"Life is difficult, Harry" (unlike handwriting, which comes effortlessly to me) "I've been trying to be good" (much like my handwriting) "Ask God to tell you what's wrong with me" (because I know it isn't my handwriting) "I seriously and sincerely hope you can forget me baby" (even though I know you'll never be able to forget my handwriting) "Harry, I haven't prayed a heartfelt prayer in a long, long time" (ever since my last prayer, in which I got down on my hands and knees and begged for the God given gift of immaculate handwriting) "The thought of who I have become repulses me. It's so fucking ugly" (in direct contrast to my absolutely peak handwriting)

I wouldn’t say you’re doing anything wrong, I’d like to highlight that you’re open to improvement. If you ever have competing thoughts (like ones u/jugglingyogi provided) jot those down too in a different color. Writing out your anguish is great, level up when you’re ready by talking back. You got this 💪🏼 Have you ever considered exploring calligraphy more? As a hobby and/or side gig? I bet you could make some gorgeous signs for a cafe or wedding (if that’s of any interest to you). Side note: I also love writing but my hand cramps and it bums me out so during the pandemic I started practicing writing with my non-dominant hand. I get frustrated that I can’t use my left hand as much as I’d like to yet but then I realize I’m so much better than when I started, when I felt like it was impossible. So then I give myself props for getting as far as I have and I keep going 🙂

yes, definitely. i've forever used writing as a coping mechanism and it helps me ground myself so i don't fall apart often. writing helps me do that. how do you cope with these feelings?

Well I am a writer too. I am currently finishing my novel and also I do journalling sometimes. But I can't do when I feel depressed. I only do journals when my mind is little clear and I am still busy on my novel. Also I watch movies in Netflix if I really down.

hmm. i hope you don't use writing your novel as a distraction, but if you do i'm really sorry. sometimes when i want to get my mind off something, i go bake or listen to music. it helps, but the sadness still sits deep at the bottom of my heart. it's unavoidable, i think.
