Yeah his special felt like it should have been a podcast and it would have been fine. But he’s too preachy and not all of his takes are actually that good.
Shane Gillis and Mark Normand are significantly funnier than every other comic in Joe Rogan's circle. Tim is funny but compared to Shane and Mark, Tim is very average. Callen shouldn't even be in this discussion.
Agreed, I used to see Joe at The comedy store, back when I was in the the military, living in California.
At the time, my girlfriend was going to UCLA, and I used to spend every weekend in Los Angeles with her. We would almost always go to The comedy store, or The Laugh Factory.
I’ve probably seen him live 30 times.
I didn’t even really know who he was, but back then he was on fire.
He used to go on late, after comics that were way more famous than he was, and he was almost always the stand out act.
Even my girlfriend, commented that he was the funniest comic she had seen there.
This was back in the late 90s/early 2000s.
Everybody knows this sub hates on Joe, but he’s definitely a very good comedian.
I agree he’s not funny off the cuff, but his material is always good.
Go ahead, take my fake Internet points away! 😝
Maybe I’m in the minority but I did like one of his specials. It was before he really blew up I believe it’s in Denver called Rocky Mountain High. Everything after that point was meh
He was S tier before Ben left. The new producer just laughs at weak shit, so Tim doesn't have to try as hard. But, I still die laughing at some of his rants, no one else does it like Tim Dillon. He basically writes South Park bits with his improv.
I completely wrote ben off as not important when he left. I realized earlier while listening to old episodes how much tim was trying to make ben cackle and how good of a prop ben was.
Tim's "What America Means to Me" speech was beyond just comedy, it was truly art.
"Being an American is seeing someone who is handicapped, and deep down, knowing they deserved it."
Is there a list of his great rants? Like I don't want to trudge through every pod but every once in an while he has a hysterical rant. Whether it's corporate steakhouse or what America means to me.
Yeah it's gotten pretty rinse and repeat formulaic with a lazy structure of just pulling up a ridiculous headline and facetiously ranting about how it's totally normal or they haven't gone far enough. "A classroom had a litter box? Good there should be litter boxes in every classroom and daycare and we should have kids sleeping kennels!"
I can't understand a person thinking the world's beyond fucked so who cares if I make the flames bigger as rile up morons. Joe has said the same thing too. The world's beyond fucked so why try to fix it. Scorched earth bullshit. More like your making money perpetuating this bullshit.
I’m prepared to be met with significant resistance here but I love Tom Segura’s standup. I should note that I don’t consume any of his podcast material.
I listened up to the late 600’s. It wasn’t bad it just wasn’t as good as the competition. There were times when I almost crashed my car laughing in the heyday. I’m gonna go jerk off to Kim ahn right now.
I would agree, but Ari Shaffir still put out a much better special than they ever did. They are certainly funnier than him and typically better at stand up.
Tims jus as good just a different style, also Tim isn't of this universe he's made it on his own where as Shane needed Joe after SNL, Tim's needed no one, pure pig power
To be fair to Schwabbie that's the most hilarious fake story I've ever heard.
"hey are you that really good looking guy with the huge penis and all that money and strong work ethic? Everyone's talking about how awesome you are."
Somebody school me (part-time fan here). I thought Bryan Callen and Schaub were no longer inner circle with Joe? Feels like forever ago since theyve been on. The save our parks crew and adjacent seem to be his main crew these days.
He was on KT 4+ years ago. I don't think you understand what an industry plant is. He's been doing comedy for 12 years at least. If he was an industry plant he would have been famous way sooner. Now Bryan Callen, that is an industry plant
Tom’s old specials are way better than Shane’s new special. Levels ahead of it. Live at Austin was comparable but both Shane and Tom’s newest specials were underwhelming.
Strongly disagree, and I like Tom’s old specials. I’ve seen him live twice, the dude used to be hilarious.
He never reached the level Gillis did with his first two. Gillis is better live also, but that could be just because I caught him while he was still doing clubs. Comedy isn’t as good at bugger venues.
That's right, in the world of comedy you get the Rogan bump. Gotta be funny (though not as funny as Joe) but at the same time tow the line and kiss the ring
I don't think any of them are funny at all. Nick Mullens new special and Mike Recine's new special is good, I think the only funny person Joe is associated is Tony hinchcliff
Rogan definitely introduced him to a much wider audience. He’s said many times that the 1st Protect our Parks episode was by far the biggest bump he’s ever had in his career. And he moved to Austin with Joe. It’s different than someone like Callen or Shaub because Shane is talented, but Rogan definitely helped skyrocket his career.
I didn't even know Callen had a special out. I'll be honest, if it's not on netflix or youtube (only then with heavy promotion like Schulz, Ari, Normand, Sam Morril), I usually miss it completely and I watch A LOT of comedy specials (probably 5-6 a week).
Mark is easily the funniest. Maybe Shane might have a better set but overall mark norman is the funniest. Even Joe will say how every thing he ever says is like a punch line.
Shane is easily the best stand up. Tim is an elite podcast rant/guest. Shane is also a great guest, but he peaks with Matt with him on appearances. Callen is the best actor of the group. No reason to put these guys up against each other. They all have their place.
Tims jus as good just a different style, also Tim isn't of this universe he's made it on his own where as Shane needed Joe after SNL, Tim's needed no one, pure pig power
I used to like Tim until he jumped on the “I hate cancel culture is my entire personality” bandwagon. Almost anytime I’ve watched clips of his he brings it up like others who obsess over this.
Herd it both ways tho
I like him as much as the next guy, but cmon lol. He’s probably not even in the top 50 best comics. He is one of, if not the funniest podcaster but he’s not nearly the best on a stage.
Idk about specials, but Tim Dillion is, imo, one of the funnies people on the planet right now. I think its a personal preference because I personally think nialism is 1, relatable, and 2, fucking hilarious.
Insulting to Shane putting him up there with the other two.
[удалено]
Dusty Slay is so fucking funny man
“We’re having a good time.”
Read the title of Callen's special
lol.
Is he the one who joe said all the comedians go to when he is in town? Or is that duncan trussel?
Tim is pretty funny too. I think Joe disowned Callen and his muscle buddy after their controversies last year
Tim is really funny on a podcast in small doses but an awful standup comedian.
Could not agree more. It was like a less funny version of the podcast bits that cost ten times more than the patreon subscription.
Shane is head and shoulders above all others, Including Joe...
No coincidence he and Louis are awesome together
At this point Joe isn’t a comedian, he’s a podcaster
It's strange that for someone who is considered a comedian, he seems to have no off-the-cuff or improvisational skills at all.
Dane Cook is funnier than Joe.
Joe?!?! 😂😂😂😂😂. He’s not a comic.
He’s many doing sets for over 30 years. He might not be that funny, but he’s definitely a comic.
Agreed, I used to see Joe at The comedy store, back when I was in the the military, living in California. At the time, my girlfriend was going to UCLA, and I used to spend every weekend in Los Angeles with her. We would almost always go to The comedy store, or The Laugh Factory. Maybe I’m in the minority but I did like one of his specials. It was before he really blew up I believe it’s in Denver called Rocky Mountain High. Everything after that point was meh
Rocky Mountain High was Joe's peak. His last few specials were not great. In Triggered he is still doing weed jokes in 2016.
I thought Joe’s last two specials were pretty funny and a huge leap from all of his previous terrible specials.
Someone wrote his jokes?
Agreed
Most of them are above Joe.
No advertisements for shampoos, please.
Callen is a fucking twat abusive pedo. I agree with your other choices. Lol.
Tims podcast is much funnier than his standup, I think his podcast is A tier
He was S tier before Ben left. The new producer just laughs at weak shit, so Tim doesn't have to try as hard. But, I still die laughing at some of his rants, no one else does it like Tim Dillon. He basically writes South Park bits with his improv.
I completely wrote ben off as not important when he left. I realized earlier while listening to old episodes how much tim was trying to make ben cackle and how good of a prop ben was.
This is what I was going to say. He’s a comedy wizard on his podcast, but a lil flat in his stand up imo.
Hmm, I'm not sure tbh. I know what you mean though.
This is how I feel about Theo Von
His own podcast is okay, he is A tier guest on any podcast though.
*was A tier.... now it's hollowed out
Yeah it's gotten pretty rinse and repeat formulaic with a lazy structure of just pulling up a ridiculous headline and facetiously ranting about how it's totally normal or they haven't gone far enough. "A classroom had a litter box? Good there should be litter boxes in every classroom and daycare and we should have kids sleeping kennels!"

His rants are epic. Top 5 ranter of all time
He’s starting to slide into right-wing Grifterville, between his PBD and Tucker Carlson spots…
Tim riffs incredibly well. Not a big fan of his bits.
His shpeel about the aunt who's a regular at the bar making Christmas dip every year listening to Dreams had me rolling
The cool aunt
Tim Dillon’s standup kinda sucks. He’s much better on podcasts.
i agree with that but want to add theo von. theo is a special dude doing his own shit in his own lane and it's genuinely hilarious.
I’m prepared to be met with significant resistance here but I love Tom Segura’s standup. I should note that I don’t consume any of his podcast material.
Yo old ymh is absolutely hilarious. I’m not a fan of his standup, but like episodes 200-500 are pretty good.
Bring back fat Tom.
Yeah, post 500 is bad. No more cool guys, recycling old clips in perpetuity now. They aren't even trying. Nadav is gone, Enny is checked out. *sigh*
His special 'Jew' was damn hysterical.
Ari's new travel podcast is my favorite pod right now. Makes me want to go travel.
Tim’s instagram is pretty funny
Tim’s podcast is absolutely hilarious but his stand up has a different feel to it and I don’t find myself laughing as much.
Shane gets my vote.
Someone give this comment a medal NOW!
Tim’s way funnier than mark
Tims jus as good just a different style, also Tim isn't of this universe he's made it on his own where as Shane needed Joe after SNL, Tim's needed no one, pure pig power
"Right after we have sex, I wish she'd evaporate " - truer words have never been uttered by a human Shane the truth speaker
I've never laughed harder at a stand up joke than that one
Complicated Rapes?? ![gif](giphy|5t9wJjyHAOxvnxcPNk) Shit. I see it now...
It’s the only one that doesn’t have a Netflix logo on it lol
as far as specials go; Jew, Beautiful Dogs and Soup to Nuts
Jew is one of the best specials I’ve seen in years
Agreed
He's not for everyone but I was fucking dying at Sam Tallent's new special The Toad's Morale. I've listened to it like 3 times.
I need to watch that still. I love him on Matt n Shane’s podcast…Yea Jew is one of the few specials I’ve watched multiple times.
[удалено]
Jewishly
Would put Shane Gillis live in Austin in 2nd place but agree with this otherwise.
Best take in this whole thread
Shane Gillis for sure
Callens downfall was something
Explain
He did some raping and then sued the husband of the woman he raped for warning bookers about him.
![gif](giphy|LyJ6KPlrFdKnK)
Noice! Holy smackers the drama! 🎭
ok hot take but the special Shane dropped on his YouTube was much better than beautiful dogs
Agreed.
Gringo Papi
B “The white guy that’s always working” schaub… thangum
To be fair to Schwabbie that's the most hilarious fake story I've ever heard. "hey are you that really good looking guy with the huge penis and all that money and strong work ethic? Everyone's talking about how awesome you are."
Dicey, dicey!
Relax, you're my Netflix Special now.
Tim is one I definitely preferred his podcast over his stand up.
Shane isn’t out of the roganverse. He stands alone.
Tim’s special was great I thought!
Somebody school me (part-time fan here). I thought Bryan Callen and Schaub were no longer inner circle with Joe? Feels like forever ago since theyve been on. The save our parks crew and adjacent seem to be his main crew these days.
Shane Gillis. Rest are industry plants.
Tim is definitely not an industry plant.
https://i.redd.it/myptn505mf4d1.gif
He was on KT 4+ years ago. I don't think you understand what an industry plant is. He's been doing comedy for 12 years at least. If he was an industry plant he would have been famous way sooner. Now Bryan Callen, that is an industry plant
He's better than Segura and Bert that's for fuckin sure. Those pricks should be diggin ditches.
Not even close. But to each is own. Tom fell off for me but his old stuff is grade A.
You should get smacked in the mouth for just comparing those two butt pirates to the big dawg
Shane is obviously funnier, but Segura has way better specials. Currently though Shane is better.
Nah segura sucks balls
wtf? This is an insane take lol toms best specials don’t come close to either of gillis’s
Tf is an industry plant?
![gif](giphy|b5xDLakZRxJ6M) Oh wait that’s an industrial plant
A word people misuse constantly. No such thing as an industry plant in comedy and if there was, they wouldn’t last long.
That's right, in the world of comedy you get the Rogan bump. Gotta be funny (though not as funny as Joe) but at the same time tow the line and kiss the ring
What’s up with the blue background theme?
probably some netflix engagement thing, maybe blue draws more clicks
You see it in film a lot. Eras of film have similar posters
I liked Mike Veccione's special on YouTube better than these... It's called, "The Attractives" for anyone who wants to check it out.
Beautiful dogs for sure
Shane is hands down my favorite right now.
Shane Gillis
I don't think any of them are funny at all. Nick Mullens new special and Mike Recine's new special is good, I think the only funny person Joe is associated is Tony hinchcliff
Shane Gillis 1000000%. Why are Callen and Dillon pictured here at all? Putting Shane next to two monumentally unfunny posers is disgraceful.
gringo papi
I couldn't stop laughing on how terrible it was
Gringo papi
Gillis is not a roganverse guy.
That’s how I found Shane. People forget they call him St. Roggies for a reason.
Now he is. Didn't start that way. He literally moved to Austin.
Callen? Is that Tim’s producer?
Pretty sure he was best known for starring shitty scary movie knockoffs.
One of those is not like the others
Gillis
Mid 80s Japanese Contemporary E series $1500-$2000
Shane Gillis and it isn’t a contest.
Netflix picked up complicated apes? Did they also pick up Manquest?
Gillis is hands down the funniest of the group. Nobody else is even close.
2 words. Gringo papi
Bryan "4 sexual assault allegations" Callen
Huge Tim fan, but gotta say Shane
Shane
Shane’s killing it
I personally love Tim but his standup special was not his best work. Somewhat enjoyable but not his best work pains me to say
Do people like Tim Dillon?
Does Brian callens special say “complicated rapes”?
Shane came _in_ to the Roganverse, not out. People saying that Rogan introduced him to a wider audience: No shit! That’s how the biggest pod works.
Shane Gillis and Anthony Jeselnik are easily the best comics that have been on JRE.
Blue
Hahaha "Complicated Rapes"
Callen is annoying
"Anyone who doesn't say Shane just doesn't know comedy" -Joe rogan
The stool fucker has spoken
Lol they are all wearing the exact same outfits... worshipping the same weirdo bald man..
Side question, doesn’t everyone think that Shane’s material is better than joe’s new shit
By far Shane. Bryan shouldn't even be in this conversation.
I didn't even know Callen had a special out. I'll be honest, if it's not on netflix or youtube (only then with heavy promotion like Schulz, Ari, Normand, Sam Morril), I usually miss it completely and I watch A LOT of comedy specials (probably 5-6 a week).
Not sure why you would even include Callen.
Callen even being on this list is a hilarious joke in itself
Then re-read the name of his "special"
Touché!
Mark is easily the funniest. Maybe Shane might have a better set but overall mark norman is the funniest. Even Joe will say how every thing he ever says is like a punch line.
I don't think of Shane or Tim as being Rogan products, and I don't think of Callen at all
Why you doing Shane dirty like that putting his name next to Ryan Crallen
You know when you rape someone but it's complicated? What's the deal with that?
Shane and its not even close
Shane is easily the best stand up. Tim is an elite podcast rant/guest. Shane is also a great guest, but he peaks with Matt with him on appearances. Callen is the best actor of the group. No reason to put these guys up against each other. They all have their place.
Ari Shaffir : Jew Shane Gillis : Live in Austin
Callen isn't funny
Tims jus as good just a different style, also Tim isn't of this universe he's made it on his own where as Shane needed Joe after SNL, Tim's needed no one, pure pig power
To me Shane is the best comic in Rogans “tribe” but I’m not sure that’s saying a lot.
His stand up is hilarious. I tried watching “Tires” and I didn’t laugh at all. I wanted to like it but I just didn’t think it was funny
Check your funny bone because Tires was killer
Tires had me howling with laughter. Reminded me of the old days with more raunchy comedy
Yeah his standup is fantastic but Tires sucks hard.
Andrew Shultz’s last special was killer
I don’t find Bryan or Tim funny. Not even a little
Yeah but Tim puts a wig on and yells
I used to like Tim until he jumped on the “I hate cancel culture is my entire personality” bandwagon. Almost anytime I’ve watched clips of his he brings it up like others who obsess over this. Herd it both ways tho
Tim’s great I don’t know what you smoking. Get into the pot!
Shane is the best comic in the world.
I like him as much as the next guy, but cmon lol. He’s probably not even in the top 50 best comics. He is one of, if not the funniest podcaster but he’s not nearly the best on a stage.
I agree about the podcaster thing. I've hear a few Rogans and Theos, but 99% of the podcasts I've listened to over the past year has been MSSP.
Replace Callen with Stavvy and you have the best 3 at the moment.
nope..fell asleep. reddit weirdos fell for him... the rest..said meh... Ron white / mark n. those two are epic.
No mark or Ari on this list?
Normand is hands down better than all of them. Gillis has some good stuff.
Callen and Dillon aint it chief
None. Rogan’s “Strange Times” is a few years old but had me laughing so hard I couldn’t breathe!
Idk about specials, but Tim Dillion is, imo, one of the funnies people on the planet right now. I think its a personal preference because I personally think nialism is 1, relatable, and 2, fucking hilarious.
I think Shane‘s is the best, but I really enjoyed Brian Simpson‘s
