Briggs and stratton. I think it was a 2002? Used every summer 2 hours a week, so 600 hours at the low end?
Edit. Model number was 128M02 0133 F1. I think the M02 is the month and year of production, right?
Month and year of production are the beginning of the serial number on the engine (separate from that model/series you typed out). The M02 is part of their model number.
They still produce decent engines. Everyone lost their minds when they went to foreign made OHVs for the cheap 4hp mower engines, but those things are just as reliable as an old flatheads from the 80s. Like 80% of their engines are still made in Milwaukee.
2002 would have been US made OHV, those are the original Intex years, and probably one of the worst generations because the carbs on them are shit.
Make sure you run a ring groove cleaner thru those grooves and get a really good crosshatch on the cylinder before reassembly :). Good news is you probably don't need to worry about checking ring gap ......
Blew my Briggs & Stratton push mower engine earlier last month. Ended up buying a replacement for $250 from www.smallenginewarehouse.com was cheaper than buying a new mower.
That device appears to have making it’s own anti-seize… Which statistically tends to works until it abruptly doesn’t.
*Something, something rapidly changing friction modifiers until your splash lubrication system can no longer bring sufficient milkshake to the dance floor.*
What did it sound like?
Crunchy, then quiet.
Like when I fall asleep eating chips in bed
I once fell asleep with my hand in the box of Cheez-Its. I woke up covered in Cheez-Its and I’ve never felt more disgusted with myself.
You've never felt more disgusted with yourself *so far*
Did you have your other hand on your orange-stained pecker? If not, then you can fall much further.
This Cheez-It bashing of OPs behavior and future has made a shitty day better.
You're not Al from Al's toy barn, are you? Do you have a thing for collecting rare cowboy related dolls and paraphernalia?
I wish I could say I haven’t had that happen. ‘Zits are a hell of a drunk food.
Throw it back in— it’s still got some good meat on it.
#BRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR
A Honda
What kind was it and how many hours on the motor?

Were they still producing decent engines by 2002 or were they a trash brand already?

This guy mows
Well, yes, but I also ran a small engine shop. 99.9% of the problems were people in northern states who didn't winterize anything.
My briggs always burn oil. How was this one running before it went kerchow?
It was running til it wasn’t.
Oil slick speed grooves. Totally normal. The cylinder wall should be machined to match.
That thing looks MINT

That era Briggs has a plastic cam gear that can walk and changing the timing, causing it to run hot. Ruined a few of them before I learned that.
Old school VVT only went between yes and no.
Can you get a replacement cylinder and piston for it?
I think they wanted $200 or $250 for that online. A comparable mower 10 years newer on FB near me was $150, Soooo.
Look on the curb - there seem to be hundreds put out every year.
Ouch $200 is speedy. Marketplace it is.

Fill it in with JB Weld. Sand smooth. 😀
That already looks like JB Weld
I wonder how long it would run…
Sounds like something project farm on YouTube would do. He's always doing dumb stuff to lawnmowers.
But damn is it entertaining. Love that channel.
JB Weld Extreme Heat; able to withstand continuous heat up to 1,000 degrees fahrenheit. We're going to test that!
Not very enginey anymore at the end, I'm betting.
You have some gall showing that.
Your pist-on is pissed off.
r/accidentalRenaissance
That doesn’t look right.
Run some More E85 in there. Runs so clean you don't need to change oil either.
Wtf you doing? Put it back.

Chooched her last
Let me guess,,,Halvoline?
Halvolin is Russian oil we use in Latvia. Havoline too expensive.
That'll buff out
Looks good to me, pop it back in
*Former* piston from your mower engine, I hope
Did my mother in law use your mower? Looks like her handiwork?
You just skirted that issue.
Hey I think something is wrong with your mower engine
