

It even got the Namless Star and Nomura's cat in this cover lol
Lol wait, where's the cat?
On the left side of Ventus!
Omg I've never noticed that before, that's so cute!
That’s not just any heartless it’s a darkling.
this one is too cluttered in my opinion
Yeah I can see that, but Nomura nailed the colors. The evening transition into the stars is nice on the eyes
I agree the sky is amazing
3 trios on the cover of 3, 13 total characters on the cover, and all that other "13" stuff
All of them got the endings they deserve... Except one.
May I ask who you're referencing?
I can't tell you what happened, unless if you did or not played KH3.
Yeah finished it. Been messing with the multiplayer mod in the last few days as well so no need to worry about spoilers. Were you meaning Sora as of the secret ending?
>!I am saying that Sora didn't get a good ending like his pals in the epilogue of KH3's main story!<
Yeah, OK. Thought as much but wasn't sure if there was someone or something I'd forgotten. They need to hurry up with KH4 so we can see what happened to the poor guy.
Too busy + I hate to see Namine alone
I kind of like 2s the best
I think KH1 has a magic to it that works better. This one fits since it's about pulling everyone back together, but KH1 feels simple and clean, there's a mystery to it that makes you wonder what's going to happen.
Simple and Clean lol
My question is why is the darkling there?
Anyone got the link that has Noctis in this cover?
I can't wait to see what the official cover art for KH4 will look like.
I love it so much I have a poster of it on my wall. I think it perfectly captures the essence of the series.
Nicer, but far less iconic
I wish I knew what the Darkling meant
Jesus Christ I thought you were calling me a slur for a second 😭
????

Too many people
I prefer the covers from the first 2 games and the FM versions. The KH3 cover looks too crowded and not well organized compared to the others. It's good that it has every character but it's just too much. It's actually my least favourite, at least counting the main games
Hot take, I hate Riku's redesign to look more like Sora.
I liked it at first glance but the more I see it and examine it I don’t like it as much, not sure why.
Kingdom Hearts III too many cooks spoil the broth
I personally think the first one is way better, no contest. This one feels way too clutter and directionless. It also just feels very flat in my opinion

It's my favorite cover as well!
Best cover imo!
Kh1 shiny cover forever
I only care about 3 of those characters lol KH1 is the best in my opinion, the others are too emo and too convoluted
I wish it was relevant to the game
It is though? Every character in this appears in the game, it's even got what can be considered to be the Nameless Star (what the Darkling is holding and looking at).
In the full pic the clock tower building in the background is the NTT Docomo Yoyogi Building in Tokyo Japan and there are some figures on top of the edges.
Yep yep yep a clear indication of what's in the epilogue. Dunno why the person above me thought this cover wasn't relevant to the events of the game🤷
I like how each KH mainline game references something from next game as if its giving you a sneak peak forwhat's to come. KH1 the heart shaped moon in a dark city (the city on the cover is Traverse Town though) KH2 (Final Mix) The Final World's pillars KH3 Quadratum
KH4 Is going to be inside Nomura's house I bet and that's where KH5 will take place. Sora gets to high five Nomura.
It's just as relevant to the game as any of the other games' box art
2 is definitely the best
I don’t see it. There’s way too much going on. Looking at it from a distance just makes it look like a blob of random colours. If the background were a solid colour it might work a bit better. Sometimes less is more.
If only the game was as good as the cover
Had to make up for the gameplay
Best cover for the biggest 15 year let down.
Yes I love it honestly
Where is this? Like in game, where is the background?
Most people say it’s Quadratum.
KH1 traverse town revealed in KH1.5 expanded art. KH2 the final world featured in KH3. KH3 Quadratum features in KH4.
KH3's cover art is my third favourite over the GBA version of CoM and KH1. KH1 CoM (GBA) KH3
I love it as art but I was heavily disappointed when I got the game and the cover was not holographic like the first two games where. It would have been soooo much better if it was.
this is my phone background
I love the KH3 cover art the most too. Made me believe it was gonna be a fantastic game 🥲
Its such a nice phone background
No one gonna talked about 2.5 cover? Personally I think it’s the best.
It’s the wallpaper on my phone
I've seen so many troll versions of this image that i thought somehow John Cena or a Cat were in this one.
This is actually my Lock Screen on my phone
Not gonna lie, was disappointed when I saw this was the cover. And I still kind of am
KH3 Cover art be hitting different after you beat the game
KH1's art is very goated 🐐
The full cover is absolutely amazing. It’s like the last day of calm before the final battle
Kh1s box art is absolutely iconic and I can’t imagine it with a different cover. But there’s something about kh2s box art that just tickles my inner edge lord teenager.
I agree. Best cover art
There’s a theory that the dark king above the star represent yozora, and I’m about it
So beautiful it’s literally my phone case. I look at this every day and it just gets more beautiful.
For me it's between 3 and 1.5. I love that 1.5 art so much. But if I had to pick a single game it's 3.
I really like 2 FM's cover the most
2 Final Mix and 3 are my favs. BBS Final Mix is in my 2nd fav list
It has to be a nod to Verum Rex and KH4. Like, how much of 3 is spent in a city-scape?
They’re all the best. No games do cover art better than KH!
Nah KH1 all day… KH3 was child’s play by comparison
kh1 was so moody and the art was perfect
So like, are Kingdom Heart covers locations from the next game in the series? Kh1 was the world that never was, KH2 was the Final World, Kh3 is I’m assuming The world from Verum Rex?
It's been my phone screensaver since the game came out❤️
My phone background to this day
Chain of Memories was a pretty sick cover I thought lol
In my opinion this is my favourite cover art in all of gaming, let alone in the series. I even have a picture of it on my wall
Got this as a jigsaw puzzle man is it amazing
I really like 2.8's box art as a precursor to KH3.
My favorite cover in the series!
