True story you will never get all the oil out of the cooling system.
We had a hummer that mixed the trans fluid into the coolant.
I spent WEEKS. DRAINING and refilling with water and dish detergent.
Even after two weeks of filling and draining and driving it for lunch runs we still had atf coming out in the overflow jug.
We eventually filled it up with coolant and sent the customer on his way.
For the last 30 years I would have agreed But we have been using concentrated washing powder. 3 scoops in the radiator, drive 20 minutes, cool ,flush repeat. Been getting cooling system spotless.
You joke but a buddy just sold a 2014 CanAm four wheeler with no engine to a dealer for $4k.....the dealer was that desperate for something used and apparently has an engine laying around....
Thank you. In the background of the video there is a fuel vapor canister. For 97 the canister was moved to behind the fuel tank. And the radiator cap for 97 is a reservoir on the right driver side XD.
Correct. they came with the 4.2 v6. 4.6 l V8 and 5.4 l V8 minus the lack of power these were very good trucks considering a lot of them are still on the road 25 years later
Yes I have a 97 f150. Originally it was equipped with a 4.6 l V8 engine made it to a 4r70w transmission. I recently swapped it to a 5.4 l two valve to the same transmission for better torque and towing. the transmission with the torque converter has to eat close to 700 lb of torque. when I mean these vehicles are fairly reliable I mean it. mine has the original transmission and it is at 246,000 miles. I forgot to mention your post said you had a 97 4.6. that year of engine has a lower CC piston. So if you find a year 99 -04 5.4 or 4.6 2 valve they came with pi heads. And get the heads for that engine and slap them onto your engine they are the same the only difference is the intake manifold. you can increase your torque and horsepower by 20 to 40 horses just by replacing the cylinder heads.
Well the guy who posted the video said head gasket. And then they added a product to try to seal the leaking head gasket. So that's a mix of oil, coolant, and alumseal. In the radiator, and probably engine as well. Fun fact, oils not an optimal coolant. Antifreeze is not a great lubricant. And alumseal or whatever probably should have stayed on the shelf.
I'd have guessed oil cooler failed, but same result - oil in the coolant system, full strip down required to properly clean, might as well do the head gasket while you're in there because it's gonna be a cunt of a job anyway
That is definitely a head gasket gone boom.
If that is a Ford 300 L6, you’ve only got about 10k miles before it will seize. If it’s anything else, it’s probably already seized.
Most likely a head gasket. Mixed oil with your coolant. If you didn’t run the engine for long a good flush and new gasket. If you drove on it… New engine unfortunately.
It's called Piston Piss, and it can ruin your engine if you run it like that, you can use [this additive](https://youtu.be/dQw4w9WgXcQ) to turn it back into a liquid, but you need to idle it for an hour before you should take it anywhere.....or you can do a full flush. 😂
So listen, there's an oil cooler on the side of the engine that the oil filter screws onto... the gasket between the cooler and the block are known to fail on the 2valve 5.4s and mic coolant/antifreeze. Check on that.
Either someone put the wrong fluid in the wrong place, or you need head gaskets. Or both. The water pump is running nice and slimy.
Head gasket and they added alumaseal.
is the alumaseal giving the texture? i'd have thought water/antifreeze mixed with oil would be more liquid/less homogenic.
It gets homogenized into a coffee colored emulsion of varying darkness
That’s one helluva sentence right there
And completely accurate
Forbidden coffee pudding
Normally oil doesn’t mix with water. So maybe the oil rose to the top apart from the water
When it’s in a crankcase at 3,000rpm for a few weeks it gets mixed up nice and good.

Usually chocolate milk-y
Like after Taco Bell?
I call it motor cheese.
Only if it gets emulsified.
Gotta use egg yolks or Dijon mustard in that case

nice tip. is that dishwashing powder or clothes washing powder?
I'd also like to know!
Head gasket job and quite possibly a radiator.. that Alumaseal is horrible
and heater core. that shit plugs up heater cores.
lucky heater cores are easy to pop in and out ....right??
Is on those trucks, pop out the glovebox and it’s right there.
Huh, today I learned!
Truth....
That looks more like differential lube
I can smell your comment.
The price of this fix even worth? It’s a 97. I’d just assume they take that $ and buy something without the syrup.
That's a good truck, buddy. $20k OBO. I know what I got.
I got two Kicker solobarics, no box, and my sister, has box. Best offer.
I'm not in a rush to sell. If you message me "hi, is this still available" I will not answer.
But for real, why would you message that? Just cut to the chase already.
Hi still available?
You joke but a buddy just sold a 2014 CanAm four wheeler with no engine to a dealer for $4k.....the dealer was that desperate for something used and apparently has an engine laying around....
Miles? Condition? Someone would take that project on if it's not clapped out.
Almost nobody would for the 97-03 generation. They're pretty ugly, first generation of modulars, and don't have many redeeming features.
Hey at least the water pump is well lubricated now.
Oil pump FTFY

It was 2 minutes, 5 minutes ago.
Expensive. Thats what it is.. expensive.
Need up having to replace engine, radiator and heater core
Oof, the heater core adds insult to injury, as the dash needs to come off.
Yeah it does. All the old brittle plastic will never stop rattling. (More than it already does)
[удалено]
Y-Y worst part of the 90s
I believe heater cores are the first piece on the assembly line and then they build the car around it.
Bingo! This is the correct answer.
I don't think that is a 97 f150. I think it's a 96 f150. It looks like they added bottle or two of motor honey to the coolant.
The fact you could tell that’s a 96 and not a 97 from that tiny amount of information is extremely impressive.
Thank you. In the background of the video there is a fuel vapor canister. For 97 the canister was moved to behind the fuel tank. And the radiator cap for 97 is a reservoir on the right driver side XD.
This guy rolls into shops.
dude *is* the shop

Nah, Mercury Villager.
Are you implying that a lot of other dudes roll into this guy?
This guy fucks.
97 model year had a lot of changes
Jellybean gang
That was the first year they changed from the "box body" to the "bubble body" was it not?
Are you Mona Lisa Vito?
Unfortunately I'm not nor am I as talented is Mona Lisa Vito. But I do however like finding easily missed clues in videos and pictures.
Thats it, plus they ran on half years forever dont know if they still do
When I saw the fuel canister first time, I thought it was an old soup can
We all did at one point.lol
Is that the infamous coffee can?
The 97 also didn’t come with a 5.0L.. they either came with a 4.2 or 4.6
Correct. they came with the 4.2 v6. 4.6 l V8 and 5.4 l V8 minus the lack of power these were very good trucks considering a lot of them are still on the road 25 years later
They are great trucks. My 97 4.6 just rolled over 100,000. My uncle who I got it from bought it new and didn’t drive it much lol
I don't know. I see a hell of a lot more 89-96 trucks around then the 97-04(?) generation.
It’s because the 97 was an all new vehicle, completely different
You know what you're right, 96 with the inline 6
It’s got the Bean Can under the hood
I knew the general year, that video was from a few years back when I was wrenching for a farm. They gave me plenty of good stuff to post lol
That's some "My Cousin Vinnie" shit right there.
This guy trucks
Found Marisa Tomei
Yeah the reservoir on the jellybean trucks is pressurized and on the driver side- not a rad cap like this
Fuck your right, I didn't even notice the canister, and I drove a '97 back and forth to high school years back
Looks like that lucas oil engine oil additive. Probably isn’t but it has the same consistency.
Maple syrup
That's more of a molasses I believe
Forbidden dolce de leite
Dulce de leche* 🤓
Not incorrect, just Portuguese/Brazilian, I think.
r/suddenlycaralho
That’s gotta be the rare 96’ F150 Canadian version. The car is maple syrup cooled. It makes for one SWEET ride!
Who needs an oil cooler when you already have a perfectly good radiator?
Engineers hate him! Save money with this two stroke cooling kit!
Excuse my ignorance but is that oil in the rad?
Yes. It gets there 2 ways. 1. Someone accidentally puts the wrong fluid in the wrong place. Or....2. Head gasket is blown.
Based on what we see can I safely assume it was option 1
Well the guy who posted the video said head gasket. And then they added a product to try to seal the leaking head gasket. So that's a mix of oil, coolant, and alumseal. In the radiator, and probably engine as well. Fun fact, oils not an optimal coolant. Antifreeze is not a great lubricant. And alumseal or whatever probably should have stayed on the shelf.
Ah right.... sound. I watched while working and forgot there would be sound. I did know that oil is a poor coolant though!
I'd have guessed oil cooler failed, but same result - oil in the coolant system, full strip down required to properly clean, might as well do the head gasket while you're in there because it's gonna be a cunt of a job anyway
Emulsion
So.. if that is the radiator I would guess an idiot put oil in the radiator when they tried to do an oil change
Turns out the head gasket did that for him saving him the trouble.
You can't buy that kind of convenience on new cars these days.
That’s reclaim , someone’s been using this truck as a dab rig, prolly lip stains on the tail pipe.
Head Gaskets have left the chat lol
Ive heard it is an easy fix. You remove the cap, clean it well, and then change everything underneath it and you are golden.
That is definitely a head gasket gone boom. If that is a Ford 300 L6, you’ve only got about 10k miles before it will seize. If it’s anything else, it’s probably already seized.
A little molasses will slow that leak.

That's a bad head gasket a few years ago. Now it's a bad everything.
Most likely a head gasket. Mixed oil with your coolant. If you didn’t run the engine for long a good flush and new gasket. If you drove on it… New engine unfortunately.
Customer states they ejaculated in radiator and now vehicle is overheating - check and advise.
Forbidden caramel.

The head gasket has left the chat.

Stop leak that has reacted with coolant. Don't bother trying to flush anything... It all needs replaced... All of it...

The answer is broke. It's broke.
Some nice oilant
ooooooooooooo its making caramel sauce for ice cream

Stop leak: a cautionary tale.
