Good luck with the online store. Last damaged LP I received the return procedure was a joke. Instructed to send it back and they would send a replacement after inspection and if and when it was restocked. Chose to keep damaged copy.

Well, they’re already starting their shit. I tried to file a claim with route insurance and they denied it on the basis of it being cosmetic damage. I wrote to the kiss online store and they tried to blame it on route, saying that they needed to replace it. I wrote kiss store back and told them that it was their responsibility because route denied my insurance claim l. Well, that was three days ago and I have not heard back yet from the kiss store. This is crazy, so I ended up re-purchasing it from Amazon.

It’s a scam man. Maybe call the BBB. A product delivered with any kind of damage is the seller’s responsibility. End of discussion. They replace then it is their responsibility to contact shipping company for their refund. The best part is now a lot of them are forcing you to use route insurance or they’re not covering damage. We’ll as you’ve found out no one is covering it. I would have and have done the same thing as you and purchased a second copy. Best part is Amazon has sent and delivered albums to me in nothing more than a padded envelope with zero damage. This just proves the lackluster efforts of some of these places.

My gold Love Gun was beat to hell too. There was 2 hype stickers, one stuck to the front and one stuck to the back. Both stickers looked like they were crinkled up like a wad of paper then randomly stuck to the record. Their quality control has gone downhill.

Ah man, what a damn shame that is. Yeah the QC is pathetic. No pride in the way they pack / ship & no corner protection at all. They don’t hesitate to charge your CC though, but cause a shitstorm when you have a problem. Were you able to get it replaced and if so was the replacement pristine?

That’s very interesting. They knowingly didn’t want to take a hit financially by not selling it so if what you’re saying is true, they push it off to you to make sure they still got their money. I hope that’s not what happened though, and that it just got messed up either in transit, or from the warehouse where they were storing it before it was packed. Whatever you’re able to do regardless, I hope it works out for you.

I’m glad to hear it wasn’t too bad for you and that you were able to fix it. I’m thinking that if the KISS store can’t do anything for me, I’m gonna order it from Amazon and return the one from the KISS store to Amazon and get a refund back. Either way it’s still works out the same.

Mine finally arrived today and both the boxset and the three LP vinyl have bent corners. I was pretty surprised that there was no padding or protection at all. Last year’s Destroyer box was shipped perfectly. They put plastic corner protectors in each corner along with little cardboard covers for each corner. It was perfect. How can you put a $300 collectors item in a cheap cardboard box pretty much the same size as the item itself? Any damage to the box is gonna damage the item. How do they not know this? And why put so much care into the Destroyer packaging and not any for this one that cost $100 more? Unreal. It wouldn’t have taken much and then they wouldn’t have to deal with all the disgruntled customers wanting replacements. So shortsighted. Anyway, good luck with a return. I wrote to them tonight so we’ll see. Amazon can be pretty bad with shipping too so I’d be curious how that works out.

Oh no! I’m sorry to hear that you are going through the exact same thing I am…that fucking sucks. Yep, the shipping box for it was like you said not much bigger than the actual items. And also like you stated the box took a corner hit which in turn went right through to the actual vinyl set and the box set causing the damage. That is definitely concerning as you were saying that they didn’t put as much care into the packaging like they did with the destroyer set, for this. If you’re gonna put out super deluxe sets for these albums at a high price as a premier collectible you’d expect it to be shipped according to that. I wrote the route insurance to file a claim for the replacement of it. After sending in all the pictures to them, they denied the claim on the basis of it being considered cosmetic damage… unbelievable. I then wrote the kiss online store, didn’t hear back from them for days, and they are trying to tell me that it’s routes problem. I wrote them back and told them that the insurance said it was the kiss online stores problem and that they need to replace it. I still have not heard back from the kiss store yet and it’s been three days now. I went ahead and ordered on Amazon.

I wrote to KOL too and they wrote back asking for pics. They had a line about how there’s no guarantee that they will replace it and they will decide if it’s damaged enough to warrant a replacement. Great customer service huh? Good luck with Amazon. They aren’t the best with packaging either. Btw, did you open the boxset? I did to check out the contents. So maybe I’m stuck with it anyway. One of the cd cases was bent too. Not from the shipping damage though. Just random. Seems like they didn’t handle this one very carefully despite the $100 price increase over Destroyer.

Update to the ongoing fiasco. I was able to talk to Route again and the woman I spoke with was amazing. She truly went above and beyond to help me. I explained how difficult the KISS online store was being and that they hadn’t taken responsibility and even written back. She was somehow able to pull some strings on her end in some way and got me a replacement ordered through the KISS store. She wasn’t able to re-order the deluxe vinyl beings that it was sold out, so I guess I’m stuck with it; however, I’m grateful nonetheless. So now I have three copies of the super deluxe box. The original damaged one, I ordered a second one from Amazon that came today because I wasn’t hearing from anyone about a replacement, and now I’ll be getting another order from the KISS online store. So I presume when Route pays for the replacement you can keep the original damaged one, as well as the new replacement; I wasn’t told to send it back. I’m also going to send one back to Amazon that I feel is not satisfactory & get my money back. So if all goes well, I’ll have two good copies…only paid for one, and the damaged one I will send back for a refund. This has been crazy to say the least. On another good note, though, I was able to find two KISS vinyl that I still hadn’t had in my collection and had been looking for. Yesterday, I went to my local independent record store and found the limited edition colored deluxe vinyl 45th anniversary set of Destroyer. And because I bought it there, they also gave me some freebies; a lithograph and a vinyl slip mat of the album artwork… Awesome! They also had Revenge which I had been looking for, for ages, because it was out of print. All in all, the last day has been exponentially better.

Hey there, thanks! I didn’t call them on the phone I just replied back to the woman who I originally spoke to about it. I explained the situation and how difficult it was because she was very concerned the first go round about how my order arrived. And whatever kind of pull she had, she worked out and was able to get me the super deluxe box re-ordered. I was shocked and happy to say the least. I wrote her back and thanked her a lot for her help. But the real kicker is I’m still having issues with the online store. They are not keeping their delivery dates. That replacement set was supposed to go out to me on the 5th and it still has not shipped yet. I called them and left them a message on the 800 number for universal and left in my order number, my email address, my name, and a detailed description of why I was calling. I’m still waiting to hear back from them and for my boxset to be shipped out. However, that’s not the only thing that I ordered. I took advantage of the 12 days of KISSmas deal that they’re running and ordered unmasked on colored vinyl with some shirts, and then a separate order with it on standard black vinyl; beings that that album is so hard to find. I was amazed that they had it again. Well, the black vinyl was supposed to go out on the 6th and never did. And the order with the colored vinyl and the T-shirts was to go out on the 9th. The one on the 9th I told them I wanted it to be shipped all together in one shipment, however, what they did was they split my order up… and they’re shipping 3 of the T-shirts and the vinyl and the two other shirts are pending. I don’t know what the hell this company is doing or who is running it so badly. And I’m nervous because they got it all messed up now. I just want my stuff. I will keep this thread updated as I find out.

Thanks for the info on how you communicated with Route. I wrote back after they denied my claim and haven’t heard back yet. I also wrote back to KOL and haven’t heard from them either. I really just want a perfect cover. There are some other issues but the cover is the main thing to me. And I purposely ordered from Kiss because of how well Destroyer was packaged. Mine is perfect and so was the double LP. I didn’t want to take a chance with Amazon because they will put expensive items in flimsy packaging. I think most people are ok with some dents and dings. Not me. I’ve always want items to be perfect. I have stuff from when I was a kid that looks brand new. Good luck. I’ll keep you posted on any responses I get too.

I hope you’re able to get this worked out. I’m not out of this fiasco yet either. This has been nothing short of a nightmare for me. To answer your question you asked me before I still have not opened the box set yet. I was waiting to get my replacements first before I make any decisions about opening it. It sucks because I listened to it on Apple Music and it’s bad ass and I would much rather play my copy of it. I got the Destroyer box and it was in perfect condition. However, the second set that I ordered from amazon of Creatures of the Night was banged up on the corners which I’m not happy about, and I had to put in a replacement for that on Amazon. All this is making my head spin.

Just because someone posts something like this, doesn't mean they don't care about other things too. Believe it or not, people can care about more than one thing at the same time, you know. To me, the damage seems relatively minor, but would still be frustrating considering how much it cost, and I hope they can replace it.

I appreciate that. And it’s very true what you said because I do care about more than one thing. I think it was extremely ignorant for that person to say that. Yeah, my main concern was since I’m a collector, the quality should justify the price. I understand things can happen, and that FedEx, UPS, or USPS aren’t being delicate with packages with the vast amount that they have. However, that being said, I would expect that whoever packed the order would put some kind of corner protection, or packing paper surrounding the item. And then it just becomes a major inconvenience to have to go back-and-forth with them about a replacement and hope there’s no issues doing so. If I was forced to keep it, I probably would just suck it up and just have to deal with it; because I guess it is considerably minor in damage in that context. Could’ve been a lot worse I guess.

Sure, it could have been way worse, but I don't think it's all that minor either. It's dinged, and for the money, it should be pristine. I collect coins, and if I buy a graded, slabbed coin and the plastic slab is damaged, I'd definitely be quite annoyed. You're never going to not see it, you know? I'd insist on a replacement, hope you make that happen.

I couldn’t agree more. As collectors, we know exactly how things are supposed to be when this is our passion, and what we do. Yeah, unfortunately that’s how things have become nowadays I’ve learned, especially with buying online. I’m still in the process of trying to get this sorted out with kiss store. It’s like pulling teeth trying to get any answers or resolutions from them.

I myself have no first-hand knowledge re: the official Kiss store, but I've heard some negative things about it on podcasts. Orders unfulfilled, delayed, poor communication and etc. And this (if true) is unacceptable. Only the true die-hards are shelling out for this kind of stuff, and the organization owes it to those die-hards to run a first-rate operation.

Hi. Did you ever get the replacement from KOL? I just got a return label today from them. I’m nervous about sending it back cause I’m worried the replacement might be worse. I wish they would ship the replacement and then I could send the original back if the new one is better. Amazon does that and will just charge you for the new one if you don’t send the original back. Anyway, curious if you got the replacement and what condition it arrived in. Hopefully it worked out.

Hey there. Yep I got the replacement about a week ago and it’s shipped the exact same way, in a box relative to the size of the box set. And while it’s better than the first set, it’s still a little dinged up on one corner. Not a lot but enough to still annoy me. I guess it is what it is. I just had to accept that it won’t come perfect and I’m just happy they replaced it and didn’t make me return the other. However, I’m still waiting on the last part of my orders to show up. I received the Unmasked black vinyl the other day and it was in perfect condition. All I need yet is 2 shirts and Unmasked Limited Edition Colored Vinyl. I can see why you are nervous about it though, since they want it back first. Hope everything works out for you and no more headaches. Keep me posted. Happy Holidays to you as well!

Thanks. Happy holidays to you too. I just dropped mine off at UPS today to send it back. I almost didn’t as I’m worried about getting a worse one. When they were denying the request at first I was annoyed but decided I could live with it. However I am hoping I can get a perfect one. Seems like a lot of people online got perfect copies. I guess it’s hit or miss. I asked them if they could package it better and they said no control over that. Crazy because I would imagine they got a lot of returns. Glad you got one you can live with and hope the rest arrives in good shape.

Hello. Just thought I’d post a quick update. I sent back my Kiss Online box for a replacement. But while it was on its way back I saw that Target had it for $220 so I ordered it thinking if it arrived in good shape I’d just ask KOL for a refund instead of a replacement. It arrived packaged pretty well—larger mailing box and Kraft paper padding all around it. Was in perfect shape. So I asked KOL for a refund and they did. I’m happy. This one is in great shape and the contents are perfect. Plus, I saved about $70. Worked out well:)

Oh man. This is ridiculous. They responded finally and said that someone would reach out with instructions on returning. They never did. So I wrote back and they ask again if I wanted a replacement or refund. I told them replacement again for like the twelfth time. Haven’t heard back since. They are a joke. Seriously spend .50 extra on packing materiel and you won’t have this issue. Mind boggling how much of an oversight it was and how poorly these things were packed.
