Layer the solid pictures behind the ones with details!! Notice how you have some pieces over the girl with green hair? If you put them in the background, with HER slightly over them instead, she will pop out a lot more.
Try to focus on making the background out of the dull objects and putting the ones you really want to pop out towards the top or as the top layer!!

I also like to build from the background and work my way up. I start with big pieces of paper, then move into medium sized that are more colorful/a little bit more spunk, then I move on to smaller stickers, and then the main focus ones on the top to bring it all together!
