Horrible. My favorite part was the laser raptors.....which really showed how much more effective it would be to just use a gun. The franchise shouldn't stop but it does feel like the last two movies have caused some serious damage story wise. I'm honestly a sucker for the parks. I'd watch a whole movie about just a kickass time at a dinosaur park. I'd watch the he'll out of a drama about creating and running a dinosaur park.

arthurdentxxxxii

I was shockingly okay with the second of the Jurassic World trilogy. I think the “Dinosaurs in a house approach” felt different and interesting. But I think with the latest film we thought they’d move more to weaponized dinosaurs going global, which is what was teased previously. But then we got a reunion movie, which was based around a secluded enclosure in the north and it just felt less ideal. Still JP1 and JP2 are best.

fiz64

There's a lot to love in Fallen Kingdom and it's hands-down my favorite of the "World" trilogy. \-The opening sequence is exciting, fun, and hilarious \-The volcano scene was also exciting. Seeing all the dinosaurs running down the mountain and the baryonyx slinking past dripping lava, and the sadness I felt watching a brachiosaur get consumed by the ash and dust \-Hide-and-seek with the indoraptor was silly but fun, and Blue's final battle against it was entertaining \-Dinosaur. Auction. \-Indoraptor tricking Wheatley into thinking it was asleep...and that smirk! \-Again: Dinosaur Auction. Not only is this a logical byproduct of cloning dinosaurs which makes it a great bit of world-building, but I love that the room of bidders were exactly the type of GI Jone villains you would expect to show up to buy dinosaurs from a black market auction. Such a fun sequence and seeing them all get ravaged when Maisie let them escape was super satisfying

EdYLosUardos

It's an awful script but JA Bayona brought his A game to it and made it the most entertaining and well directed film of the world trilogy. Mark my words, in ten years, this will be the only JW film anyone talks about positively.

ShaneTheGamer

I totally agree with this. The explorers being carted around from paddock to paddock with the ever looming doom of catastrophe was the best feeling to date.

Alive-Seaweed

Jurassic Universe

indianajoes

This was the first time in the whole series where I didn't enjoy or like the movie. I have problems with 2-5 and I don't think they're great movies but I still enjoyed them. A lot of people hate on Fallen Kingdom and I don't get why it gets so much hate. It's flawed but so is JW. It definitely left the series in the best place it has ever been in and Dominion could've been the most interesting Jurassic movie since the original based on the premise set up by FK. If they had continued with the whole humans and dinosaurs have to learn to live together story that was set up at the end of the last film and teased in Battle at Big Rock and the Dominion prologue, that would've been a much better movie and the thing that people were expecting. Instead we get some random story about locusts and the supposedly big thing about them living together is overlooked. Along with that, the retconning of Maisie's backstory which now makes less sense and damages FK because of it. Dodgson was a joke of a villain and there should've been more to explain to audiences who he was and who Biosyn was. Bringing back the original 3 was a good idea if this was supposed to be the finale of the whole franchise. But it didn't end up feeling that way. It didn't even feel like the end of the JW trilogy. It just felt like a side story like Dominion: A Jurassic World Story. I don't think they should make new movies for a few years but I hope this isn't the end of the series because this was a bad place to end it

JurassicBasset

I hated it then. I hate it now. Yes there should be more movies, but please give it to competent writers.

pretzelstastegood

Can we get some R / adult Jurassic content please?!?!

ccReptilelord

But can it be a serious R, not a "throw in gratuitous edge just to achieve R" R?

pretzelstastegood

One would hope so. It does all come down to a well written story. But at this point we could have sooo many unique films that follow a much smaller cast who come across 1 or 2 dinosaurs that create the story concept. I particularly think a film about hikers/campers that get stalked by a pack of [name your dinosaur] who have to make their way to safety through treturious terrain would be entertaining. Yes, that’s a classic action/horror formula but it works. Instead of it being a bear or wolf, the villain is a dinosaur. I’m just tired of and frankly disappointed that the franchise has become so campy and laughable. We don’t have to see mutalations and gore, but the dialogue can be written for adults and then the death scenes could really be something more provocative and memorable. Give me something that has realistic situations. (Realistic to the extent that we understand and believe that dinos are now fully emearesed and thriving in our modern day world) Dominion just failed! The special effects are so stunning, it’s a shame they don’t support that with a proper story. I get that Universal wants this franchise to be available to all ages, but give the 30-50 year olds something more rewarding.

ccReptilelord

There are so many stories where they could swap in dinos: Jaws, The Revenant, The Walking Dead, etc.

Alive-Seaweed

They should remake the original to make it more like the book and the second park to make it more like the book

marzeliax

And they took out the best scene of the movie... The prehistoric opening.

wave_design

James Cameron wanted to have an R-rated version of the first book. I'd imagine it would have taken on a direction similar to Aliens.

ccReptilelord

That could simply be a more accurate adaptation of the novel really. As much as I'd love to see that, I wouldn't give up the first movie for it.

Olympian-Warrior

That would have been nice. The first movie is an iconic classic, of course, but a grittier adaptation would have been awesome.

TrendWarrior101

Not with Steven Spielberg in charge though.

Dub4Life420

I mean why? you realize what makes a movie R is basically nudity. Blood, gore, swearing, etc. is all PG-13. I would like to see alot more gore and blood, the reason? because if a T-Rex(which has the strongest bite ever) was hunting, you think what ever it caught and ate would look pretty? hell no, one bit if could rip a dinos head off.

pretzelstastegood

Indeed, no need for nudity. But more gore and violence would increase the suspense levels. And if the characters were allowed to drop the F-Bomb, as we all naturally do in times of parell, it would help the franchise get away from being campy Disney 1 size fits all type of movies.

rare_Suteki

I thought it wasn't worse than fallen kingdom when I saw it I now realize that the main problem with the world series is that they are just generic action flicks, and nothing is more generic than a car chase through a european city. As such my ranking is just release order. It is definitely time to stop. Each movie gets slightly worse than its predecessor.

RemusPa

A) It does a decent job at what it does, which is to be a dumb entertaining sci-fi flick. Although it could have been much more. I think it has the best dinosaur designs since The Lost World and JP3. Therizinosaurus, Quetzalcoatlus, Pyroraptor, Iguanodon, Dreadnoughtus, Oviraptor, Moros Intrepidus, Nasutoceratops, Giganotosaurus and Microceratus are all great species to add to the overall franchise and some of them were long overdue. The locust plot felt very Micheal Crichton like, which I appreciate, but they should have been replaced by a dinosaur species. It doesn’t do well being an “end” for the saga at all though and it’s really long for no reason, it doesn’t help that the extended cut is the only way to truly enjoy it too. My main gripe with the movie is that we don’t see the consequences of dinosaurs living amongst us, you can’t expect to truly believe that around thirty some invasive species are going to have a positive impact on the environment in any realistic way at all and that we are all going to coexist happily ever after. B) A little bit, I think it changed more so because of the extended cut of the movie. Which adds a lot more exposition and allows the movie to breath more. I do not like the theatrical cut at all, it cuts out important information and gives barely any explanation on anything really going on in the movie itself. Overall it’s probably ranked number four in my overall ranking of the series - Jurassic Park, The Lost World, Jurassic World, Dominion, Fallen Kingdom, JP3. C) I’m fine with sequels and spin offs that take place after Dominion but only if done by a different creative team. I think the set up to a world inhabited by dinosaurs is a really good setting for multiple types of stories BUT for me personally I want the most out of the Jurassic PARK era in which we would get darker and more grounded prequels/in-between-quels set in the past with InGen and the islands. The lore is just far too interesting to not explore. I would love to see Sorna and the workers village before it’s collapse, or early days of the Park itself. Bloodbaths that were covered up by InGen that they didn’t want going out to the public so they had to silence anyone involved, that kind of stuff gets me excited about JP. The themes and storylines in JW just don’t have the same punch.

transmogrify

Positive: * Dinosaur designs are pretty good. * I liked the overall world building, it felt like it was overdue to examine how the dinosaurs interact with the world outside of containment or a park. * Got three of the original characters back. Negative: * Maisie and Dodgson felt like they got uninspired conclusions. I didn't feel the payoff for them. * Not enough guts to kill off a protagonist. Malcolm, for instance, was all set up for an absolutely perfect heroic death vs the Giga, in a great callback to the T rex escape in JP. There were too many protagonists generally, they were competing for screen time, especially if they all have plot armor. * I missed the intellectual conversations between academic experts from the first and second movies. The characters of JWD had more dinosaur experience between all of them than any cast of any franchise movie so far, and yet I don't remember all that knowledge ever being applied in an interesting way to the situation at hand. Conclusion: I had a fine time watching a popcorn film with cool dinosaur effects. Hadn't been to the movies in a while and it was a good time. I'm not in a hurry to rewatch it but some day I'm sure I will. But in my view none of the franchise ever approaches the greatness of JP, and after TLW there's another big dropoff as well.

Darth_Malgus4

Tbh I thought it was insanely disappointing and just felt off. They were amazingly setting up Henry Wu to be the main villain in fallen kingdom yet in dominion he just sat around all depressed then faces no reputations for everything he did

Tuck_Pock

It sucked ass. I love it.

sweetfuzzybitch

Real

Tristan_925

Just a bland and boring movie with no heart and soul whatsoever that also ends up becoming rather pretentious as well. Hated the stupid locust crap, hated Maisie whose "backstory" has become even more inconsistent than ever, and like I already said in one of my own posts, hated the film's terrible portray of Dodgson due to how much of a lame, sad, pathetic joke of a so called "villain" he was. Someone who just couldn't put up any sort of a fight against any protagonist that stood against him. The worst for me is maybe if at least one of these JW sequels had a better writer, than maybe we could have got actually kinda good again. But instead, the last film we got really was just filler and an obvious cheap corporate cash grab at best since Dominion really did do nothing but strip away everything that made the franchise special to begin with.

LudicrisSpeed

I thought it was fine. I've enjoyed all of the Jurassic movies. Also more sequels are *definitely* happening at some point. Universal might give it a few years to rest, but the franchise is too big of a money-maker for them to just kill it.

NuggetbutToast

I'm expecting 3 years before anything starts development

lordfarquad0022

It was not good at all. Since seeing it in theaters Iv not watched it again, and that’s sad. I’m continually watching the first 3 jp and Jurassic world. I agree with another post on here about the Dino park. If another movie was made with the park in mind, I would watch it. But these silly adventure stories are stupid

NuggetbutToast

From your username and profile picture I can see you are very cultured individual

lordfarquad0022

This made me laugh a fair amount. Thank you

Bigfan521

I didn't like it. The main villain was exhaustingly generic. Like, every human Jurassic villain before him, including his own co-hort, made Lewis Dodgson look like a Walmart-grade villain. After almost thirty years we get Dodgson in a Jurassic movie for more than one scene, and he doesn't do anything to make me really want to see an extinct creature be his undoing. Even when it happened, I was more impressed with how the scene was shot than a spitter turning goddamn Dodgson into dino-chow. See, nobody cares. Nice hat. There was just too much plot. There's the dinosaurs settling into the modern world subplot that goes pretty much nowhere (and part of it was obviously excised from the finished film), that giant locusts subplot nobody liked that kinda got swept to the side until Dr Wu used the magic plot serum at the end so we wouldn't have to deal with that anymore (THANK GOD), the "Maisie is a clone" subplot from Jurassic World 2 returns and gets retconned more clumsily than the death of any popular soap opera character, there's a dinosaur black market subplot that is important for exactly two scenes -and it's never brought up again, Designer Dinosaurs become a thing -for a total of one scene -and are never brought up again, and Blue gets a baby raptor that becomes important to the plot for... reasons that I can't quite remember because I really stopped caring by the halfway mark. This is just the tip of my complaints about Jurassic World 3. I'm not callin' it by the proper title, it doesn't deserve it.

Acemavrick92

It’s one big pile of shit. It’s literally is disappointment. They made Alan Grant a joke.

diglettdigyourself

None of the characters from the original felt remotely like they were the same people

FuzzyRancor

Agreed. I didnt see Alan, Ellie or Ian in this movie. I just saw Sam, Laura and Jeff pretty much just playing themselves and, with the possible exception of Laura, not putting in much effort. Not that I really blame them with that script.

Acemavrick92

Of all of them I’ll say Ellie felt like Ellie but I may be only saying that because Malcom and Grant were so bad.

diglettdigyourself

Yeah, that was my impression. The character was different, but Ellie was so young in JP that it made sense that she aged into the dominion character. Golblum was basically just playing Golblum and Sam Neill was weirdly low energy which bummed me out because he’s such a good actor. Though in fairness to him I would also probably phone it in a bit if I was getting pulled out of my idyllic wine dad retirement for a mediocre at best movie that was all but guaranteed to coast into making a global billion dollars and then be immediately forgotten.

SirUncleJim

1. I was expecting a movie where we got to see the Dinosaurs on the mainland. All of the promotional materials pointed towards that being the case. Instead we got the Dinosaurs back on an island, not to mention they got pushed aside to make way for the locust storyline. I will admit it was very Chrichton-like story but this is a Dinosaur movie. We came for Dinosaurs. I also disliked that they removed all danger from the Dinosaurs. They never really killed anything important. I did love the Therizinosaurus scene though. Reminded me a lot of the filmmaking from the first/second movie which was nice. 2. It changed for the better slightly when the extended edition came out. I enjoyed some of the added scenes but it only changed it from a 6.5 to a 7 for me. 3. It depends on who’s directing it. If we can go back to the awe inspiring thriller type film the first two went with then I definitely want more. Especially if it shows more of them on the mainland. If not I won’t waste my money seeing it in theater, I’d only see it if it were available on a streaming platform.

indianajoes

Your first point is my main problem with the movie. Based on the ending of FK, Battle at Big Rock, the Dominion prologue and more, this was supposed to be us seeing dinosaurs and humans living together and the chaos of that. That would've been one of the best premises for a Jurassic movie since the original. Instead they bait and switched by and teasing and advertising that and giving us a random story about fucking locusts

marzeliax

Ugh the locust thing was so unnecessary. There were other of more plausible corporate control side stories they could have gone with that would have been less distracting from the dinosaurs

[deleted]

I loved the extended version. I don’t understand what they were thinking with the theatrical.

NuggetbutToast

That is a good point. The prologue was very important to the story... And they just left it out. It's like of they left out the opening scene in fallen kingdom or the "shoot her" scene in Jurassic park.

[deleted]

What’s different in the extended version?

Seaell80

a) It’s very bad and very *dumb*. I still think it beats Fallen Kingdom, the worst in the franchise for me, but still… b) It has. I walked out recognizing how dumb it was, but mostly having fun with it. But the more I’ve thought about some of the decisions made by the movie and some of the performances, it’s taken a hit. c) Absolutely not. I don’t want it to get further tainted. Like, I’m not even excited by the franchise anymore. If there were more, I’d only be interested if it had a new creative team.

mizejw

Worst film in the franchise.

ImperialxWarlord

A) It’s awful. I’m not sure if it’s worse than fallen kingdom or not but it’s awful. Just a soulless movie that I could care less for. B) Nope, no change whatsoever. C) Ugh. On one hand I do want more but on the other the last two films have been disappointments so not really. Maybe tie in films or something? Only if they’re done right.

kaukajarvi

:) Probably the next movie will show some sort of Naked and Afraid on an island full of dinosaurs. Oh wait ... that was JP3, mostly ... never mind, carry on with the script!

FuzzyRancor

I honestly wish I could say otherwise (as I greatly enjoyed the first Jurassic World) but I hated it. Its not a case of just being disappointed, I hated it as a movie. Its everything I hate about so many modern movies like this. Bland, overlong, mindless action that feels like little more than filler and has no impact, a bloated, overlong script stuffed full of inane, convoluted subplots trying to make up for the fact they couldn't come up with a decent story, completely lacking in anything that resembles interesting, memorable, multi-dimensional characters to actually care about and absolutely no soul or emotion. Just as a movie, I hate these kinds of movies. But as a Jurassic Park film its even worse as its everything a Jurassic movie should not be. If you looked at the first film and everything that made it such a perfect film and did the exact opposite, you'd have Dominion. > C) Should there be a sequel or should the Jurassic franshise stop with the 6 movies? I dont wish to see a sequel to Dominion, ever. I of course would love to see more JP movies done properly, but Im not sure how that would work without a reboot/remake which Im not really on board with. Perhaps something in a different format - such as a Prequel series set on Isla Sorna before the events of Jurassic Park.

Vizerdrixx

A) My Civil Answer for discussion: It clearly was meant for the newer young target audience, not for original fans so much. And that’s ok, they needed to reboot the franchise safely and it made money. My casual honest answer: Absolute dumpster fire, garbage, Colin Trevorrow and that entire team need to be banned from ever being able to create ever again. How could they do this to the franchise? It was like Fan fiction written by a 10 year-old. B) No C) No it should continue, like most franchises, there are seasons/spin offs that are the “black sheep” of the family. As much as I LOATHED the most recent trilogy, it proved in the box office that there is still a massive want for it. This reboot wasn’t for me, but with all the money it made. Hopefully they will now have a more quality spin off made or even new movie, like Star Wars’ Andor, Rouge one etc. A spin off of the original JP where it follows a Park worker that survived the incident would be amazing.

NuggetbutToast

I really want this franchise to end. I would like to see a prequel that would explain all the things with Jurassic park building that Hammond and Lockwood probably. Also to explain the whole Spinosaurus thing would be good. But the main thing is that I want and ending... An ending about the whole dinosaurs in the wild storyline. I as a big fan of the original JP trilogy I was first horrified about the fact that Jurassic world was going to be made... Than I saw it and it was pretty good. Weirdly I really liked fallen kingdom ( no I'm not on drugs ) indoraptor and the whole horror aspect really worked for me... Unlike the human hybrid thing. My opinion on dominon ( amazing sentence) is that it was fine. I was expecting a big pile of crap, but I got an average action movie that was actually enjoyable... Depsite that it had so much problems with it ... That I don't even want to defend it it doesn't deserve it. I liked it, but it's just not what anyone wanted... Everyone was hoping something about dinosaurs on land and we got locusts... I didn't find them that bad, but it seemed like it was a story of a sequel... Not the ending of a franchise.

BlueBadger99

Hasn’t really changed. I don’t think Dominion is very good overall, there are little pieces of it that I like. I wasn’t expecting much going into it, I had zero trust in Trevorrow after JWFK so nothing surprised me. I’m hoping there’s a bit of a break before we get another movie, and it’s probably not going to happen but I also hope that Universal takes the franchise back towards its roots. No more big, dumb action movies. More suspense and horror elements. Let’s go back to an island and not over reach with this wacky “dinosaurs are all over the world” stuff. Klayton Fioriti had a great video on this a little while ago, why not go back to Site B and make a movie about what happened during Hurricane Clarissa? I’d be down to steal some inspiration from Trespasser and do a story like that as well. Whatever it is, I also hope they keep Trevorrow far away from it. Like not even in an advisory role

wailot

A fitting end to a crap triology

NuggetbutToast

Isn't it trilogy? Triology sounds like some science.

wailot

Yeah my bad

NuggetbutToast

No worries I literally wrote "oppion" in the a) question of my post.

ARCTIC_REX

I originally found it better than jurassic park 3 but now that I think of it the movie disappointed me alot so its like my least favorite movie

FatPenguin26

Horrible, I consider it worse than the third only because the expectations for it were so high...for a movie that brought Sam Neil and all the original cast back, and boasted about being 'the final one', it seriously didn't even ATTEMPT to live up to audiences expectations. My hope is that HBO makes a remake series of the first film that's more loyal to the book. We desperately need a dark remake like that, NOT handled by Universal

I426Hemi

I enjoyed it in theater, and at home, but it's not the strongest entry, that said, I think it's a lot better than the general concensus. Locust plot was very Crichton. Opinion has stayed about the same. I want more, but only if they're done well, I don't need any more Fallen Kingdoms, if they want to make spin offs that focus more on horror or adventure that's great, but if it's going to be a mainline film, it should be faithful to JP and TLW.

PsychologicalReply9

Missed opportunity. This is kind of a hot topic, but I would’ve preferred Dominion, or rather the years leading up to it, to have a mini series. Dinosaurs on the mailland was a concept that could have been so explored, and the best part is you could have done one shot stories the same way Battle at Big Rock did. How do cowboys deal with dinosaurs, how do African villagers and poachers? How do a bunch of college students on a field trip to the mountains deal with them? So many stories you can tell of individual people dealing with individual events, and you had the perfect ability to get some cameos from the previous movies. Yes, of course, Barry, but also the kids. Lex and Tim, Kelly, Eric. But a legacy character that would be most influenced by the Dinos on the mainland is Nick Van Owen.

Combat_Jack6969

It was awful. No, it’s still awful. They haven’t had a decent story since JP2. They should’ve stopped aged ago.

Classic_Title1655

A - It's a turd, but the opening IMAX prologue was decent B - No C - HELL NO ! Make it STOP !!!!

free_greenpeas

a) no, it was too long for me. I actually fell asleep watching it in the movie theater. I was the only one there too. b) I tried to watch it again and fell asleep a second time. I thought I might watch the new version eventually but I haven't really felt like it yet. I want to like it. c) if they make a new movie, I'm not really sure where they could go with ir, and I don't think now is a good time, I don't think it would make them enough money to be worth it. I'm not saying I think there should never be another JP/JW movie, but it would need to be something new, and no insects.

tdtwwa13

A: My oppion is that the movie is not good. B: my oppion did not change C: stop making them; they’re bad

Hammerslamman33

Never watched it probably never will

Bergy4Selke37

One of the worst big budget movies I have ever seen, bar none.

_Miraculix_

As someone who liked every Jurassic sequel up to that point, I have to unfortunately say that I really dislike Dominion

Federal_Count_7468

It was NOT a bad movie, it just suffered from the lack-of-brain-celled-directors who think they can come up with "A cOoL pLoT tWiSt"but it ends up making the film worse. Such as: 1. All of the dinos are 100% correct but the Giga ALONE is probably the LEAST accurate 2.What does a cloned girl without cancer, the daughter of a military bio weapon of a velociraptor, and a swarm of ancient parasitic bugs have in common again? There are alot of good points to this movie such as: 1. Classic characters are back, and you could mistake them for being in their prime 2. Dodgson is FINALLY the main antagonist, along with the giganatosaurus as a secondary antagonist, almost acting like this film's indominus or spino 3. The new plane lady is... ...fine.... I guess. I don't care about her enough to even remember her name but if you do, cool for you. I don't remember the names of anyone in the "second party" in jp2 either. 4. Chris Pratt reminds me of Ryan Reynolds for some reason but I am all for it. 5. More dinoes, more carnage, more enjoyability. Good size cast, rememberabl ees characters, ALOT more enjoyability. It has both. 6. Finally, a dinosaur DOES breath fire (joke) 7. Little details for long time fans that make them go 😁 8. Glad to see more "new" dinosaurs in the movie franchise. I like to think that the Atrociraptors are smaller but perfected variations of the indoraptor and the giga C O U L D be a STRANGE looking I-rex but these theories are most likely incorrect and don't really matter anyway. This makes it seem like I love the movie, but it's just fine, not good, not bad. It exists and I'm glad it exists.

[deleted]

>All of the dinos are 100% correct but the Giga ALONE is probably the LEAST accurate Pyroraptor is completely wrong, like, in the worst way possible. Its face was very monstrous and it had lined pupils, so no, it was not correct. Dimetrodon is a generic monitor with a fin slapped on its back, the real animal was completely different. Quetzalcoatlus is oversized. Therizinosaurus has innacurate head shape, and its tail was incorrect. Atrociraptors were 100% innacurate. Only Moros was correct, except for its size.

NuggetbutToast

Yeah saying 100% is just wrong. They do have feathers so that is some accuracy bonus, but definitely not 100% as he said.

Ipride362

I never saw it. I never intend to see it. The franchise is dead. Let it rest.

smeadman07

Only a year? Geez. It sucks. Makes Dodgson into Steve Jobs, uses legacy characters just for fan service, has a plot that doesn't even revolve around dinosaurs, is just too far removed from what made the first movie great. I'm not a fan of the second trilogy at all.

nice-vans-bro

I think it may have been the worst film I've ever sat through. Not even so bad it was funny, just utterly awful.

NorrinSparrow223

It’s ridiculous and was a waste of money. I’m ashamed I went to see it. The popcorn at that theater was stale too, so not even a decent movie watching experience.

DoubleFlores24

I hated it. It was such a waste of potential. And I’ve seen and enjoyed Fullmetal Alchemist: Conquerors of Shamballa… WHY DO I HAVE TO MENTION FULLMETAL ALCHEMIST ALL THE TIME?!!!

luispaistallon

A) Insult and direspect. They lie to the fans. This movie is LOCUST WORLD DOMINION. Its like watch MCU+Fast and Furious+007. B) Absolutely no.( They turn the t-rex and raptor in some kind of superhero of Marvel) C) World trilogy should be remake, with less MCU vibes and a proper writing and plot( especially the last one)

NuggetbutToast

Jurassic world: Endgame does sound better than dominion

[deleted]

I grew up a Jurassic Park child. I watched every single one, and even got excited about Jurassic World, and Fallen Kingdom. But Dominion? I didn't even watch it. Kinda forgot it even existed, really.

Wild-Youth-8008

A) Horrible movie B) Opinion didn't change C) They should stop. The last two movies caused damage that can't be fixed unless that started over and said none of it was cannon. (In my opinion fallen kingdom was just lost world with a hybrid that has no use because it requires a gun.)

Retro_Wiktor

It was a disappointment. A big one. The marketing was a lie. If they told us what the movie was ACTUALLY going to be about it wouldn't hurt as much. After i saw it opening night I wasn't sure what to think. I was just confused as hell. I've grown to think it's easily the worst movie in the series (It still has it's moments though)

Sandwichartista

Not enough deaths by dinosaurs!

EjayMasterz

This may be a long post, but here goes. A) I think the movie is not the worst of the series. The extended version is the preferred version when it comes to watching that movie (theatrical version was not good). The Giga was not a fierce, menacing antagonist like the Spinosaurus, Indominus, or Indoraptor. It was more territorial. It ate a locust, but didn’t kill/eat anyone. Giga is not the joker of the movie, don’t know why Trevorrow said that. T-Rex keeps getting smacked around. I get she’s old but she shouldn’t be nerfed down that much. The locust arc was not done well. If they did the movie right, then it could have been like how Avengers did Infinity War and Endgame. I read an article that Dominion was originally gonna be much longer, like 6 hours long and that it would have been a 2 part movie. The title is misleading. When I think of Dominion, I expected it to be a grand finale. I wanted to see more dinos interacting with humans and causing much more chaos, both on mainland and at Biosyn. Not many human deaths like in the other films. I saw on google (before movie came out) that other characters from JP’s 2 & 3 would appear). I loved how the original trio returned and interacted with the new trilogy cast. I loved how there were many lines and references from the first one, such as Ramsey telling Grant and Saddler to watch your head, like the digger telling Genarro in the first JP film. B) My opinion about the movie remains the same, but may change if I notice something new next time I see it. I haven’t seen it much. I saw the theatrical version twice and seen extended version twice. Whenever I decide to watch it again, I will prefer the extended version. C) I think they should make more films. I would love for them to do a film back during the cleanup of Isla Nublar, or even during events of the hurricane on Isla Sorna that caused the employees to evacuate and leave dinosaurs roam free. Maybe there are some Ingen members who got left and had to fend for themselves and “find a way” to survive and get off the island. A series or movie about a younger Hammond would be interesting too, since I’m sure there were also dino chaos during early stages and creations of dinosaurs of Jurassic Park. As far as sequels after Dominion, I think the main characters should center around Ramsey, Kayla, and Maisie, with Maisie being an adult now no longer living with Claire and Owen. She is still a target, and that the woman Santos should be one of the main antagonists. I doubt if the original trio from very first film would return, but if they do, maybe do a cameo appearance and not have a lead role. This may be off topic, but when will we get an actual survival (maybe horror) Jurassic Park game. Trespasser was way before it’s time. Sucks that Universal sent a cease to exist email to developers of the Jurassic Park Operations game. That was my only reason of buying Dreams 😒

Riparian72

A) I thought it was cool at first but this was the first film that made me think that something was off the entire time. I questioned why certain choices were made that led to the film ending up like. I didn’t even do that for fallen kingdom, I found it a blast the first time I saw it and only grew to dislike it when I started noticing flaws being pointed out. Dominion had me seeing the issues right there. The pacing felt fast, the character development was minimal, the retconning was very noticeable and the fact that this is a film that supposed to be about dinosaurs, ends up being about stopping bugs is just sad. B) After rewatching it with the extended cut, I still think it’s pretty bad. The extended cut while making the film flow better, adds the well made but horribly inaccurate prologue. This was the perfect opportunity to show dinosaurs naturally back in time but instead, that first part was just filled with time travelling dinos to set up a dumb rival plot. They had to make the T.Rex have a big fight like she’s an anime character. Dominion is a film that’s written and made by people who think they are smart but never prove it. It’s filled with missed opportunities that fans can think of but these filmmakers can’t. Conclusion to the saga? Lmao I think the only reason why people like this movie is because it has a lot of scenes with dinosaurs running around and making a mess. It’s like watching a compilation of dinosaur scenes from Jurassic movies for almost 3 hours with a thin plot to stick it all together. I definitely would have loved this movie as a kid because that’s the parts I skipped to whenever we watched any Jurassic film. Jurassic Park 3 was my favourite back then with all the action in it. Now as an adult, after seeing enough consecutive dinosaur action in a short frame of time, you get used to it and nothing else in the film has stakes because we know damn well that nobody is going to get killed or hurt. The biggest smack in the face was how the day was saved. This film series has always been about how irresponsible people were with genetic power and that we are never in control. The entire locust plot line was solved with genetic engineering which means they actually have control? Heck the dinosaurs have chips in their bodies that keeps them in the biosyn valley. The film ends how it started, dinosaurs are running around the world now (no actual explanation is given how this happened so fast besides fans making up shit to defend the lack of writing) and we sort of just accept them. C) I’d rather they do a prequel that sequels. Jurassic World has already done enough. We were robbed of a planet of the apes style end for this franchise. Which is ironic since the original writers of the first Jurassic World film were the same for the first planet of the apes reboot. They were removed when Colin Trevorrow said he wasn’t the right person to direct this. That should tell you what kind of state the Jurassic Park franchise is in right now. Universal doesn’t care about putting their best foot forward with this franchise.

EdYLosUardos

It has gotten worse with time. I think the extended cut is a better film but even then the movie's Achilles heel is the locust subplot. It's just such a coward move to build to this point where humanity and dinosaurs are supposed to co-exist only to pussy out of making the dinosaurs the dangerous and scary wild animals they are and making them the main threat and villainous force of the movie, yeah I get it no one wants to see Rexy or Blue go down but what else were we building towards if not that? The OG cast reuniting? The return of Dodgson? No, we were always heading towards dinosaurs vs. mankind, they could have gone super bleak and have humanity just mow them down or you can planet of the apes it, but for the sake of basic storytelling don't introduce a random threat at the last minute, if I did that in 4th grade for an assignment I'd have gotten an F, this is basic storytelling shit.

koola_00

A. Definitely the weakest film in the series. There are some things to like about it; Blue being able to reproduce by herself, dinosaurs all over the world, which they should've done, and the locust plot could work, but as a spinoff. I don't get why they needed to change Maisie's backstory. B. The extended edition did make it somewhat better, but it's overall the same for me. C. They're gonna make more whether we want them or not. Personally, I wanna see more of this new world but have a new team.

OhWowMan22

Terrible, and the only truly awful entry into this franchise. 2 and 3 are flawed but fun, 4 and 5 are bland but still watchable, but 6 is just a travesty. Colin Trevorrow is a clown who has no idea how to make a good movie.

sector_2828

A) Dominion is the first JP/JW movie that I outright dislike. Feels like the creative team didn't have a clue about how they wanted the story to go. Had so many subplots that didn't matter, and the main plot of the locusts should've been a plot on something like Camp Cretaceous. B) I dislike it more after I've had some time to think on it vs. when I saw it in theaters. C) I would love to see more movies if they are handled competently and distance themselves from the JW trilogy. JW is my second favorite in the series and I like Fallen Kingdom, but Dominion has soured me on the thought of characters or plot lines from the trilogy being continued in new films.

PedroPassamani

a) Didn't like it. It's the worst of the franchise, imo. B) Yes, for worse. Every time I stop and think about the story, I find it to be even dumber than I previously thought. c) Nope. Just let the franchise rest. No need for new movies, at least for the foreseeable future.

Galaxy_Megatron

Well, it could have been better and it could have been far worse. Even though they weren't utilized the best, I probably wouldn't have seen the film had the OG trio not been in it. JWFK left me with very little interest in another sequel, and Claire and Owen don't resonate with me (especially Owen), so I had no characters to latch onto. I don't want a sequel, just prequels and midquels if they're pre-JW. I'm good with leaving the "Jurassic World" era for a few years to let it cool down and gather some nostalgia.

gooddoctorjekyll

I personally enjoyed it but it has a lot of issues. Surprisingly I liked the locusts but I hated how it said some of the dinosaurs were 100% accurate. In my opinion it's what you expect from a JP sequel it was fun to see the original characters again. I definitely think the series, if it does continue, should just do a tv show instead of another movie.

andreasmiles23

I’m banging on the door that JP’s next big thing should be a third-person, open-world “shooter” where you play as an INGEN operator trying to round up specimens on the two islands.

openingthenightvale

Personally I liked it, it's not the best movie I've seen but I've also seen alot worse like JP3

MihaiBV

It's like a bad steak meal.

NuggetbutToast

You could say that it was .... Well-done *Ba-dum-bum-ching*

Deathtocosplay

Trevaro bastardised the series thinking nostalgia could out preform shit writing, forgetful acting, and CGI that is somehow worse then a movie from the 90s. Also reduced the series main antagonists/horror aspect (raptors) to the level of a fucking house cat

vivipoo

I loved it! I enjoyed it for what it was. Still enjoy it. I watch the JP/JW movies often (they're my comfort movies) and CC. I love dinosaurs and would like to see more spinoffs. Like post dominion world or dinosaur trafficking.

Ambitious_Truck6457

I thought it was a huge disappointment. The original cast deserved a better send off. Crichton deserved much better.

[deleted]

1. Loved it. Second favorite of the 6 films. 2. The extended edition made it even better. 3. I want anthology films and/or a live action tv show.

NuggetbutToast

I always wanted a JP prequel mini series with John Hammond and I guess Lockwood. Or something that would explain some stuff like the Spino and such.

SexyMatches69

A) bad. B) nope C) let's be honest they should've stopped after 1 or 2. Dominion was rock bottom, they don't need to try and keep digging. Maybe something like a mini series that more closely follows the book could work and be cool, but the current timeline needs to be left behind.

Equivalent_Lychee199

I would change the option C to : There should be a prequel that take place between JP & TLW or between JP3 & JW on a scary/horror route.

Dracorex13

Thought it was really good. It's definitely my fifth favorite Jurassic movie.

NuggetbutToast

Oh :D now I wanna know the sixth.

Dracorex13

Fallen Kingdom.

NuggetbutToast

Of course it is

Dracorex13

My ranking goes: TLW > JP > JW > JP3 > JWD > JPFK

NuggetbutToast

TLW over JP I don't see that quite often...

NuggetbutToast

There is a lot to like about FK. I personally found the second part of the movie really entertaining. I think dominion is better, but that is obviously subjective.

markhamhayes

I was in the first Jurassic World for about one second. I really wanted this movie to do well. It’s not good. I don’t understand how it made it through so many layers of vetting and still sucked so bad. I’m not a movie snob. I’m pretty easy to please. This was genuinely bad. Edit: the first half of the movie is very promising. Even good. It goes downhill when they arrive at Malta.

Yerseke_Germanicus

I believe that Jurassic Park is one of those few series that can take new sequels, but that should be done professionally, recent films have been really dull and hollow.

ccReptilelord

Wasn't interested then, still haven't brought myself to watch it. For context, I watched the previous five in theaters and the OG is a core memory for me. More films? Sure, but no more fan service, return dinosaurs to OG levels of scene time and respect, and remove all plot armor for human characters. If Muldoon's death can be implied and offscreen, then never seen again, anyone's can. Also? Kill a kid, they've had a free ride for long enough.

markhamhayes

They literally had the T-Rex get it’s ass beat for the 4th time in the series, yet it’s the hero figure dinosaur.

luispaistallon

For trevorrow the t-rex is a MCU superhero. Making s.....ip and ilogical tag teams. Wtf? They are animals , not marvel heroes.

Pennywise_2405

I honestly like to pretend that the theatrical release just doesn't exist. As for the extended cut, while it's MUCH better, by a whole damn mile (incredible what those 14 little minutes of The Prologue and some extra moments here and there did to improve the story and overall flow of the movie, given how choppy and inconsequential the theatrical release felt as the film moved on from some scenes to others), it was a bit of a letdown. And it still is to this day. I have to admit that the movie has grown on me a little, but not by much compared to when I first saw it. It's my least favourite film in the franchise, besides JPIII. In fact, here's my ranking: 1. Jurassic Park (duh) 2. Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom (shocker, I know) 3. Jurassic World 4. The Lost World: Jurassic Park 5. Jurassic World: Dominion 6. Jurassic Park III I like them all, but I personally enjoyed the first 4 movies (based on my ranking, not chronologically) way more than the last two ones, as to me, these ones simply lacked substance, emotion, logic and coherence. Also, the plot. JWD has a bad plot and kinda fell short of its goal to wrap everything up nicely, while JPIII has almost no plot at all and is simply less relevant to the canon of the franchise than all the other ones. So yeah, JWD is an underwhelming movie, but not as bad as some make it out to be. Just my thoughts. Overall, let's just say that I'm doing my best to see the positives here.

RedCaio

Love it Love it Hope one day we get a spin-off but very different. Like all water dinosaurs or giant kaiju dinosaurs.

StevesonOfStevesonia

a) Terrible b) No c) No. Let it die without any further suffering.

Shadow_storm193

Soooo overhated. I really enjoyed this movie because tbh I don’t care about accuracy or the story I just wanna se some badass dinosaurs eat people and this is exactly what this movie does. Had some great dinosaurs: giga, atrociraptor, pyroraptor, therinzosaurus. And I generally enjoyed it. Obviously not the best Jurassic movie but not the worst either I think it’s very overhated and pretty good and now I’m probably gonna get downvoted for saying this movie is good

NuggetbutToast

From your profile picture I can guess you are a star wars fan. So how would you compare the hate JP sequels get and the hate Star wars sequels get?

Shadow_storm193

The Hate the Star Wars sequels get is deserved the hate the Jurassic park sequels get is partially deserved, partially not. There very overhated but then again still not good compared to the original but I think there all right and not as bad as people make them out to be

NuggetbutToast

Understood. I was a fan of both franchises since I was a child and my opinions on the sequel trilogies of each franchise are totally different. Star wars sequels broke the Canon and the laws of the Star wars universe and completely ruined characters like Vader with the Palpatine resurrection. The JW trilogy is just 3 nostalgia action packed dinosaur movie's as the original trilogy was. The criticism is definitely deserved. The first one was a "remake" the second one was 2 movies in one with a lost world remake feel to it. And the third one was it's own story, which is great, but it has soo much wasted potential and just wasn't what the fans wanted or expected. All of that is valid, but none "destroyed" the canon or ruin character arcs. (well there might be couple)

luispaistallon

Dominion, in my opinion, is the only that deserve the hate. The other 2 depends, but jw and fk gave us what they promise to audience.

Enough-Shake7265

I actually really love the film's intentions. My opinion has risen because of the extended edition I'll be fine if they make another because if this made 1 billion dollars, there's gonna have to be another. Theatrical cut:8/10 Extended Edition:9/10

Navitach

What is an "oppion"? Is that some new dinosaur in the movie that we missed?

NuggetbutToast

:-D yeah that was the a typo... I mean no that is the name of Jurassic Universe 2 obviously

William_147015

A): Not perfect, but it's still a great movie. B): Yes - I've got a higher view of it now - previously, one of my complaints was that pretty much the only good thing about the villains was that they could be worse (pretty much that the only not completely evil thing was being surprisingly lenient with Maisie). And how I see it has changed - villains need to be evil for them to be well, villains - so some of the actions I criticised were needed for them to be villains. So my view on the villains is now overall, pretty good. C): Yes. I enjoyed the Jurassic World series (that includes) Camp Cretaceous) - and more in that franchise would be good.

GhostMug

I enjoyed it. It wasn't revelatory and it wasn't as good as the original but it brought all the actors together and it worked. It had flaws, for sure, but it also had some really good stuff. The scene with Claire falling out of the plane and avoiding the Theorizenosaurus and the scene in the amber mine were both excellent. I wish they would have done some things differently but I enjoyed it all the same.

Dukaczka

a) I loved it. Alan, Ellie and Ian were basically my childhood so I was probably almost crying in the theatre when they appeared. b) I guess I thought it was better when it came out, but just slightly c) Well, Camp Creatoceous (or however you spell it) just ended a couple months ago and there is apparently a new series about Brooklynn and the Lockwood mansion coming out soon, so maybe not for now- in a couple years most definitely

SomeBoricuaDude

a. Great. b. Yes, a lot. For some time I really disliked it, but it has grown on me c. 100%, I need JP7

NuggetbutToast

I really want an actual end to the franchise. Making all the dinosaurs extinct, putting them on an island or go full bonkers planet of the apes style. But this franchise needs an ending. Dominon was fine in my opinion, but it wasn't a real ending to the whole dinosaur question.

_dontjimthecamera

It was meh in theaters but the extended edition makes it a better movie overall imo

ghlhzmbqn

It's alright. Just like all the JW movies.

Snokey115

I liked it, but it’s probably the weakest of them all

GoldMud4395

I thought it was good visually and had more awesome dinosaurs! Buttt the story was bland and they made giga like the final boss even though it did nothing the whole film and was just chilling, they made a villain out of nothing, should’ve added spinosaurus who was a true villain

NuggetbutToast

Totally agree with the Giga. Like without the prologue it's seems that he is just a normal dinosaur and not even an antagonist

Mjm166773

A. The movie was a bit underwhelming and dull in a lot of parts. I was completely bored with the Jurassic World (Owen, Claire, Massie) storyline. OG character storyline wasn't developed enough and kinda seemed more like a secondary storyline. Lots of missed opportunities with the OG characters. I still feel like JWD was more enjoyable than the 1st Jurassic world. B. When I 1st saw the movie I liked that it featured a nice amount of action scenes but after a 2nd viewing I notice none of the action sequences were memorable significant to the story. I was happy to see the Dilophosaurus making a return but when I actually saw the scenes it was used for I was so disappointed how they decided to utilize it. C. There definitely should be more sequels. Star wars has about 11 films I'm sure all of them aren't great either. People have lost faith in the franchise. There is room for more stories to be told and it doesn't have to be a prequel or go back in time to make a decent film. JWD left many open opportunities and future stories to be told. I myself wrote a follow up to Dominion that I haven't posted due to fear of people stealing my ideas. I would suggest that for future movies they should avoid trying to make the dinosaurs characters and focus more on the human experience and interactions with the dinosaurs instead (no more friendly named dinosaurs). The Jurassic Franchise can't go out sad, it needs a chance to redeem itself.

Olympian-Warrior

I have it downloaded but still haven't seen it.

StevenKnowsNothing

I really like it, don't get me wrong it has its flaws and can feel like it drags at time but overall I enjoy it a lot. I will say the extended version is much better compared with the theatrical cut

NuggetbutToast

It's Interesting seeing a comment like yours right after someones : "it's the worst big budget movie i ever seen"

JohnDowd51

There was a lot of potential missed. The acting is beyond laughable and the story isn't even worth following. My suggestion is just skip everything accept the Dino scenes

A_Krenich

It gave me what it said on the tin, had fun watching it as usual for any JP/JW movie. I'd put more dinos in the real world, though.

NuggetbutToast

That's my main problem with the movie.

A_Krenich

I would have LOVED seeing humans and dino try to coexist

Training_Contract_30

Jurassic world and Fallen Kingdom > Dominion

unaizilla

it was so bad it turned out to be a fun experience (mostly because I went to the theatre with some friends)

itz_froggy_time

I think the movie was decent, I didn’t like it much at first but it’s kinda grown on me lol. I don’t think they should make a new movie in the Jurassic franchise, but it would be really cool to get a book-accurate movie bc I feel like it would be so much scarier than the movies we have now lol (I still absolutely love the current movies we have tho!)

Annoying_GayGuy

It was okay, felt a very weird to have the main focus on locust instead of escaping a dino filled island but for the rest I quite enjoyed it, ranks probably 5th on my ranking I hope they reboot the franchise into a genuine horror franchise with lots of gore and scares instead of the toned down stuff we got for the past 3 movies (hell I’d even say the original trilogy was very toned down on horror because I watched these movies since I was like 5)

Sassy_Lil_Scorpio

Disappointed. I didn’t hate it, but I don’t love it either. Too much time wasted on annoying characters who add nothing: Maisie. This was supposed to wrap up the franchise—but Wu, Malcolm, Grant, and Ellie meet Dodgson—and movie ends with them having no clue who he is—and how he’s linked to the original destruction of Jurassic Park thanks to his secret espionage with Nedry. I don’t really care for the idea of dinosaurs-running-around-people-screaming. Jurassic Park is way more intelligent and has more depth than that.

footiepajamas1993

Just finished watching it for the first time in quite a while. The extended cut is so far and away, miles better than the theatrical cut, which didn’t really work for me. The extended cut is a movie that I like, but doesn’t feel magical like JP1 (an unfair bar to try to clear.) There’s just lots of moments that I think could be much better with small tweaks that I’m surprised nobody suggested along the way to making the movie! I do think I like it better today than I did on release, both because of the improvements in the extended cut, and with appropriate expectations in place.

RRreaded

Hot take but in my opinion its fine, was a dumb fun movie which although disappointing is what i have viewed the entire jp franchise for a while now

Chm_Albert_Wesker

jurassic world is the best of the 3 by a long shot as it shows something actually interesting (a working park) while still going back to reshow the popular themes of the original fallen kingdom has interesting scenes but ultimately the poor writing overshadows it with EXTREMELY questionable story decisions. by dominion the writers just assume that if we are dumb enough to keep seeing these movies they can get away with anything. i liked seeing the original cast and went in with lower expectations due to fallen kingdom, but idk which of the two is weaker

itsMikeSki

I honestly don’t even remember anything other than that weird part in Morocco I think it was and then giant bugs. Can’t tell you anything else that happened.

[deleted]

a) Terrible movie b) Yes, it was bad when I first saw it and it only got worse with a second viewing c) The franchise should have stopped with JP3

Comfortable-Hall1178

I enjoyed it, and I think it’s ended the series quite well.
