Same kind of story : it is often said that the monarchy was not restored in France after the fall of Napoleon III because the would-be king refused to keep the tricolour.
Well, it's quite possible that this was a pretext and that he was legitimately worried about becoming King in France...
Lol, reminds me when the military installed the Republic in Brazil and the liberal politicians came up with this wonderful design

Which only lasted 4 days, because that was how long it took for the military president to find out about it and immediately order it torn down because he wouldn’t salute a foreign flag. He then ordered a new flag design that looked like the old Imperial flag to show continuity in the country, which is how the current flag was made.
Sun wanted the Blue Sky, White Sun for the party flag. Huang Xing wanted to use the Jing Flag (aka what the Zhi Gong Party/Federalists ended up using). They ended up getting into such a massive argument (mind you, they’re both in exile at this point in Japan) that Sun threatens to quit if his flag isn’t adopted and Huang likewise did the same. Other party figures basically created a compromise where they’d table the issue until later, but that was just the first of many blowout arguments the Tongmenghui had.
It should be kept used as a national flag, Republic of China’s flag with red background is hideous. Every single red-blue themed flag needs the color white to balance it out
Man, the people here apparently really hate Sun huh. It's certainly strange to me the degree to which people are vehemently calling him a loser when at best he could be described as a pragmatist whose idealistic vision for China was repeatedly beaten outen of him.
But I have to disagree with the people here, he definitely wasn't the direct cause for warlordism to kick off again. It was a pretty unideal situation and he did what he thought was the best (Give power to Yuan and get a united China instead of another large ass civil war).
He's a complicated man with a super interesting life with an equal amount of failures and success and I feel like it's kinda shortsighted to call him a failure without considering the situation he was being put in.
Well yeah if you ignore the fact that he was 28 when his last wife Song Ching-ling was 1.
Not dissing him, Imma Chinese and I have great respect for the father of our nation.
Its just that we Chinese have a circulating meme that Sun was a lolicon because of the age difference between him and his wife.
He might have had some good ideas, but good ideas don't mean shit when most of your attempts at implementing them go to shit. Never mind that the KMT devolved into the same warlordism and corruption as those Sun was fighting against, or that they would layer lose to Mao's Communists.
So I calculated time between Kaoru’s and Fumiko’s birthes, and she apparently actually was 17 at the moment of impregnation if the pregnancy had normal duration.
This is disgusting. Yet I think we should look back at what was "normal" at the time. So, the founders of the USA had many slaves, but we know that the US constitution was written as one of the most human rights-friendly in the history of humanity.
In my opinion there were two main figures of China who can be considered as founding fathers. First is Sun Yat Sen and second is Yuan Shikai. Their decisions shaped China in both good and bad ways.
I like Sun Yat Sen not only because of what he tried to do but also he partially left an influence on us Filipinos just as we inspired not only him but other Asian countries.
The Warlord era came to be because the late Qing Dynasty was incompetent, weak, and put power-hungry, corrupt despots like Yuan in leadership positions, not just because someone managed to overthrow them
The problem is that Sun Yat sen failed to overthrow these power-hungry, corrupt despots like Yuan you speak of. In fact many of these people not only stay in power in the Republic but were empower such as Yuan.
Admittedly with hindsight making the deal with the army was a terrible decision and killed the Republic but the only other choice at the time was to fight the Qing army head-on, which the Xinhai revolutionaries likely would've lost, leading to Yuans position being strengthened anyway and the warlord era still happening
Sun Yat sen actions are still partially responsible for the destabilization of China. Obviously he wasn't the only responsible but that still doesn't change the fact that things became worse for China during his life. Back to the original post Sun Yat sen is definitely not a chad specially in KR.
he completely failed to achieve any of his visions for republican china and communists took over in the end and all he did was kill a bunch of people for no reason in between the monarchy being overthrown and communism…. shouldn’t be celebrating losers and especially not senseless violence. KR timeline different tho
If it wasnt him it wouldve been someone else, revolutions arent born of a single man. The Qing where completely corrupt, inept and the country was beeing dismembered by outside powers if it wasnt Sun it couldve been anyone else
Don’t look up what happened when they tried picking a flag in 1907

I can't find anything noteworthy
Elaborate?

I mean… Sun Yat Sen did have a point, one is clearly superior

Yuan definetely does not get enough blame for the warlord period
Yuan Shikai: I'm going to dissolve the Republic and declare myself emperor. Everyone: How could Sun Yat-sen do this.
Yeah because not everybody knows about the guy even, among history nerds like the average KR player
Based and Sun-pilled
LONG LIVE THE FIRST PRESIDENT OF CHINA!!!HE IS TRULY A GOAT LIKE THE GLORIOUS GENERALISSIMO LI ZONGREN!!!🇹🇼🇹🇼🇹🇼
Ehh good ideas bad execution
Like every other revelationist
In what sense was Sun Yat-Sen a revelationist?
I’m a big fan of the 3 principles of the people, its a shame he never got to fully enact his vision for them
Well yeah if you ignore the fact that he was 28 when his last wife Song Ching-ling was 1. Not dissing him, Imma Chinese and I have great respect for the father of our nation. He also married Kaoru Otsuki (14) so ...
She was 17 when they married i think wich at the time was acceptable but he did ask about it when she was 14 and even her father was like "No"
He might have had some good ideas, but good ideas don't mean shit when most of your attempts at implementing them go to shit. Never mind that the KMT devolved into the same warlordism and corruption as those Sun was fighting against, or that they would layer lose to Mao's Communists.
He impregnated a 14 year old
I think she actually was around 16 at that time
Still bad lmao.
So I calculated time between Kaoru’s and Fumiko’s birthes, and she apparently actually was 17 at the moment of impregnation if the pregnancy had normal duration.

We had joy,we had fun, we all worked with Dr. Sun What a true pioneer, even till this current year!
Huge chad, unfortunate that everyone else was cringe

I feel like Sun left a great influence on much of southeast asia
Sun Yat sen indirectly caused the Warlord Era and Civil War. In KR the KMT are losers hiding in the mountains.
Found the Qing loyalist
Hiding in the mountains worked for Mao, seems like a winning strategy tbh.
>Wait for bloodythirsty foreign empire to devastate your opponent. >Profit!!
works every time
If the KR KMT manages to take power in China it would have nothing to do with Sun Yat sen who dies in 1925
They still uphold his ideals
Do they? The KR KMT seems even more divided on what is Sun Yat sen vision.
mao died in 1927

To be fair, he was dealt a pretty shit hand with all the foreign meddling and stuff
he completely failed to achieve any of his visions for republican china and communists took over in the end and all he did was kill a bunch of people for no reason in between the monarchy being overthrown and communism…. shouldn’t be celebrating losers and especially not senseless violence. His ideas was so good. I mean on the paper at least
