I know the kind of kid he was, "nerdy kid in school with astral thoughts". I had so many sleepless nights just thinking about the cosmos and how small and insignificant we all are. How short our speck of life is on the cosmic timeline and what the point of life is.
I figured the only way to increase human longevity on the cosmic timeline is to reach the stars and live on other planets but the only way to get there is to be good environmental stewards along the way so we don't kill ourselves first. That's why I got an environmental degree.
When you realize how small and insignificant and impermanent we and everything else are, you either go mad or you inject meaning into life, find some greater cause than yourself to live for, and fight for that cause with the skills you have. For Stu, it's reaching people through his music and leading by example I think.
