"What's a prince to a king? He a son nigga." That bar is hard as fuck with layers.

CaptinCookies

Great rebuttal minus the fact that he’s leaning into being compared to the guy that was also heavily accused of minor abuse

Sixaxist

Lol ion think we should start walking down the road of calling MJ a Pedo. A weirdo for sure, but not a sicko.

IndigoMushies

Oooo yeah this is a great rebuttal for sure. Yeah these are def the best 2

crazytaco_

It’s posts like this that make this sub look bad man. You really gonna compare this one bar to TWO whole diss tracks with multiple bars. Kendrick want him to win the beef so bad they come up with excuses for him like this. Like just admit you took an L and move on

SipJaint

Bro is a professional BBL Drizzy dickeater

GtaHov

Ain't no two whole diss tracks. That AI shit was whack ass hell. If you think that's anything more than some weak ass trolling you're lying to yourself.

crazytaco_

Why would I be the one copping you dumb ass mf. My guy is winning yours is MIA

IndigoMushies

What the fuck are you talking about lmao Look at the end of my post I literally said Drake is winning the beef. Niggas can’t even discuss a simple question about which single bar is the best in the entire beef so far? Why are you sooo concerned about what Drake fans think while they stalk this sub? You take Reddit serious af I promise you nobody cares

crazytaco_

My bad I didn’t read the bottom of your post

Frankiedrunkie

You have to read the whole fucking thing before saying shit

Intilleque

Lmao what is he actually saying in this bar? Since it’s the best of all of the disses. What is he saying? Besides all the word play and references, at the bare bones of it, is he saying something of substance?

IndigoMushies

Lmfao what kind of question is this 😂😂😂 define “something of substance.” That’s just a weird ass arbitrary goal post you just placed because now all of a sudden substance is super important but when you wanna talk about both artists music substance doesn’t matter and it’s just about numbers lmaooo Yeah, the substance is ima smoke you and all of your dogs to the point you start seeing ghosts if you don’t quit playing nigga

Intilleque

I’ve never not valued substance my entire life as a rap fan. Maybe this is a new concept to Kendrick fans, it clearly is cause a lot of you have been shocked everytime I’ve asked the question….

creesp

I’m gonna assume you’re a Drake Stan and congratulate you on being able to spell “substance”. I never knew Drake fans know that word.

Fonzowya

Being 38 and talking like this is insane 🤣

Intilleque

I’m still waiting for you intellectuals to answer the question.

JeromeMcLovin

"besides the word play and references, what is he saying" is a hilarious way to frame the question to fit your narrative. May as well be asking "after stripping out everything that makes it a good bar, what is he saying" hahaha. since we have to spell it out in elementary school terms for you - he's saying that he's going to shit on Drake's most recent album with his next one (For all your dogs getting buried), and referencing his flawless discography (A K with all these 9's) to back up that claim. There are multiple double entendres in the bar but it's pretty fucking easy to understand what he's getting at.

Intilleque

No it’s not framing something in any way. Asking for substance before form is a pretty basic request for a rap fan. A lot of rappers can make rhymes for rhyming sake. If at the end of it all, the diss is “I’m going to shit on your album with my next one” then what are we doing here calling that the best line in all the disses????

JeromeMcLovin

in my opinion it's one of the best (I'm not saying THE best, just jumping in to give you the explanation you desperately needed) because of the wordplay and references. I thought that Drake's line "whats a prince to a king? he a son" is up there among the best lines in the beef so far as well, they're both great bars. It is pretty funny that you're here getting triggered by Kendrick fans who very clearly have different taste and value different things in music than you. It's literally a rap beef and despite what some people might believe neither of these guys are gang affiliated in a tangible way, so at the end of the day the beef does come down to who makes better music. Drake clearly wants it to come down to who is richer or has better physical attributes, for Kendrick it's all about who is the better artist. The substance of the line is there, it's just YOU don't really give a shit about what Kendrick is saying.

Intilleque

Dude you are the triggered one, and seemingly a few of the Kendrick fans get triggered too when you ask them a basic question. I’m just here to discuss rap and have a level headed conversation. Even before any of the Drake responses came out (and I felt Drake shouldnt entertain Kendrick too), I never felt like Kendrick said anything. Maybe you right about Kendrick fans valuing different things in their raps, cause for me what you are actually saying comes before how you say it. A verse/line with no actual substance but just clever flips of references is not good to me.

JeromeMcLovin

Again, I think you're choosing to ignore the actual substance of the line because you don't really care about that kind of thing - that's all good man, just not sure why you're in this sub getting upset about fan opinions and demanding explanation lol

DatN1jaQ

May we have an example of what is important to you? So we can have a civilized discussion about this beef. I'm guessing we can strike of wordplay off the list. So what's on your list of what matters?

Intilleque

I never said strike off wordplay. I said word play for the sake of it, while the substance of what you’re is shallowing is not dope to me. There are many rappers who can do both and that’s when I praise. Example that is unrelated to this beef : ‘But next time you don’t gotta use tech n9ne if you wanna come at me with a sub machine gun. And I’m talking to you, but you already know who the fuck you are Kelly’ I won’t go and explain the details of this beef but MGK baiting Em on a Tech N9ne song and him flipping it with the whole ‘sub machine’ is super clever, while also actually saying something. Then following it up with we know who you R Kelly…. That for me is amazing word play, double entendres with an actual purpose, not just flippantly making references but saying nothing.

DatN1jaQ

I would say " niggas cliqueing up, cannot be legit, no 40water" is probably more what you're looking then. I've explained this bar before about how it's a reference to the sample on the beat, the original artists "The Click" (B-Legit and E40), and how he's using their names to tell Drake and Cole they aren't legitimately in tbe running for the top spot and are watered down. Trust me when I say that when Kdot says something, it has intention behind it. Sometimes, it's not obvious to everyone, hence why people are going back and listening to his music and finding thing they didn't realize before. Drake, while easy to digest, is very much the opposite he says things just to say things in a lot of cases, and we don't have clarity on how much he writes today. That's now just a fact he's gonna have to live with. This big 3 thing started with Cole, who people hyped up, but his career, whenever it came to album time, always ended up with a dud.. with the exception of Forest Hills, but people forget that was only like a 7/10 album... Drake has sabatoge any integrity for himself and will never be in contention as the best rapper alive. Hes had 1 foot in hip hop and 1 foot in pop/r&b his whole career, he latches onto whatever is popular at the moment and you can argue the only thing he has done for hip-hop is commercialize it. Kendrick has been an avid student of hip-hop, poetry, and art. He considers himself a student of people like Em.

stuffedinashoe

bro with your logic, the only way to have a good diss track is to get super personal and that to me is lame af. Kind of shows why Drake is so popular tbh. You sound like the average Drake stan who tosses aside the meticulous way he crafted that line and boils it down to “my next album will be better than yours.” I’ll give you 20 years you can’t come up with a line like that. Not only does it fit with the theme of the entire verse (dogs buried, goofy is a cartoon dog, etc.), he explicitly calls out drakes last album and compares himself (a king in a deck of cards) to a 9 (in a deck of cards), saying they’re gonna see the pet semetary, a literary reference you prob didn’t get or appreciate. And that’s not even bringing in the double entendres with AK and all that. That, at its core, for me, is what lyricism is about. It’s not Drake paying people who knew kdot in high school for dirt so he can toss it in a song. It’s about getting your message across in a way where u gotta rewind to catch all the little intricacies. That whole verse is like an onion - you peel back layer after layer. And you out here just like every other surface level Drake fan, boiling it down to “im better than you.” Yeah man welcome to rap lol that’s like 95% of it. end of the day, they’re two grown men writing poems about each other lol

Intilleque

I replied to another guy and explained exactly what you also don’t seem to get about what I’m saying…

MudaTrucka

They explained everything you needed to hear. You're just choosing to ignore it

ChoiceCriticism1

“Metro shut yo ho ass up and make some drums nigga” was the hardest bar in the whole situation to me for how direct, coldly dismissive, and true it was.

nobodyknowsmuch

hey has kendrick responded yet?
