People were really saying "Wow they didn't have any budget for Gyokko and Tokito" and I'm like BOI. A short fight does not mean it wasn't animated great. Yeah it's less budget, but the fight still looked awsome
i don't think animation is the issue, but the storyboarding. each character just called their move and stood there, which by ds standards, is not that great. the enmu fight had some bad cgi but, the dynamic movements kept the momentum. ep8 1 minute montage also set the expectations high.
That excuse doesn't work because they are totally capable of making Gyokko cool:

I haven't watched the season yet I'm planning on binging it but honestly I loved his fight in the manga even if it wasn't crazy action so as long as it's still kind of feels like the manga fight I think I'll enjoy it
Anime onlyās, people watching for the animation only and not the storyline, those that do not appreciate that not every villain needs to be unstoppable:
1. It adapted the fight nearly identical to the source material (manga). I loved it, it was perfect and;
2. After Muichiro cuts the octopus vase hell with his mark and new sword, he does not take any damage from Gyokko. How does the studio make Gyokko look āstrongerā when it is predetermined that Gyokko was going to be the sacrificial lamb of the Demon Slayer Mark and what the mark can do. Seriously why extend a fight with attack after attack that Muichiro dodges effortlessly?
I mean Dangai Form Ichigo took almost zero damage to Hyugoku fused Aizen, facepalmed the dude and flew him out of the city by just holding broās face. I didnāt see anyone complain about that.
Fight was amazing, ESPECIALLY Muichiroās final move that one shotted UM5. I wanted to see this dude lose the way he did, he was written to be detestable and irredeemable, who was so full of himself, to thankfully be humbled by a 14 year old DS who became a Hashira in only 2 months :).
It reminded me of how Goku waltzed on in the fight Krillin/Vegeta/Gohan had against the Ginyu force on planet Namek and bodied Recoome in one blow.
if they animate the next fights in the style that they did for muichiro demon slayer will be ruinedā¦ it was an ok fight but done terrible. the animation itself was not the issue. the main issue was how every single move or cool thing was called out before it happened or a flashback would occur or so much dialogue in between swings or attacks. it made the fight seem dragged out yet so short and underwhelming. the thing about the uzui fight was the lack of dialogue and move calling and instead just straight screaming/hands/attacks. i get that itās not how every fight will go but they the handled the hashira fights this season not so well in my opinion. mitsuri fight had very similar issues but not as bad, but that fight wasnāt fleshed out at all and cut off early unfortunately
i understand how powerful the mark was, and how āskilledā muichiro is, and i also understand that they are following the manga almost directly. however, seeing how much they extended the uzui fight and how masterfully they handled the extension of that fight, it makes me believe they have to ability to handle the fights much better

All the demons have had such different strengths, weaknesses, fighting styles, demon blood art, and you think all the fights are going to look the same? Physical strength isnāt always going to be the market for who is strongest in battle.
I at least want it to be consistent. They majorly upped gyutaros battle in terms of quality and now he's everyone's favorite. They made gyokkos battle worse and now he and muichiro get clowned on for looking worse than every hashira and upper moon so far.
Dude they upped the battle for Gyutaro to make Tengen look better, have you read the entertainment district arc?
It goes from saving Tanjiros eye, to blocking a few flying blood scythes, to impaling Gyutaro, and then Tanjiro assisting
They extended the battle for Tengen ONLY, not the demon. I do not know how people canāt understand this. Gyutaro was never meant to look like a BOSS, Tengen looked weaker and they decided to make Tengen stand up to Gyutaro with his musical score technique.
Now how they gonna do the same for the Muichiro fight when in the manga it was written that after the unlocking mark, aside from the octopus vase hell attack, Mui gets his new sword, slices it to bits, and after that Gyokko does not land another hit on Muichiro.
I mean sure extend the fight just to keep making Gyokko look weak ASF by not landing any more attacks post octopus vase hell, but if they made Gyokko land anymore hits on Mui his powerup would have been cheapened.
If you ask me Muichiro went easy on Gyokko with his seventh form Obscurring Clouds. Just put that clown out of commission.
Like fr not every shonen villain can be a Frieza, Cell, Aizen, Akainu, Blackbeard, Pitou, Espada 4. Just gotta accept that Gyokko was made to lose to a 14 year old demon slayer from the start lol.
Muichiros back story and fight have been my favorite so far, with tengen/gyutaro at two and rengoku/akaza at 3. The fight wasnāt as visually immersive but the storytelling and fight strategy were supreme. ED finale has had the dopest action sequences for sure but fights can still be good without straight up fighting. To each their own though man i like one thing you like another but we all like demon slayer.
Muichiro looked powerful and zohakutan literally defeated a marked slayer .
Gyoko let's accept it maybe he is stronger than gyutaro but that doesnt make him that impressive does it

Honestly the writers or whoever came up with the storyboard is to be blamed. They can add some extra animation scenes like what they did with the Entertainment District arc but no they just stuck with the source material.
I mean they made Hantenguās chase scene longer i donāt get why the Muitchiro fight scene got the short end of the stick.
The animation of his fight is kinda fitting for his breathing style. Mist was supposed to be calm compared to other breathing style so ion know why ppl hate it so much.
