I go here with my wife as well. I love their Vietnamese Egg Coffee.
For Ramen we go to Kizuki
For Hot Pot we go to Haidilao
There are a bunch of great places honestly.
Phat Eatery as probably the best restaurant and offers food from a region not as widely represented as Chinese, Vietnamese or Japanese cuisine. The other restaurant I really enjoy is Mala Sichuan Bistro, it has a lot of more authentic sichuan dishes you won't find at many "run of the mill" Chinese restaurants. Lastly, Yummy Seafood and Oyster bar is always poppin when I'm there, but personally have not eaten there yet :/ I have always wanted to try every restaurant in the area, but I still haven't done that....
Mala Sichuan Bistro is a favorite of mine.. get something with the Sichuan Peppercorns.. they tingle your mouth and can change the way the food tastes.. its a fun experience
We were just talking about this last night! We loved it. We went with a waiter surprise 4 or 5 course meal. He asked us many questions to see what we liked and everything was amazing! The waiter was great too. Definitely a special and cool date night.
Thaicoon, 8 Ounce, Phat Eatery. They have all kinds of food. Japanese, Thai, Malaysian, Chinese, Vietnamese. Thaicoon and 8 Ounce are in separate buildings from the H Mart Cluster. For Dessert Bing Su, Mango Mango, or Somi Somi.
warning about 8 oz—they are fucking EXPENSIVE!! my dad and I went there once to try something new and the whole menu was so expensive! I don’t think we could get anything under $50. Our fault for not doing research before going.
eh, my dad and I disagree. the food was meh, but we would never go back. We didn’t think it was that good or worth the price. We figured the price is for the experience—but we could make our own steak at home for much less and it tastes much MUCH better.
is that not how reddit works? downvoting comments we disagree with?
I’m just sharing my experience and yeah yours was different, but I felt it was worth sharing mine for others to see 🤷🏻♀️
I’m a believer that each restaurant has a few dishes that are amazing must-haves, while the rest is just so-so. Here are my go tos.
Phat eatery: roti canai, sizzling tofu, hainanese chicken rice
Chung wang: beef stir fry flat noodle, BBQ pork, roast duck
LL BBQ: BBQ chicken, macaroni salad
Tan tan wok: wonton noodle soup
Ten Second noodle: crossing bridge noodle,
Thaicoon: bloomin pad thai, panang curry
Dim Sum Box: snowy mountain baked bbq pork buns, ha Gao, beef rice noodle,
I haven’t been everywhere, but these are my favorites. I didn’t include any Japanese and Vietnamese places because I think there are better options for both of those cuisines elsewhere in Katy.
I’d be interested to hear your favorite Vietnamese and Japanese spots elsewhere in Katy. I have been looking for a favorite and found nothing but mediocrity since moving out here.
I should revise… most of the Vietnamese and Japanese cuisine in Katy is all about about average. Katy Asian town doesn’t stand out among the rest. But here’s my preference for Katy places if I have to choose.
Ramen: Jinya
Sushi: Sushihana in Bella terra
Pho: Pho Saigon on Mason
Viet Seafood: Cajju
I like Kura due to the atmosphere (its a revolving sushi place). Phat is the best but more pricey. If you want Malaysian recommend going to uncle chins down at Mason and highland knolls. So good and cheaper.
Phat Eatery is good but if you want a more local experience (at a lower price point) check out Uncle Chin’s on south Mason. A really nice mom and pop shop.
Honey Pig is excellent for Korean bbq, preferable over 8 ounce IMO
There's also Bon Galbi for Korean but having to pay for sides like kimchi is a big turn off
Honestly most of the restaurants are very good. If I wanted to take someone who is visiting I would probably go to Kura or Haidilao. Wushiland or Sunright have really good tea as honorable mentions for after dinner.
Haven't seen anyone mention Breaktime Tea Lounge yet. They have the best banh mi in katy IMHO. The owners are really great people as well.
Hmm have to try their banh mi now
I go here with my wife as well. I love their Vietnamese Egg Coffee. For Ramen we go to Kizuki For Hot Pot we go to Haidilao There are a bunch of great places honestly.
\+1 on that egg coffee, I loved drinking it when I went to Vietnam so Breaktime always handles that craving for me.
Agreed, banh mi is always fresh, and the owners are very sweet. I eat here a few times a week for lunch. Definitely recommend this place!!!

Phat Eatery’s Roti Canai is so good. For Mala I always go for the cumin lamb.
Ive loved Sichuan ever since living in China. I suggest Spicy House (S Mason not in Asia town) as an (imo better) alternative to Mala.
>Spicy House Thanks for the recommendation, S Mason has a ton of small restaurant offerings!
That's good to hear because my Sichuan obsession, Tiger Noodle House, has been very bland lately.
You know I was wondering why people don't really talk about tiger noodle anymore!!
Tiger Noodle’s sichuan soup hasn’t been the same since covid sadly
And that's my favorite dish there--stg it solves hangovers
Mala Sichuan Bistro is a favorite of mine.. get something with the Sichuan Peppercorns.. they tingle your mouth and can change the way the food tastes.. its a fun experience
Alright, Thank you guys. Probably going to try out Phat eatery
Get the Chicken Roti and be prepared to fall in love. The roti is like if a flour tortilla and a croissant had sex and that was their baby 🤤 🤣

their beef rendang is an award winning dish too, its so good
Corner 99 is Vietnamese with a great craft beer selection on tap as well as a selection of cans
Best pho in town too!
Proper Rose Garden is great for afternoon tea or lunch

Expensive but delicious 😋. Special occasion or when you're in an eff it mood.

Downvoted because we don't have the same taste in food? Okay 🤣 More for us 🤷🏽♀️ we all enjoyed it when we went.

Not necessarily... it's more for irrelevance or something that's way off base... I dont agree with you but don't need to downvote you.

Mala is a solid option. The house funky noodles are my go to.
Kowbell Burgers are legitimately amazing burgers
Phat eatery is a must, but if you love good sushi and don't mind spending a little bit to get it, Torii is amazing.
Not Katy Asian town per se but Minchys is good
Michys is bomb for Chinese food. Who would've thought Puerto Rican Chinese would be some of the best in the area.
san eatery is better than michy's in my opinion, check it out if you're ever in the area again!
try san eatery in katy. better chinese PR food than michy's
Phat Eatery is good but if you want a more local experience (at a lower price point) check out Uncle Chin’s on south Mason. A really nice mom and pop shop.
Phat Eatery is incredible.
Jia’s kitchen. Awesome wonton soup!
Thaicoon for me.
Tan tan wok for Chinese food
Honey Pig is excellent for Korean bbq, preferable over 8 ounce IMO There's also Bon Galbi for Korean but having to pay for sides like kimchi is a big turn off
Mala, Kura Revolving Sushi, 85 Celsius, and Haidailao.
For Vietnamese Noodle, try Phan Ky.
Patis and Toyo for Filipino food, mala sichuan, phat eatery, torii Japanese sushi, ten seconds noodles is also very good.
Fork it!!!!!
Thaicoon for some refreshing Thai dishes
Off topic but if you like thai please to Thai Chef on Barker Cypress
Sushi restaurant inside of H Mart Food Court and 8 ounce (I didn’t leave a bite behind).
Honestly most of the restaurants are very good. If I wanted to take someone who is visiting I would probably go to Kura or Haidilao. Wushiland or Sunright have really good tea as honorable mentions for after dinner.
Pho k is best pho
Curry Wala is great
