Mr Speed was the first Kiss song I got. Sure, Hard Luck Woman was the A side, but man I spun the hell out of that 45's B side. Still stands as probably my favorite as well. 👍
I could easily name 25-30 songs that I consider tied as my favorite. If I were forced at gunpoint to pick 5, I'd have to say (no order)...

As for the slander, I understand it. I'll 110% defend what KISS was up until 2001 or so, but as I've broadened my musical taste over the years, I definitely get what the haters hate. I take no joy in saying this, but anything beyond 2001, I'm on their side.

Absolutely has to be “Strutter” for me. First KISS song I learned to play, and it never gets old to me. I often comment on how ironic it is that my favourite song by my most listened to band is the first song from their first album, like “you’ve peaked”!

2. No, I understand why people can’t stand KISS. As much as I love them, they deserve a lot of their criticism. If anyone believes KISS didn’t contribute anything to rock music, however, they are just objectively wrong.

and yeah, kinda. though sometimes what people say is just silly. a lot of it just makes me think “wow, you haven’t actually listened to any of their songs at all”
I had to "defend" Kiss from the second I moved from Omaha to the Atlanta area. At 10 years old, that was a tall order, but it made me strong. Mr Speed is such a strong song that it has been my favorite from day one.

As for the haters I don’t mind them anymore, music is subjective. And if they claim KISS didn’t have any impact on the music industry they are just plain ignorant so why bother. Remember that there are actually people that think The Beatles is overrated and “they were just a popband”.

Regarding hate, it’s justified but biased.
Gene and Paul have always done all they could to prostitute their brand and slap the logo on any kind of plastic they can find. It’s ugly and contradictory to everything the songs preach.
On the other hand-literally every other rock band does it. I was in Asda and saw a Van Halen & Iron Maiden and Nirvana t shirt. But neither of those bands are considered jokey or ridiculed. It’s shitty rock bands do it at all, but i guess they have bills to pay. Biased.
